      you have to understand, driving a stick is a very difficult thing to do especially when you are following good practices to save life on the cars parts. If it was easy, everyone would have one giving the fact that everyone has automatics nowadays. Learning to drive a manual is as difficult as learn mathematics. You have to have an analytical mind to excel at it. I respect this guy because most people cant or would never even get into a manual transmission due to the level of difficulty.

      And don’t forget great gas mileage, at least on older vehicles. I had to buy a used car recently, and was able to get a great deal on a 2008 Civic four-door manual. The guy at the lot told me they had gotten three of those Civics, and the first two were gone in a day because they were automatics. The only reason the one I ended up getting was still there was because it was a manual.

    Now I finally know the mechanics of a manual car!! The visuals were helpful. Another side benefit of manual transmissions. If your car won't start, then grab a friend or two, ask them to push the car forward..ease off the clutch, press down on gas & BAM! off you go. Also could you explain the difference between a 5 & 6 speed? Paddle shift?

    • @jpedraza17
      @jpedraza17 Před 7 lety +5

      Anna Gomez A 6th speed is a cruise gear. 5th gear would be your over drive because the output gear ratio is greater than the input.

  • @GeneralSirDouglasMcA
    @GeneralSirDouglasMcA Před 4 lety +8

    In a commercial vehicle, first gear is always all the way to the left and down, and reverse is all the way left and up. Also, in low gear you can ease your foot off of the clutch pedal without touching the accelerator and the vehicle will roll. It will actually be more difficult to shift in a small car than in a tractor trailer (I’m planning on buying a manual civic soon).

      When you call someone cute you are saying that person looks cute to YOU,thus making it obvious that that person is special to you ( usually sexually )
      But when you call someone nice looking youre saying it in general,other people would think the same thus no one is in doubt
      The guy said " you have beautifull eyes" making it obvious that he spent his time looking on him face and picked the thing he picked the thing he liked the most, making it obvious he has something in mind (since people who have eye contact with you alot are gay),thus he had to say no homo

    I gave you a like and a comment for your effort sir and also cause your driving in a Honda Civic Ex coupe manual transmission like mine except way cleaner and probably not beat up like mine but let me say, it's a tough ass car. It amazes me that no one knows how to drive a manual anymore. As I have learned since owning this car, which really only serves a purpose as a work vehicle. Every time I take it to get something done, say at a tire shop recently I asked the guy, hey it's a manual can you even drive it back there and he said yeah no problem. He killed it 10 times plus left ebrake up and mind you it was a short distance to service bay stall...it's just ridiculous. I'm a 41 year old female and I know how to drive a manual! So thank you for your time and reading this long comment!

I live in Baltimore MD where it is extremely overcrowded with people and they always just slam on their brakes without even slowing down. As a result of this, I always find myself in last minute situations where I have to quickly but barely tap the clutch just enough to slow down or speed up into gear.

    that's possible? no gas in first and it will just keep moving? i thought it would stall out eventually without gas

    Why your rpm was at 3000 when you were in 5th gears and around at 70-80? I have an automatique and at this speed my rpm is around 1600-1800

    • @holcombballer23
      @holcombballer23 Před 3 lety

      Because of the gearing in honda's. My fit is at 4000rpm at 70mph. Totally normal for manual honda's. Auto will be a few lower rpm at highway speed.

    as a european i find it so strange that people dont know how to drive a manual. most people in europe(in my country anyway) dont have an automatic

      Jake Mcdaid Well here in America, automatic cars are the norm, and manuals are rare.

    • @bellapl3800
      @bellapl3800 Před 7 lety

      Jake Mc daid yeah tought the Same 😁. In Germany we learn in Driving school to drive a car with manual shift. But most luxury cars or high priced cars like BMW or mercedes are Automatic. And of course the new cars:-)

    • @papayaman123
      @papayaman123 Před 7 lety +1

      it makes more sense to have automatics in America because we have more traffic and also gas is cheap.

    • @mpalali
      @mpalali Před 6 lety +1

      And those who do know how to drive a manual in North America can save a lot of money, a base model sub-compact in Canada with manual transmission can cost as low as $11,500 (CDN) $8855 (USD) freight included. No A/C, no power windows (except Mitsubishi Mirage). Nissan Micra, Chevy Spark, Mitsubishi Mirage being the most value priced.
      A/C and Auto Transmission adds up at least another $4000 bucks or more.

      I hear you. I drove two automatic Corollas in the past. I just purchased a WRX STI manual. I took a course in driving stick on a Corolla before I purchased my STI, which was fairly easy to find the clutch engagement point, but this WRX STI is soooo much more difficult to find the clutch engagement point. I've been driving it for a week now. I'm getting better at it and stalling less. Traffic lights and inclines are brutal!

    • @Mr420Dankbudz
      @Mr420Dankbudz Před 7 lety +3

      DeliciaTrini put your car into gear, hold the clutch down, then pull your e-brake and slowly let go of the clutch you'll slowly feel it grab then when you do release the e-brake. It's called a hill start. Hope this helps.

    • @bobbichapman5946

      kilAcez21 actually there is a way to shift without the clutch. It's called speed shifting or power shifting. It requires petfect timing on the part of the driver. The transmission will shift if you listen to the rpm and shift precisely at right time. I do it by ear. I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner though.
