      We just used a track that allow the top bushing bolt to travel forward and back, sort of like how an alternator belt was tightened on older cars. Really amazing. Wish I could help sometime. Been trying to do things to feel connected again since I lost my wife. Went to KCMO and did some stuff with Adventures with Purpose last month and this week I went to Tulsa and was helping SV Seeker work on the boat. Outside of that have been doing some diving and made a few video's cleaning up trash or whatever.
    Many days I still just feel like I am only existing now that my wife is gone. Actually sat here and watched this and cried because she isn't here to share how awesome the work is. I know she would have loved to see it.

      Mate, hang in there. It really does get better, slowly but surely.
      Takes all sorts and everyone's different, but I found that growing veggies helped. They're good to give to neighbours and one's never short of an invitation as a result. As a way to get back with people it's a pretty good start. Wine making and brewing was strangely popular too.....;-))
      I'm a little jealous that you've been able to weigh in with SV Seeker, must be impressive in the flesh and I like the approach to problems.
      In my own field precision and finesse of design are the keys, so sometimes it's a positive pleasure to grab a club hammer and batter something large and agricultural back to shape, very cathartic as a contrast!
      Take care of yourself,

      @@robm.4512 Doug is really cool. I can understand part of the reason why he is a little temperamental when it comes to people saying everything is going to hurt, maim or kill... He gets tons of it and I have gotten some as well rebuilding SCUBA regulators. Fixed a fan in his 220 welder while I was there as the bearings decided to gum up. This was my fourth time heading out there and actually doing something.
      I know things will get better, I had a son that passed at 9 days old. Some days that still makes things hard though and it was just over 18 years ago. Being in an apartment doesn't allow me to do a ton of stuff outside and with winter coming it makes diving a major downer since I can't afford a decent drysuit. Some days are just really tough which is why I have tried to find some way to feel connected.

      @@VentShop I bet he gets fed up with the nannies. I have personally escorted, no options given, one of our HSE (health and safety executive, same as your OSHA lot) officials out of my factory, I was chief Engineer. This particular idiot insisted that we had to provide 360deg guards around our wire and buffing wheels when in operation or face prosecution....."Going to be a bit tricky to get the workpiece to the wheel then", I thought. Then I lost it with the bloke.
      To be fair, one incandescent phone call to his boss at head office had the child put under adult supervision for a considerable time. Turned out his boss had done my job for 15 years and was quite old-school too. We became quite good friends and he used to bring his new officers around our place to show them how it was done right and realistically. Through culture, awareness and foresight far more than by 1,2,3,4 regulation.
      Gotta say, it is such a pleasure to see the solutions to problems and the beautiful work on Scrappy, an absolute tour de force of cross fertilisation of concepts and solutions between different disciplines. Wonderful work!
      Cheers, Rob.

Some of the turbines have a lot of blades, even though they are not as wide as Mike's they add up, and it doesn't seem to be an issue. If you have an engine out, it could honestly be an extra issue compounded on top of the obvious depending on where the blades stop and block a lot of your view with them being so wide... could potentially bump starter for a better position if the motor isn't locked up.. hopefully never happens period.

      That is STOL-Drags "All gown up" - 6000 hp 40bar Pure Nitro - would it work?? maybe add a minimum max altitude to the rules to add one small area of complexity (or the height factor can be the "handicap") - ie. say: DRACO2 must achieve 200ft, while Freedom fox3 need only achieve 100ft, (for example) - nothing like leveling the field to bring out the punters..

    • @superskullmaster
      @superskullmaster Pƙed 3 lety
