I completely forgot about this murder scandal. It was in the news constantly at the time. I watched Spider Sabich in the Olympics, if I remember correctly. Claudine Longet’s name became infamous. If you’re a girl and beautiful, you can shoot someone and say “I thought the safety was on”. Basically get away with murder. Spider Sabitch had the coolest name for a ski pro. Or a fighter pilot! This story really jarred the memory cobwebs. Thanks Jeff!
That Man that helped you was awesome so nice 😁
He was a character! I laugh when he says “stop playing.” LOL
I remember hearing about his murder and I believed then as I do now that it was cold bloodied murder. She walked away without serving time because of her husband. Had it been the other way around he would've gone to prison. That's so sad. Great video Jeff
Thanks for the comment and compliment, Mary! Glad you liked it!
Once again, great video Jeff! The Spider Sabich story is a great example of the justice system being questionable at times and failing the victim, similar to OJ. Very sad for his family, who raised him in a small town atmosphere to become famous. Very sad story.
I lived in Placerville from 2001-2015 and didn't even know that Spider Sabich was buried there! Wow-I recall the whole sordid story of his death. You did add several facts that I didn't know, especially about his parents. Thanks!
So sad how easily people are forgotten 😞 Great video 🤩
So true! In generations your own descendants know little about you!
Yes
I remember "Hondo" from my childhood, and was a young woman when Sabich was in the Olympics. Remember all the news about his death and Andy Williams' wife. Love the history we learn from cemeteries. Thanks! Am really enjoying your videos.
Jeff educating everyone. Thanks for another home run : )
I have heard of "Hondo" but had no idea of the actor's name. Although he has a resume`, it's sad that nothing apparently caught on. I am happy he had a Part 2... I have seen documentaries about Spider's untimely death.🙏 It seems that justice did not prevail. If I remember right, Claudine Longet married one of her attorneys and still lives in Aspen. How sad for Spider's parents. Their son was murdered, it would seem, and their daughter died of brain cancer. That's a lot for parents to cope with, I would think. Thank you, Jeff for another very informative video... BTW, sometimes a nice person pops up at just the right time.👏👏
Thanks Jeff for another great episode. I've visited Placerville many times. I have friends that live there. Never knew there were celebrities buried there. I never heard Ralph Teager. I did know who Spider Sabich was though. Watched him ski during the olympics. I remember that story of him being shot well. In my opinion murdered. Never bought that story of her accidently shooting him in the back. I never liked Claudine Longet, she should've did time for murder. We were all shocked when we heard. Even more pissed off, that it was Claudine Longet. Who people blame for screwing up his career and also Andy Williams. I never knew there was a cemetary in Placerville. It is a beautiful cemetary. A band member of Tesla lives there.
I miss watching the show with my grandfather its a good show! Thanks Jeff brought back some old memories!
My friend who is from Georgetown has shared his memory's with me about Spider and his celebrity while growing up. I met my friend Deron when we moved next door to him in Roseville. Thank you Jeff for taking us on a History field trip again , I love everyone of them !
Another great episode Jeff, but missing Sarah! Love her wit and dry humor.
Now you have to convince your girl to do another video!!! Ha ha! Good Luck!
Thank you Jeff and Sara which I did not see for this episode. I believe History is important. Thankyou for expanding my knowledge.
Iwatched a lot of shows with Mr Taeger Dint know about Spider Sabich Another great bit of history well presented again Thankyou Jeff
I never heard of Ralph Taeger either. I remember watching Spider Sabich in the Olympics during high school. I never heard of his sad ending.
Wow, Ralph’s voice DID sound like Bogarts. And I enjoyed Hondo. I remember when Spider got shot and yes, the whole country believed she was guilty! Guess the detectives on the case blew it. I lived in P’ville back in the day. Beautiful place indeed..
Especially as of today , I certainly don't blame the family and friends of the skier .
I always enjoy your videos at the cemeteries, always full of information about those people you search for. Very good episode 👍
Awesome to hear, Doug! We were out over the weekend shooting more video!
Another good history tour Jeff. I was just a kid when Spider was killed. I vaguely remember that happening. And Hondo was pretty cool to. Thanks Jeff.👍🇺🇸
Well Jeff, I do remember the story and I also felt she got away with murder. How sad for the Sabich family. I live in the Placerville area, 50 years now and I have never been inside the cemetery. I have driven by it hundreds of times. I know the Taeger wood yard well. The lady of the house there has yard sales with lots of china and vintage stuff.
Jeff ,, I live in montana for 31 years, and I never heard of spider ! That's part of the reason I love all of your videos I learn something from every one of your videos. I wish you could make a one hour in-depth. Video on what ever from the old west .. Thank you Frank from montana..
