      Spot on - the 981 and 982 718 NA GTS whether Cayman or Boxster are fantastic. Also owned plenty of 911s inc RS. Not a great fan of the 992 GT3 or GT3 RS. The 991.2 GT3 touring and 991.2 GT3 RS are better looking and more engaging. My personal picks are the 981 GTS, 718 GTS 4.0L, 718 RS Spyder or 4RS, 991.2 GT3 touring and 991.2 GT3 RS. The 992 GT3 is a more anodyne version of the 991.2 GT3 RS and the 992 GT3 RS is over blown although a technical tour de force.

      Totally agree, had a 991.2 GT3 previously which was brilliant then a 992 Targa GTS which I wasn’t a fan of, too heavy and long / wide.

That said, my idea of a nice drive is running my 2010 S in Rocky Mountain National Park to summit at 12,000ft in Nov while experiencing light precipitation. Given full heat with vents positioned properly, parka, hat and gloves it's far warmer than a motorcycle.

    I have once driven a 2010 Cayman S and love it since that drive. Amazing balance, amazing engine noise, amazing transmission noise, just loved it.
    I would probably "need" either a Boxster GTS 4.0 with the upgraded shorter 2nd gear retrofit kit (manual, that is) or if getting the transmission redone is far too complicated then just go for the PDK and get roughly okay 2nd and 3rd ratio.
    The induction noise festival and extra oumpfh of the RS must be amazing, but probably I would be blow away by the "pedestrian" GTS 4.0 already :-)

    • @hbullock
      @hbullock Před 26 dny

      You’d lose the spyder humps and likely need some targa / mc20 motorized contraption.
      Weight had nothing to do with the inclusion of this top. It’s the easier to explain excuse.
      The only reason this car got green lit at all is that it has almost no development cost (over the 4RS).

    • @mazer327
      @mazer327 Před 23 dny

      @@hbullock IDK that I agree with the "weight had nothing to do with the inclusion of this top" comment. They put a sticker on RS models b/c it's weight savings over the actual metal crest. They are obsessed with weigh savings on every single one of their RS models. I'd say it certainly had something to do with it.
      Using your rationale here, they could have just taken the top from the 718 Boxster.
      There's a lot of changes here between the 4RS and the Spyder RS, so not sure I agree with your explanation.

    • @hbullock
      @hbullock Před 23 dny

      @@mazer327 I’m not sure you read / comprehended my post. The taller intakes on the gt3 motor preclude the regular spyder top; it won’t fit . If a regular spyder top won’t fit, a regular boxster top definitely won’t. And a regular boxster top would retract where the spyder humps are, anyway, meaning you’d lose the humps…which makes a spyder a spyder. So you can’t fit a “better” top without a major redesign. Sure rs = lightweight, but the lightweightness of this top is a serendipitous fallout of the necessities imposed by the other limiting factors. If you’re not following…never mind. Have a nice day. :)

    Driving a convertible with top down in the rain..only in the UK 😂put the fricking roof up

      In case you hadn't noticed, I was filming a video, roof up would have made it impossible light wise. Plus, I was still clearly enjoying it, as I'm sure you would in a Spyder RS.

    To the reviewer: take 5 min to understand a process, if you stopped, in less than 1 minute you have the top bimini installed and you can drive with it in almost all rain condition, more like the rain in this video.
    However this is not a daily car, is a weekend toy car, and not for the British weather ( never saw the sun when i was there lol).
    Thank you

    Why are you driving in the rain with the roof off? Most people take the 90 Liter gastank, you can drive than up to 700- 900 km 500 miles +

    Joe, I’m sure you’re absolutely killing it in life in general but your videos are superb. Attention to detail, passion and the filming is superb. I know nothing about filming and I always wonder how certain things are shot. I wish you nothing but the best and thank you for engaging with many people and working hard to provide wonderful videos. Needless to say, very jealous you’re able to drive these superb machines! This car looks a real corker. 😏

    Surprised at your comments on the suspension and comfort on UK roads. I have a 718 Spyder and it’s awful. Can’t wait to swop out the existing Cup 2s to Michelin pilot sports.

      I understand from other reviewers that the Spyder RS is softer than the previous regular Spyder and closer to a GTS setup. Porsche is usually quite good at responding to customer feedback on its models so although I’ve not driven an RS to verify for myself, I think it might well be true…

    There is no manual option, and that roof yikes! My manual perfectly speced 718 Spyder is the one for me. Awesome machine nonetheless...!

    Like Rolex special customers this sales profiling will come back to bite them, Ive been offered two Rolex watches this week and declined them both two years ago I would have taken both, just like I got knocked back for one of these Porsche will struggle for customers in the not too distant future hopefully

      I’ve exactly the same issue. Am an existing 2 x Rolex and 2 x newish Porsche owner (all 4 purchased brand new so I have a brand history) but can’t get another Rolex or any Porsche GT model because I still haven’t spent enough, frequently enough, with those brands.

    On a equal power and equal suspension the Spyder will faster on the track too. This has been true since Van Overbeek the AMLS driver tested the first Cayman R against the first gen Boxster Spyder on a karting track. The Boxster Spyder was faster on every lap. Removing the weight on the top is a no brainer for a faster lap time.
    p.s.
    Why do the genius Porsche engineers insist on making the top on this car so needlessly complicated. A simple manual top that can raised and lowered from driver's seat with one hand. The Mazda Miata figured this out in 1989.
