Definitely gonna watch this video till I get my first manual car in a year 🫡.
I'm watching this because I'm interested in getting a type R/just wanting to learn how to drive manual, I appreciate this thank you 🙏🏽
Man the way you explained made me feel a lot more confident honestly. I just deal with the over thinking and fear of stalling out in heavy traffic
thank you for posting this video, i’ve been binge watching it because i found out my parents are getting me an FL5 as a late graduation gift from University. i’ve been learning manual here and there thanks to my friends but not long enough to understand it, as a whole. my Dad is getting to the age where an automatic is needed. Plus, i don’t want to ruin their car because of me. What i do have to keep in-mind is the knob centers in when in neutral but i gotta wiggle it just to make sure lol.
Bro your hella spoiled if your parents are buying you a car in general and if it’s a type r than your set for life don’t ever have to worry ab shit lol
Are your parents adopting?
@@user-mb2hm1mx4fyeah they’re in finance and own farmland in the Philippines (dual citizenship) i can’t blame them for spoiling me really 😂 i try to back off it but y’know, being the youngest in an asian family a no still ends up being a yes lmao.
The knob centers when in neutral? That’s pretty basic 101 haha
Idk I’d rather ruin their car than an fl5. In all seriousness you’ll be fine just practice slowly
@@dalimkobahc honestly bro you’re crazy for that 🤣💀
Best video ever on how to properly start a manual push to start for the type are thank you
I am getting a 2021 Type r Touring and I am just watching this because I have no clue how to drive a manual looks easy tbf
It is easy. I learned to drive a manual on my 2018 Civic SI when I drove it off the lot after getting it. The type r is even easier since it has more torque it is a bit harder to stall. not going to lie I've stalled it about 4 times since I got it. It happens but driving a manual becomes second nature and you don't even think about shifting after a few weeks.
Lol if you’ve never driven one picking up your car is going to be a jarring experience. I wasn’t super proficient when I picked mine up but I had done it before. You might want to practice
I’m waiting on my 2024 type R to be delivered. I’ll also be learning when I drive it off the lot. Lol
You might want to practice their gonna look at you crazy if you buy a type r and can’t drive it off the lot
@@dalimkobahc I mean I’d say I’m around 80%.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to get it off the lot. I told the salesman I’m not 100% on a stick and he told me the type r is one of the easiest manual’s out there.
I’m on the same boat as you bro . Would like to know how it’s going with your car bro !!!
I’m getting my type R this week and first manual car as well
@@FL5Moe the car is amazing man…
It’s got 1300 miles on it now and I have no problems driving it now. The first few weeks I did stall it out several times. Especially going uphill when there is a car right behind you. Just let out on the clutch SLOWLY, while giving some gas. The hill assist the car has helps.
No complaints with the car. I absolutely love it.
Hopefully you have another car to dive for work and stuff. I baby that thing. I’ve never even driven it in the rain yet… lol.
What color did you get?
I have a video of mine if you click on my name you can check it out.
Got the windows tinted 20% last week.
I’d like to get it wrapped in that protection film, but it’s sooo expensive bro..
Watch on the back part of those rocker panels because Little Rock’s get stuck in there.
Best of luck man!
How do you not accidentally shift into the reverse slot in this car? The cars I've driven you either have to pull up a collar or push the shifter down to get into reverse. You just seem to kinda throw it into the reverse slot.
There's a lockout once the car gets up to a certain speed, won't let you go past 5th/6th gear horizontally when above ~12mph.
great share. do all type Rs do this? i was surprised you didnt stall when you released the clutch at first gear without stepping on the gas.. in a normal car (the ones I drove anyway, like lancers, corollas, not releasing on the correct bite point plus not having the correct throttle is a recipe for stalling)
If you release the clutch too fast in this car it will definitely stall. If you do it slow enough on almost any car you can get going without stalling. Even my 2020 Honda civic si wouldn’t stall if I released the clutch slow without pressing the gas.
Having anxiety driving my new Civic Sport Touring hatchback 6 speed manual. Ok with 1, 2, 3 to 4, but get kind of lost going from 5 to 6, (accidentally shifted from 5 to 4 instead of 5 to 6). And then downshifting from 5th to 4th, and afraid I will accidentally shift into 2nd……
I bought the same car and just picked it up today! It’s my first time driving a manual and the anxiety is real. How’s it going for you now?
@@Karli841 I will admit, the first few days were a bit challenging as it had been twenty years or so of driving a car with a manual transmission. No more anxiety & now I am comfortable and enjoying it. Really happy I went with the MT. It is much more fun and engaging to drive !
@@lilycat1694 I’m so happy to hear that!! It brings me some peace of mind, so thank you for that 💛
@@Karli841 you’re very welcome!
I enjoy watching these even though I already know how to drive a standard. I have an Si so my car is standard. Lol. I want a Type R for my next car though. Question for you though. Does the Type R have rev hang? My Si had it bad until I disabled it with Hondata and it ruined the driving experience for me (car drives a lot better with it disabled) and I really want a Type R for my next car but I'll be passing on it if the car has rev hang. I don't wanna have to buy another tuner just to disable that.
It does have a bit of rev hang but no where near as much as an SI. Also has rev matching with makes it so much easier to downshift.
@ThePropperWay Thanks for the info. I know for my Si, before I disabled it, unless I slipped the clutch, I'd have to hold the clutch in for a good 4-5 seconds for the rpm's to drop. It drove me bonkers. I guess I'll have to test drive the Type R and see if I can deal with it. And I heard about the auto rev match feature. How is it? I've never driven a car with it so I've never experienced it.
@@riley1733 I like it. I keep it turned on all the time. A lot of people say they turn it off because a true manual driver would t use it. I think it makes driving the car easier so why not use it. Sometimes the rev match can be a little slow in comfort mode but maybe like 1.5 seconds. I had a 2020 si and the rev hang was no where near 5 seconds. Maybe a second at most but enough to be annoying when trying to go through gears quickly
@ThePropperWay Ah. Gotcha. Yeah, I'll have to try it out someday when I do get the Type R. If it makes driving the car easier, that's a bonus. Lol. And yeah, mine had bad rev hang. If I revved it up to about 4000rpm, I'd be holding the clutch in for a good 4-5 seconds for the rpm's to drop low enough for the next gear. I actually took a video of the rev hang one night while I was out for a drive. I was gonna show it to Honda and complain to them about it but I got the Hondata so it's not an issue anymore. Drove me up the wall though when it was there. It made me hate the car and I regretted buying it because of it.
Getting a 2024 type R as a first manual car . “I know it’s crazy but it’s my dream car “ and was wondering if you can help with any tips .
This is such an easy car to learn to drive on. Slowly release the clutch and if you’re on a flat surface and do it right the car doesn’t even need the gas pressed to get moving. Definitely makes it easier to press the gas though
@@ThePropperWay thanks man ! I’ll keep you updated on my journey !
I burned my clutch, I was always holding first gear. Lol
do you need to let go of the gas as well when shift gears?
Yes so the rpm’s drop to go up a gear
is this civic type r FL5 have uphill start assist?
Yes it does
thanks man