Another nostalgic history lesson - Thanks.
I appreciate you both watching and commenting! It helps get our show recommended on CZcams! Happy Fourth of July, Jeff!
Great episode....am learning something new everytime you upload a video...thank you Jeff & Sarah 🙂👍🇬🇧
Good presentation on actor and skier .
Thank you for very interesting video! I really liked seeing Ralph Target in the "Hondo" Episodes. I've seen everyone of them. I think he was absolutely one of the most ruggedly handsome masculine men that ever graced the Western movie screens!
That's a beautiful place there, and the drive by them old buildings love that, great work as always Jeff 🙂🙂
Jeff another great episode thank you. I remember Ralph Taeger in the Father Murphy episode. I remember the tragedy with Spider, very sad.
Another great episode, right from my backyard! And, another chunk of my local history that I had no idea about. Thanks for all you do Jeff!
My grandparents may be buried there. Great stories. Thanks for sharing...
this is what i love about history hunters finding parts of history not just old histoory but current history as well i remember spider sabich killing like yesterday now that i've watched your video never knew he was raised in kyburz ca thank you again jeff
Jeff, I had never heard of these men before.. Thanks for some obscure yet cool history. Always entertaining.
I quite enjoy when u make videos about old west filming locations. You should do some about lassie farm location
He build house next to John Denver that is interesting. I grew up in the sixties, seventies and eighties listening to John Denver's music, huge fan. Another great video, Jeff!
WOW! Marine Cpl Betty Marie Rossi WW2 veteran. next to Spider. We do not hear much about women Marines in WW2. It would be nice to hear her story. Semper Fi.
His father’s story was pretty interesting too! He appeared to be a Captain and flew the B-25. I loved the way his Captain’s bars glistened in the sun!
Thanks for introducing us to Ralph Taeger and Spider Sabich. I had not heard of them at all.
You bet! Glad you liked our visit!
Another good one. They always are. Thank you for posting, and for your efforts to post quality stories.
"Come on, Sam...." - Hondo. I think I've seen every episode on GetTV the last few years. It's a shame that the show didn't last longer. I like it, and Ralph was a very unique actor.
Absolutely Love this channel have great week
Hello History Hunters, Thanks for sharing another great video and remembering these great people. Have a Wonderful day 🌞
I don’t know how you come up with all this fascinating history but I’m learning so much!
Awesome! That's what we like to hear! It all comes down to research, research, research and a lot of people don't want to do that!
Handsome guy.What a peaceful place
All the research and time you spend on your videos is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!
All your vids ..I don't know? there's something about them that relaxes me, Almost majestic. whatever it is don't stop ...thank you.
Wow that is really nice to hear! Thank you so much! Glad that it’s a relaxing experience for you!
I have to admit that I hadn't heard of RT or SS by name but I certainly remember Hondo. The story surrounding the death / murder of Spider Sabich was very interesting. Thank you for going into such great detail, especially for including the news footage. Quite a contrast to todays coverage. (A lot more fact based rather than the what will give us more clicks based coverage that we see today.) I look forward to watching History hunters every Sunday morning! Jeff and Sarah, thanks for all the hard work.!! :)
I'd like to see an episode of hearst castle and facts about the 101 and 1 highway and also big sur and keep those videos comin in great job Jeff and sahra for all the history facts
Hopefully we can get there for a video! Thanks!
Jeff, do an episode on "The Little Rascals", there are many spots that are still visible from back in the day.
The little school that Spider Sabich attended in Kyburz is still in operation. I am proud to be the lead teacher of Silver Fork School and we are proud of our connection to Spider. We even have a corner dedicated to him.
Awesome! So glad to hear the school is still going and that you are all proud of Spider!
Wow! Didn’t know Spider’s grave is in Placerville. I live close to “hang town”, will go see it. I remember that was a HUGE story when I was a kid. Thanks, love your channel!
Thanks again Jeff for sharing yet another informative video with us.
Andy Williams was a fantastic singer, he was among my favorites. There are several songs he recorded and, without any proof, I feel they had a big influence from his failed marriage with Claudine.
As always, I'll be looking forward to watching your next video.
Stan
another great episode Jeff, I remember Spiders story, had no idea his grave was so close by.
Always respectful videos 👏🏼
Enjoyed! TYVM!
Loved the vlog. I only remember one person and that's spider.
So close and so far from me
Have a good day
I am old enough to recall every thing you showed today.I was in 10th grade at Piedmont High School and then 11 th grade when your topics were discussed! Great show stay well, absolutely love Placerville area as much as the Dutch Flat, Colfax area! My heart is in missing mode with out Sara! ❤️
I was thinking of Spider watching the Olympics. Claudine got away with murder in my humble opinion. Thanks for presenting this
You aren’t alone in your summation that a murder was committed and that young lady got away with it.
