No point in focusing on details. Mercedes have 2 fundamental issues :
1. They don't have the huge engine advantage anymore
2. Their engineering departament is lacking since Aldo Costa left. You don't get more overrated TD's than James Allison.
First issue they cannot address sooner than 2026 while the second one I saw today that Mercedes signed Simone Resta and Enrico Sampo.
Also... they need Max Verstappen.

He's got almost double the number of wins compared to poles, that says he can win from anywhere on the grid. I like it when clueless people like you talk nonsense, it's amazing.

Mercedes got spoiled by having a rocket and no budget plafond. Now the are in the midfield both car and drivers.
Kinda exposes they aren't actually that good car designers, sure they aren't all bad top3 last season. They just had gargantrous amounts of money. But then budget cap forced then to be smarter in spending aaaand they clearly were not prepared at all.
Well, from 2021- we went from the regs being engine focused (Red Bull got a proper engine) to Aero Regs, and Mercedes has been found lacking in building a championship winning machine when aero is the winning formula. And you can't just add aero depending on how much more power overhead you have over efficient aero.

Not to mention that F1 is probably the last sport you’d want to not try 100% in. As teams can be ruthless in swapping out drivers who aren’t trying their best. That’s if Lewis wasn’t trying his best. But I believe he is and will adapt to the car eventually.

It's not just the W15, it's the rest of the teams too. If the fans want to see a great race, instead of complaining. Then the other teams (car manufacturers) have to improve their cars. Meanwhile, Russell is doing even better than Lewis.

At last someone ha admitted that the Mercedes team would not have had the current problems if Bottas was LH's team mate.
Ever since GR joined the Mercedes team, they became a mid field team & lost many of their top engineers.
The TeamLH hate for George is embarrassing and undignified.

In Melbourne, GR proved his incompetence by deliberately destroyed the Mercedes teams chances, by deliberately wrecking his car, in a vain attempt to try to overtake Fernando.
We have nothing personal against GR but his long F1 history has proved that he is the most dangerous driver, 'on track' and is holding the Mercedes team back as he is not a team player.
I don’t agree with Peter here, if I’m understanding Peter correctly. And correct me if I’m wrong.
I don’t believe Lewis is the type of guy to give up when the car’s bad. Yes the car’s not great but I don’t think he’s not going to try to do his absolute best.
On top of that, IF I’m understanding Peter correctly it almost sounds like Peter is making excuses for Lewis for him not doing as well as George so far because Lewis is more focused on next year.
Gonna be a theme this year that Lewis is already off for next year as a perfect excuse for his form
Well Hamilton has the biggest fanbase in F1 and every single individual has a book of excuses ready for Lewis in any type of scenario. I actually think Lewis Hamilton holds the Guinness Record for being the driver with the most pro bono lawyers in the history of F1. Peter Windsor is one of the more knowledgeable ones but still a fanboy nevertheless.

He's someone that had the fastest car for 6 years, the 7th was questionable being pursued by Massa..... finally, if Alonso was driving that Mercedes...it would have been on podiums in two races. Hamilton is not what you make him out to be, and Russell is out driving him.

I've been a fan of Lewis for years and have been disturbed by the ease with which many have denigrated his abilities -- he is a seven time F1 Champ FFS. But, he's now 39 years old and will be 40 when he begins driving the Ferrari -- I think this decision by the red team is foolish. They could have saved a crap ton of money and instead snapped up someone like Oliver Bearman at the start of his career. Bearman could be the next Max and Ferrari should have gone that route.
Lewis knew that this season was going to be bad. He knew that Merc’s engineers were still clueless about how to make the car work…so he decided to leave.
To be fair, Mercedes also knew Lewis is past his best and decided to only give him a short contract and no brand ambassador role.

The Mercedes is not a bad car, it is not as quick as Redbull but the drivers are simply not maximising the package. Max would win races in the Mercedes without a doubt.

@btkb1427 Max won races every year from 2016 to 2020 when Redbull was the 3rd fastest car. The deficit was far greater than the Meec deficit over the last couple of years

@zubairkhan-wb5sy Lewis is a terrific driver, as good as he has ever been. It just that he no longer has a dominant package with a wingman number 2 driver like Bottas. If he is given car that is significantly faster than the competitors again and has a Bottas type teammate, he would still be winning races.
Why doesn’t Lewis just ask Max to show him how to drive fast. I’m sure Max would help him.
Yeah instead of doing 29 photoshoots a week he could drive a simulator like the current best driver does.
