It can break down communication barriers - and help us better understand each other by making language visible. Beyond language translation, this could be a game-changer for people with hearing impairment. Being someone with SSD (Single-sided deafness), I could see how this would be super helpful for me in noisy situations, or if my bad ear is towards someone who is trying to talk to me. Kudos to Google if this makes it to production.

Real time translation, at eye level, would make practicing a new language incredibly easy. The person wearing the glasses could see in real time what they are saying (and make sure that it is correct).

They've been working on this kind of stuff for ages. Google translate already has an active translate app that will let you have a conversation between somebody with a different language, through your earbuds.
I have contractors all the time who don't speak a word of English, just Spanish. And with Google translate on my phone, and through the pixel buds I can have an actual conversation with them.

Google glass already did augmented reality on 2012. But I hope this implementation works for the masses and not only the tech savvy. Besides a lot of people though google glass was pretentious and there were concerns about privacy, or at least that is what I remember. This "ad/promo" focuses immediately on human interaction and feelings, a 180 degree change in direction I think.

What a heartwarming video, made my eyes water! As a person with APD (Auditory Processing Disorder), this is mind blowing! I avoid large crowds and have difficulties in meetings understanding what people are saying. Having APD, words sound slurred together which makes it hard to understand and find myself constantly asking people to repeat themselves (or when too embarrassed, just nod and smile). I really do hope this comes and production I need this for when I'm washing Asian television through CZcams. The ones I like watching don't have subtitles Having your phone facing the television painful on the hand. It's especially help when we travel to foreign countries when we don't know the language.

Exactly what the world needs. I hope Google won't drop investment on this product like they often do. I also hope there's someway in which these can be available outside of the domain of the wealthy. It could quote literally change the 🌎

New technology starts out expensive and if the wealthy buy it then the company can fund research to get to mass market viability. Luckily companies are now large enough where they can fund the r&D to get to mass market viability without having to go this route.
