Mundgod is a panchayat town in Uttara Kannada in the Indian state of Karnataka. It lies on the route to Hubli from Sirsi. It is a Main road town. Mundgod is a repository of Tibetan life and culture. It showcases the lifestyle and ambitions of the Tibetan refugees and reflects the gradual transformation of a traditional society into modernity. It has been referred to as Mini Tibet.

You absolutely agree with you and I have same thoughts that's why I keep visiting to such places.
Thank you so much for your beautiful presentation of Mundgod settlement and took me down the memory lanes. I was there for 25 years since leaving home in Himachal Pradesh .The area is also called Tattihalli ( to much amusement to my North Indian friends 😂 ) there are statues and paintings Indian masters inside the prayers hall such as Nagarjuna, Chandrakirti Naropa etc reflecting the Nalanda origin of Tibetan buddhism. While most monks are Tibetans but there also large number of monks from Buddhist belt in India Himalayan regions. Wish your visit happened in better times but do visit again. From Las Vegas USA
PS: just saw your tribute to SFF. I hope you got to see the memorial in camp 3 to the SFF personal lost in Bangladesh war near the shopping complex owned by SFF veterans society
We have visited the memorial in camp no 3 it was a great experience for us since before we didn't have the knowledge about it and that you will going to see in the 3rd part of Mundgod series. Not only there are lot of settlements in every part of India if u go in north side Darjeeling, dharadhun odisa, manali. Yes 👏 thank you well said .. when I think of religious and cultural it’s very simple.. I feel lucky to be Tibetan. Tibetan they don’t discriminate girl boy you know both are same for them. And on that when we get marry there is no there is no dowry system in Tibetan. Guy family they don’t demand for money family should be good that’s all matter.😁 religious also simple be kind to each other.

Mundgod actually not the largest Tibetan settlement, Coorg Bylakuppe is the largest Tibetan settlement! 😅❤
mundgod have largest Tibetan settlement population. Even Both new and old LUGSUNG SAMDUPLING, B’KUPPE and DICKYI LARSOE, BYLAKUPPE combined. In terms of areas bylakuppe is bigger if both combined. Y’all bylakuppe better chill out lol

But she did not mentioned about the PEP.
It is a restricted area, if you are a non Indian, you require a special permits.
So check before heading straight.
