    Great job as always: I have 2 Carrier chiller micro- chanel coils to change out on a 100 ton unit. Carrier actually sent us 6 coils. I guess in case one of the new ones should leak.

      5 years ago, I changed a coil on a 55 ton Aqua Smack, twice, and only the first was warranty. It's just wrong for manufacturers to get away with this kind of poor quality and it didn't just start.

    I've installed about 50 of these over the last 6 yrs never had a call back on a leak....I'm in southern cali no sure if that makes a difference maybe an east coast thing, but what I will say is people don't read the manual and clean these things with chemicals and that 100% will cause them to leak... One thing I do stay away from is micro channel evap coils. good video thanks for sharing.

      I’m getting two new 3 ton Airtemps in Kentucky soon. Hope they don’t leak. Some folks seem ok with them but others hate them like here. Title nervous lol

      @@neilinky9904 bro like I said I started out with AirTemp there is nothing wrong with them! I have 7+ yrs in them no issues. Just tell the customers don’t let anytime clean them with chemicals and keep the pets piss away! If installed right will last for years!!!!👍🏽💪🏽

    I never sweat the pipes apart unless absolutely necessary. Wastes too much torch gas.

      Yes, the cost of acetylene and MAPP gas has gone way up. I used propane and StayBrite 8 to install my HVAC equipment.

    I think its safe to say, "stay away from micro channel coils" lol. Which manufacturers use them?

  • @rcinfla9017
    @rcinfla9017 Před 11 měsíci

    Is it normal for microchannel condensers to run with low subcooling temp? I noticed AirTemp manual only specifies outdoor temp vs high/low side pressures for charging and doesn't mention subcooling temp. I am uncomfortable just relying on the pressures and outdoor temp. Their charging instructions seems willy-nilly when you read the notes section.
    Main reason for microchannel heat exchangers is requires less refrigerant load. Not a lot of condenser volume margin for refrigerant load variance and variable outside ambient temp conditions with a fixed speed compressor.

    • @JeffsHVACAdventures
      @JeffsHVACAdventures  Před 11 měsíci

      They call it and approach chart. I agree it’s not great. You basically cross your outdoor temp with your liquid line temp. If it’s below the curve they say add, if it’s above they say remove. It’s pretty lame I agree

    Can you still buy the traditional coil vs micro channel junk

    • @JeffsHVACAdventures
      @JeffsHVACAdventures  Před 2 měsíci

      Not usually for the condenser coil. I’ve gotten tube and fin to replace micro channel Evaps before though. But if it’s a heat pump both coils need to match.

    How long do these coils usually take you to replace

    • @JeffsHVACAdventures
      @JeffsHVACAdventures  Před měsícem

      These particular ones I can do in 2.5 hours with an hour of that being vacuum. but I usually bid them for 4 to cover myself in case I run into something crazy.
