The Sherpa's should legally be given the last say on wether or not to allow a STRUGGLING climber to continue on. After all,..THEY and only they will be obligated to fix the deadly chaos created by the selfish. Besides, who else but they (Sherpa) would clearly recognize and be unbias to the signs of someone truly struggling to the point of uneasiness within the Sherpa's.
I agree with you. Sherpas want their clients to succeed, but know it isn't worth a life to do it. Unfortunately, clients tend to fall for the sunk cost fallacy, as for many, this could be their one and only chance to summit. Not to mention altitude sickness and the plethora of other issues that many are far outside of their element in dealing with in these instances. I don't believe I'd ever put myself in a situation like this, but if I did, I'd like to think I'd listen to the locals because who else would know better?
The reason this woman, Anjali Sharad Kulkarni, is in this state (in part) has to do with the over crowded lines of people going up/down the summit. The delay in being able to move more quickly while in the death zone, is a cause of this happening. The Sherpas should have more authority in who gets to make the ascent, and how many at a time to reduce the overcrowding.
@@carolinerothenberg3982 I agree! In all the videos I've watched, it never ceases to amaze me how even experienced climbers will compromise on the common basic principles as to whether an ascent should even be attempted, but do it anyway to their hurt and others.

Never climb a mountain unless you know for a fact you have the energy for it and know the deadly risk cause others will leave you to not risk there own lives 😢
I agree with you statement, but it is not the lack of energy that is killing people. Its the lack of Oxygen. Once you get up high enough it starts to slowly kill you and thats why they call it the death zone!
How do you "know for a fact"? 😏 There have been 9 deaths just over the past week on Everest, many of them very fit, experienced, and trained climbers. Altitude sickness can strike out of nowhere. PS- hey 805, nice. I'm from Ventura 😁
The sherpas are born in highlands and they can adjust to its weather, but for us climbing there let alone having cardiac problems and not not experienced climber is a death sentence..... God bless to the Sherpas.... they are really tough! Without their help no once could climb there i think....
It can happen to a climber to develop cardiac issues but its not the main issue. Altitude sickness is mostly the main cause of death,lungs/brain problems...lung fluids cause you to drown in your won body and the lack of oxygen in the brain that can develop into severe cases of hypoxia.
I made it up Everest and it was so beautiful. Clear crisp day then I fell and was sliding hollering and woke up . I was dreaming lol but man it was so nice before I fell in my dream

I can only imagine how frustrating this must be. Telling someone they should stay down but they refuse because they’re ignorant and egotistical, then having to save their dumbass after LIKE THIS.
They need to have a situation where what the Sherpas say is "law" on the mountain. They know what they are doing, and they apparently advised her not to climb, but she wouldn't listen to them. 🤷🏻♀️
I think that was the guy that they help to bringing him down to the next station, they were waiting for him there to give him support, because he had ran out of oxygen, but he survived! The paramedics were going to pick him up in the next estation because the helicopter couldn't fly that altitud because of the weather, but he survive!
When someone with immense knowledge and experience is telling you to go back down the mountain, it would be extremely foolish to not listen and ignore their advise.😳😲