@@jbenziggy I was in my 20's when this happened and I followed the case. I was angered when she was essentially given a get out of jail card
My cousin hung out in Aspen and said everyone knew it was a joke of a punishment and Claudine shot him deliberately. She was shunned by many people after the verdict.
So glad he had a photo of himself with his horse.
Another great show Jeff.I like when you include the clips of different things of what each person you highlight has accomplished. So interesting. It can be a little disheartening how time erases the memories of their accomplishments😔
Thank you Jeff!
Thank you for watching!
Jeff great history hunters video I enjoyed it 👍
Amazing what you can find even though the people working there had no clue! Thanks for the cool info again Jeff.
Nice job as usual! I have a co-worker that moved from Placerville (in Colorado now). Will have the person watch your video! May learn something new, I did!
Thank you for sharing people's stories. I have read about Spider. Andy Williams' biography also tells of that time from his perspective.
Amazing that someone actually moved to Kyburz d/t a job! Blink and you'll miss it on the way up to Tahoe!---I know OF Hondo, but don't remember watching any episodes. Living in a small town with black-n-white TV, and 3 stations, I only remember watching STAR TREK! (And after I went to college, the family room in our co-ed dorm was JAMMED on Star Trek re-run nights!)
Fantastic work on two great stories , thanks for sharing
Thanks so much. . Your a natural with making these videos .
Thank you again for all the information you provide us with, it makes it all much interesting. Love any type of history.
very well done !!!!
Great video. I remember seeing the story about Spider on an episode of Dominick Dunne's Power, Privilege, and Justice.
I liked that episode Jeff. I never knew about Spider Sabich but the name sounds very familiar.
👍👍👍👊
Another awesome episode! 👍
Thanks again!
Awesome episode!! Thank you for the well done research. I had heard of “Spider” before, but not all the background.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed our walk with history! LOL
What a lovely cemetery! I vaguely remember Spider and Ralph was a little before my time. Both beautiful! And both stories very fascinating. Another excellent job Jeff!
Your vlogs are always very well done. I do enjoy the research that you do to give so much depth to your vlogs. Thank you for a wonderful trip today
Nice can’t wait to watch this one .
I remember the Sabich case well. It was the top news item for months. For some reason, skiing was a bigger deal then than it is now.
thanks for this interesting story. I remember spider was shot back then , but did not have these details.
I would love you to do more history on Spider’s story. Sounds interesting!
Learned something new! Thank you!
Thanks for watching and commenting Gail!
Thanks another well put together video.
Thanks very much, Gary!
Hi, I love your video's.
They're great they show good quality stories etc.
And i could never go in person as i live so far away. Credit to the guy who helped you find Vladimir Sabich grave! He seemed like such a nice man max respect to him and to you too Jeff.
So thankyou for the video's
All the best from Liverpool UK 🙂👍
Hi Jeff and Sarah. Another great video and a thumbs up as always. These Hollywood history videos are pure gold and I really enjoy them. I didn’t know anything about Spider before this video. Such a tragic story of a life cut short. I had to chuckle about the way Taeger’s acting skills were described by editor Richard Donovan. Oh boy, if Donovan could only see the actors of today 😳 😄
Great video!! Thanks!
Great video!
Just found you and am loving the channel. A great fan of famous graveyard videos and with the ones I watch, I always want to know just that bit more and in your videos I’ve found that. This is the 3rd one I’ve watched and have now subscribed. Kind regards Sharon London UK ❤️
Awesome, thank you! We have quite a few fans in the U.K.!
I remember Spider Sa
vage. You did a great job on this video. Have you ever watched Hollywood Graveyard?
Great video! I really enjoyed it
Great job guy’s! I always enjoy learning about something new and interesting and you always come thru and do an excellent job presenting the story and detailing the history behind it. Keep up the great work! See ya on the next on. Take care now, Frank from Philadelphia, PA.
Thank you; this was quite informative.
Very Good Vlog....Thanks....
We buy firewood from the firewood supply that Ralph owned with his family. His wife is really nice. Great vlog Jeff!
So happy to hear she is nice and doing well!
@@jbenziggy yeah she really is! once it was really raining while I loading my truck with firewood and getting soak and when I went up to the pay "shack" where she was and saw that I was soaking wet, what was about $110 worth of wood in the truck, she felt bad and only charged me $60
Very well done 👍.Especially like the old clips of the people and times! Must take a lot of time and research!👍👍
Hello J&S. unfortunately I didn't know about this two gentlemen, thanks to you now I know a lttle bit about them.. As always great video, and a fascinating way to explain the history in each video.. Cheers!!
