I’m learning embroidery because my husband has just been diagnosed with lung cancer we will be spending a lot of time at the hospital and I want something I can take with me to hopefully take my mind off of what my darling husband is going through I normally sew but I don’t want to take that up the hospital with me. Your videos have been an amazing help in my embroidery journey thank you

The good thing about embroidery is that it is ‘easy to manage’…….. you can just shove it into your embroidery bag quickly…… sometimes being in hospital you might have to move ‘pronto’. I love to do my crochet but once it gets too big it can be hard to manage…… that’s where individual squares come in handy. If I’m taking embroidery to hospital, make sure that you have got plenty of threads and scissors 😍. Good luck with all that’s coming, remember to breathe deeply when doctors/nurses speak to you ……it helps you concentrate and remember what they have told you….. a note book and pen are also a good idea. You are embarking on an important journey, you are your husband’s advocate as he may not be able to take things on board’at times’. Good, good, good luck. Put your bravery hat firmly on your head and walk into what might be a bit of a rough storm. You will have invisible arms around. Have faith.

@@keelyjohnston19 I’ve had my share of devastating news flashes……. my son, who was doing Theology exam at university was by my side and we received them together….. he helped me greatly, both mentally and physically (I had just had knee replacement) and that night he told me about ‘Faith’ …….. I have my husband, older but in good health…… I’m the one who had the stroke, !!!!! But, I learned about Faith , Hope and Love …. That’s not to say that sometimes my Hopes may be shaken, just listen to World News and one could be shaken to the very core. My husband’s 2 episodes of cancer were both benign but he had septic shock and very nearly didn’t recover…… ravaged his body, poor darling. I have seriously prayed to my God for your darling, may he come through this storm with his colours flying high.

I have to thank you Sarah for everything you have taught me. I recently made a ABC book for my great grandson and because of your inspiration and tutelage it was a magnificent hit. You pass on the Royal Academy knowledge with expertise and a wonderful voice and vocabulary to make for an incredibly enjoyable experience. Then you add in ginger cat too. You’re amazing!

Hi Sarah, I have just been watching your video on Jacobean Crewelwork. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The colours you have chosen work really well. You are so inspiring. I went to a class about 17 years ago, and did some Jacobean Crewel work, with Appletons wool. I really enjoyed it. I moved house a couple of months ago and now have my framed embroidery, up on the wall, in my new house, it brings back memories, of when I did the class. I cannot believe I embroidered it. I have done a little bit embroidery since then,😊 but not a lot. It is just getting my confidence up again and believing in myself, that I can do it. 😊❤

I don't know anything about sewing or stitching, but I'm determined to learn this. I saw a Russian bag using those cute long beads, but the bag was $1k USD, 90k rubles. No way am I paying that. I'd rather embroider my own in a design I want. So here I am!

My viewthe instuction never show the super thanks button on any of your videos, not sure why and I've watched the majority of your videos. It has reignighted my interest in embroidery.. I didn't have anyone to teach me as a teen so I had to rely on the instructions that came with the kit. Now I see I've been doing a few things wrong and with your very excellent videos I'm learning how to do things the correct way. Thank you Sarah!

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I learned some new stitches, both of which I really like - lattice and whipped wheel. I also really like how you used the blanket stitch on both sides of the 1 leaf section. The beautiful classical music was such a refreshing addition. As I watched your stitching, my mind's eye pictured a lovely prima ballerina.
Thanks so much for all of your videos. Now that I'm a member, I really look forward to seeing the other Jacobean crewelwork embroidery. As a textile science major in college (1975-'80), of course we studied the history of various textiles like toile, tapestry and crewel which were some things I fell in love with. I'm thrilled to finally be learning how to stitch crewel embroidery. Thanks again!

I think you mean when Sarah starts off with a “waste” knot? She just cuts it off after two small stitches and a few more stitches have been established. You’ll see her do this in most of her other videos too in closer depth. Hope that helps!