don't forget , more sherpas die on everest feeding the ego's of people who can afford to tick off their bucket list. It's such bullshit. Go visit the sherpa families that are left destitute that are never seen on youtube .
What is so unbelievably frustrating to watch is how these people not only put their lives in danger but than put the lives of others around them in danger also.
Please leave our sacred Himalayas alone . Don’t climb and then thrash the place down , please don’t climb if you have medical conditions and please don’t put Sherpas lives at risk too . There are hundreds of other exciting activities you can do like going to an amusement park bunji jumping or sky diving . Those who are considering climbing please read all the comments and reconsider . It’s not easy and it’s not fun either and people like us have to watch these videos helplessly feeling terrible about it all .
Those Sherpas rely on westerners etc for money, for a job that puts food on the table. They'd be really annoyed if they knew the likes of you were trying to eradicate their industry.
Honestly only the best of the best should be doing this. You have to be in perfect shape and strong will of mind so that when things go wrong you will overcome any obsticle.
The majority of deaths on Everest happen on the way down. There is something called “summit fever” that makes people who would normally turn back keep going to reach the summit. It has claimed many people. When you get over 8000 meters it’s well known if you can’t get up you won’t get help. Aka on your own. There has been 1 or 2 miracles where a person survived a night in the death zone without oxygen.
Saw the documentary I think is this very couple. She didn’t make it and her husbands tears rolling down in the interview. Very sad but they asked for it. How in the world would someone with heart problems risk doing this or running a marathon?! Is asking the heart muscle to give up if already weaken by some issue. Also parents who have young children still to care for why in the world take such risks and leave those children you brought to this world abandoned for simply being so selfish for you to go ahead and try kill yourself in some freaking mountain known to offer plenty death sentences. What kind of arrogant pride is it when they have to carry so much and also abuse the lives of others sherpas and helicopters to come rescue you. I fail to see it. So other sports available where you don’t need others to brag. Pointless. Yeah, sad to see the woman about to pass out but they asked for it. I’ll try not to cry. Dumb and dumber really. Just experience the beauty much lower and no need to carry so much trash/other lives to rescue you.

I believe that's Anjali Sharad Kulkarni, I saw this clip from 2023 documentary. Her husband was able to summit and saw her on his way down already on that state and was told that he needed to descend right due to lack of oxygen, so he had to leave his wife and say his goodbye while his wife says save me or something. It was really heartbreaking.😢
I believe this was a woman of indian origin she and her husband had saved to climb everest. She died on the mountain. Her husband having watched her die through lack of oxygen, survived her.
The sheer bravery of that woman attempting such a grand and noble challenge! She was willing to spend an average of $54,972 to make this most bold and heroic attempt! I imagine starving children world over will sing songs in her honor as well they should…. Bravo! Bravo! Once I read about the first disabled man to successfully summit Everest with NO FINGERS! I was just super impressed until I found out he was born with fingers but lost them in a previous mountain climbing adventure…. Then I just thought he was kind of the disabled version of stolen valor in the military….. What is the Himalayan phrase for “privileged assholes not worthy of respect” (asking for a friend)
I saw a documentary on her and her husband. This was moments before her death. She was 50+ and it was on the South Summit. The husband said, they were talking before the trip "what shall we do, buy another Mercedes, or climb Everest?". The fucking husband left her behind when she was struggling. He was more sad that he didn't get a photo on the summit (the Sherpa told him it was too cold to take off the gloves to press the trigger of the camera) than that his wife died. He had a street in his hometown named after her (they were rich). Disgusting behavior overall.

What?
I agree with you. Sherpas want their clients to succeed, but know it isn't worth a life to do it. Unfortunately, clients tend to fall for the sunk cost fallacy, as for many, this could be their one and only chance to summit. Not to mention altitude sickness and the plethora of other issues that many are far outside of their element in dealing with in these instances. I don't believe I'd ever put myself in a situation like this, but if I did, I'd like to think I'd listen to the locals because who else would know better?

@@RogerLewis-ey2ttwhatever weight they brought should be the same weight when they leave.

The sherpas are born in highlands and they can adjust to its weather, but for us climbing there let alone having cardiac problems and not not experienced climber is a death sentence..... God bless to the Sherpas.... they are really tough! Without their help no once could climb there i think....
It’s not just the weather but better lung capacity which they acquired over time.
They ought to build gondolas to take tourists up there.
It can happen to a climber to develop cardiac issues but its not the main issue.
Altitude sickness is mostly the main cause of death,lungs/brain problems...lung fluids cause you to drown in your won body and the lack of oxygen in the brain that can develop into severe cases of hypoxia.
They are genetically adapted

Saw the documentary I think is this very couple. She didn’t make it and her husbands tears rolling down in the interview. Very sad but they asked for it. How in the world would someone with heart problems risk doing this or running a marathon?! Is asking the heart muscle to give up if already weaken by some issue.
