This is one of my favorite live performances of Rammstein. It really showcases Tills vocal abilities. I am STOKED it was unblocked!!! And as usual, your breakdown of the performance and song is spot on in a critical way. Wish more reactors were this critical!! Keep up the epic work!

Same, I also love that fan singing near the end. I found lot of those at the Völkerball show. Not my favorite show (great though) but my favorite crowd there. All insanly connected to the play as if they forgot themselves. Really good.

The show opener for this concert was Rammlied. Ich tue dir weh was played rather towards the end of the concert I think
This was the opener only during their 2013 Summer Tour. During other tours it was mostly in the middle.
This song was my intro to rammstein wow, they are a great metal band and showmanship is off the charts for sure and til's vocals right before he is lifted on the platform shows the vulnerability of the lyrics he transforms into his vocals emotional and vulnerable delivery......sheer perfection
Rammstein used about 4 tons of Lycopodium from Chinese harvest for their 2012 American tour, although the Chinese annual harvest was only about 11 tons.
Actually (as with almost every Rammstein song) you can have multiple meanings for these lyrics: first, and most obvious, is that the song is about BDSM (like you've said), second is that this song is about abusive relationships in general, an third, most interesting, is that the vocalist is singing about abusive relation to himself (there is one specific line in the lyrics, based on which you can make such an assumption). As always, great reaction :) P.S. Yes, Till can sing ;) You should check "Ohne Dich" and check yourself :D But to have a full emotional experience with that song, I may recommend you an official video with English subs, since lyrics in this one are so freakin well written :) Same situation with "Deutschland" - only official vid with English subs (it's really important to understand what Till is singing about).

I bring you pain, love it. I was at that show in 2011 at the gardens, the show opened with Rammlied. Ich Tu Dir Weh was like the 9th song in the setlist. I bring you pain is what Ich Tu Dir Weh means by the way. This song as about Sadomasochism, you will get a laugh if you get the translations of the lyrics. Also, that show had shitloads of pyrotechnics! Till is a pyrotechnic expert and designs all the flame effects for every show, that song didn't have a lot but the rest of the show had more than enough to make up for it, even those face masks during Fire Frei, which translates roughly to Fire Freely, or more grammatically correct in English, Fire at will.

My father was a fire fighter for over 40 years, he retired from the LAFD as a Captain III. His father (my grandfather) was also a firefighter, but I don't think he ever went for Captain. If I remember correctly he made it to Engineer II. So I do know a little bit about fire by default, but I have no interest in ever becoming a fire fighter.
I'm always confused when I have to say which band is my favorite, if it's Rammstein or Nightwish. Rammstein shows more real and also the worst side of the human being, the bad, raw side, where humanity is heading, the cruelty, how primitive we are, the scream. Nightwish shows beauty, art, magic, enchantment, science, hope. Sometimes I can't listen to Nightwish because I get so emotional and I can't stop crying. Tuomas enters my brain and puts me in touch with deep emotions. Till always reminds me that even though I'm a nice and very calm person, I also have my rough and primitive side. I love these two bands so much and my dream is to follow them on tour in Europe. I hope one day to have money for it.

Hello @David Heretic, I'll tell you a story about Rammstein. They opened for Kiss in São Paulo, Brazil, around 90´s. In the crowd were families with children, grandparents, regular Kiss fans. There was a performance in the middle of Rammstein shows at that time where Tiil simulated a rape on the keyboard player (he always suffers at shows) using a huuuuuuge vibrator. They did it in front of the stunned audience. Parents covering children's eyes, scandalized screams from the audience, what a mess! Kiss' manager apologized a lot the next day or at their concert, I don't remember, “we didn't know they do things like that”, hahahahahahaha.
After that they were famous in Mexico.😂

Yes its about self harm..Till likes pain..and has gone to some extremes..ex. The cuts he has in The Mein Herz Brennt (piano version) video are real..the flogging they all do in the Rosenrot music video is real... These guys are dedicated to the group and to each other..If you check out the songs Ohne Dich and Haifisch and read the lyrics it explains that they all stick together..nothing gets passed unless all 6 agree...if someone is having problems they will postpone whatever they are doing to help that person..these 6 men have known each other in one way or another since before Rammstein was formed in 1994. The same 6 have been together ever since..never a replacement or change in lineup.
I think but not sure..that only like 2 or 3 times they performed where i believe Paul wasn't present and another where Flake wasnt present..
But not like this. He doesn't mind that much. But he travels, for example, for 3 weeks with a friend along the Yukon or the Amazon. With a canoe. Catch fish, cook snakes and eat them. Living in tents. That's the way he's on it.

Unfortunately the chorus here is playback. I've seen them twice and the first time i saw them, the chorus was also playback. I didn't mind it at all, the show was awesome. The second time he actually sang it on top of a faint playback but it sounded like he was extremely nervous. I don't know the reason but i feel like the decision to use playback is because of Tills stage fright and he is not confident enough to "actually" sing and feel like he's embarrassing himself and/or let the fans down.
I don't mind either way, they are STILL the best live band i have ever seen and hoping to see them again
I think it's more for the "production" of the show. It's hard to sing higher notes at the end of gig while doing many many shows during a 3 to 5 year period like Rammstein did. His vocals would have blown out.
What will you tell us with your comment ? Many bands uses playbacks or douple voices...but if you hear the 2019 European Tour...only the chorus of Puppe was maybe playback but besides this the whole concert was live...so your comment is totally superfluous
You misunderstood something. This song wasn't really "banned" in Germany. Never. "Indexed" just means you cannot market it, it doesn't mean it's illegal. If someone comes into a music store and asks for an indexed record as an adult, he will be able to buy the indexed record (if it is on stock). "Indexed" in Germany just means you cannot sell it to non-adults and you cannot market on it in any way, because that would the non-adults (in germany that's under 18 years old) attract to stuff they cannot handle. That's all. It doesn't mean it's illegal to own or sell or buy. I mean, even in the US, you wouldn't give out a drivers license to a 5 year old, would you? Same thing basically. Indexed is just a kind of listed, not outlawed.
Edit: by the way, did you have had any german lessons or ancestors? I'm new to your channel, but I noticed your pronounciation of german is pretty fluent and accurate without any big accent. I'm just curious.
Apparently I'm about a quarter German, not sure if that helps. I've always been fascinated with the German language, I've always loved how strong and authoritative it sounds.

yes, definitely Rammstein does lots of playback effects in their concerts.. not because they have to fake talent but because they are perfectionists and they want their audience/fans to have the best experience . Their whole show is meticulously timed like a broadway musical stage show,They are very entertaining to watch .. ( hopefully coming to North America next summer..l have tickets to Montreal show... and Zürich too actually) .
