LECA- lightweight expandable clay aggregate. I got mine for cheaper at IKEA. They are mainly clay and charcoal. I use them with my Orchid mix. I think here he’s using them more for the cleansing of the charcoal and the esthetics. You use them with orchids bc clay absorbs the excess moisture and then rereleases the moisture as needed and charcoal helps keep funguses away from orchids. 😄
