    Not going to lie. This all looks intimidating. I wish I can afford even an impeller upgrade.
    I have a 2018 FX SVHO Cruiser, bought it new (and still making payments on it :/ )
    First thing I did to it was the Riva engine breather. That’s the only engine “mod” I have done.
    I can’t afford all the fancy mods but did put some ODI grips and some JetTrim seat covers on it.
    I did make a video on how to install the Worx Trim Extension on my other channel. LakeLife951. But have not had a chance to get it on the water yet. It “supposed” to add 2-3 MPH. So we will see since my max speed stock is 66-68 MPH.
    Im trying to start the LakeLife951 channel. So I plan on doing a review of it since there is nothing on CZcams I found about it.
    My dream would be to have a Stage 2 or 3 kit. But it’s just a dream.
    I did order a knock off Riva BOV from Bull Boost which uses the knock off HKS BOV Riva uses, but I did not get a vacuum hose with it so I am hoping they send me one. It was also supposed to be pre installed, and it wasn’t. It was half the price of the Riva and I was able to use a gift card on Walmart of all places for it. So we will see.
    Once reason why I don’t want to upgrade the air intake, unless I can get a Riva one because I want to make sure it has the marine filter for it, not a paper one.
    I would love to at the bare minimum have do a Riva BOV, Riva Air, Impeller, and Riva rear exhaust. I think I would be happy with just those. Maybe one day.
    And sponsons. Can’t forget those. Those would be first on my list just to help with chop and stable riding.

    I had an old 2003 gp1300r stock was about 65mph I put a lot of money in it from a upgraded water box to a new ride plate and intake grate and new prop and it gained maybe a mph or two but I raced a new gp1800 even thought it I’d bigger it was quicker and had a higher top speed of 70 I was impressed with the stock performance and even with just the speed limiter removed it gained another 5mph I think 75 is plenty fast for someone who doesn’t do it for a sport just to have fun on the weekend 75 is plenty.

    Hey there, how do you gain on both, top end speed and acceleration with a re-pitch of the impeller, don’t you always gain on one and lose on the other?

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  Před 3 lety +4

      A general rule of thumb is that higher RPMs bring higher top speed. Re-pitching the impeller to get higher RPMs will allow the engine to spin faster more easily which brings harder acceleration. Top speed and acceleration will typically increase or decrease together, not one or the other.

    • @ShutterMAX
      @ShutterMAX Před 3 lety

      @@GreenHulkGarage I’m sorry but that is wrong. It’s true, re-pitching will increase or decrease RPMs but whenever you re-pitch you will either get better top speed or better hole shot, not both. When one improves, the other suffers.

      Getting your information from a company that has a bad reputation and is known for selling knockoff impellers is not the wisest thing to do. We’ve been in business for over 15 years and have an excellent reputation behind us. Every watercraft has a set rev-limiter, depending on the tune you are running it will vary. I typically pitch my impellers to run 150-200 RPMs less than the rev-limiter to avoid hitting the rev-limiter. In this case that meant re-pitching my impeller to reach a peak RPM of 8500. If I were to run 8000 RPMs instead my engine would be working harder and not be able to accelerate as fast. Less RPMs also mean less pump pressure creating less thrust. This was proven in a previous video when I had a slower top speed and acceleration when turning 8000 RPMs. impellers.com’s analogy to a motorcycle transmission does not apply to personal watercraft in any way shape or form. The information on their website is simply incorrect. Any time RPMs are increased, you will gain acceleration and potential top speed. Jet pump impellers cannot be compared to motorcycle transmissions or boat propellers where the logic of gaining top speed but losing bottom end acceleration holds true.

      @@ShutterMAX In a straight gearing relationship on a normally aspirated engine, your statement would most likely be true. On these SC engines, you decrease the pitch for bottom end and the increase in RPM creates more boost and allows the engine to run a higher RPM overcoming the lower gearing. You do in fact get more acceleration and higher speed.

    I know this is a a Yamaha video. But I put a SCOM, intake, free flow and catch can and I’m only running 75. I only have 5.5 hours on it. Does it not completely unlock until 10 or am I just slow

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  Před 2 lety

      That is the correct speed. You may notice a slight gain once the engine is fully broken in, but it is no longer limited by the computer. The SCOM isn’t a tune, it just removes the speed limiter. To notice a significant increase in acceleration and top speed you would have to tune it. With a tune you can take more advantage of the air intake and get close to 80 mph if not over 80 mph. I personally use the MaptunerX tunes and have outstanding results with them.

    Does a tune break the warranty?

    • @GreenHulkGarage
      @GreenHulkGarage  Před 2 lety

      They cannot “void” your entire skis warranty for doing a mod to your ski.
      They can “deny coverage” on a failed item if the modification is proven to have caused the failure, but your entire skis warranty is not VOID!!
      For example, let’s say you reflash your ecu with a performance tune. If your steering breaks, instrument cluster goes bad, a sensor goes bad, etc, then the reflash could not have caused one of those items to fail so they cannot deny coverage.
      Now, if you have some sort of engine failure then they could absolutely deny coverage on the motor repair.
      Point i’m trying to make, is your entire skis warranty is not VOID if you mod your ski. Research Magnusson Moss Warranty Act. It protects us consumers when modding our skis 👍
