    Can an evil stepsister who never ceased to ridicule, mock and destroy everything that came her way, ever have a chance of changing? On the night of the Prince’s famous royal ball, the Prince found Cinderella, his true love, and from that moment on nothing could stop her destiny to marry him and to become a princess. After Cinderella rose out of her adversity this is the part of the stepsisters stories where a nexus occurs for them. What can they do in the world when a woman they looked down upon achieves everything they ever desired? Although in many tales such as the original Cinderella by Charles Perrault, Once Upon A Time, the 2015 Cinderella and the original plans for Cinderella III: A Twist In Time are all stories where Drizella is forgiven, in Disney’s final version of the animated Cinderella series though, Anastasia seeks forgiveness and is redeemed while Drizella is not. Based on everything we know about Drizella though is their hope for her?

    I once read a fanfic where Lady Tremaine became sick and Drizella fell in love with the young doctor taking of her but he was put off by the fact she didn't even know basic household things so with Cinderella and Anastasia's help she learned how to be a proper adult woman and win over the doctor despite Tremaine demanding she leave the doctor once she was well.

    in the first timeline i think Drizella could change a bit quicker because she saw her own sister stand up to her mother. maybe in that moment she would question some things about her mother and her own behavior. yet i think in the second timeline she learns magic is real and the reason why she was so cruel was because now her mother and herself could have whatever they wanted, there was no reason to work for anything. so when her sister is having doubts drizella is being cruel to keep her sister in check to make her go through with the plan, drizella fears her mother, you do see that in cinderella three, so i think in this timeline drizella would have to work harder to acheive her happy ending amazing video watso i really liked this one

      I also like to think that since Drizella was the older sister and the first born for Tremaine, she also has a lot of pressure on her to not let her mother down and playing as an example for her younger sister. Also since she is described as the "clever one" of the two sisters, I can see Drizella following her head more than she does her heart while Anastasia is the polar opposite, and because of this, she really doesn't see the error of her ways and does exactly what her mother and role model has taught her. For all her life she's been taught to believe that money, social position and power bring happiness and that those whose lives are "inferior" live a life of misery. Drizella isn't as sensitive as Anastasia and that's why it takes her a lot more courage and time to break through from her own comfort zone and start to question the things she has learned from her mother. What I think Drizella would need to start her own redeeming process is to be separated from her mother. Once she's free, even from a moment, from her manipulative mother's grasp, she might be able to see that there is life worth living for and happiness to be found outside the nobility, and that holding a high social position also brings a great deal of responsibility.

      Wotso Videos
      Would be great, but I think it would undermine why Anastasia’s story is impactful. Drizella deserves a chance at happiness but her story is meant to drive an example.
      Anastasia and Drizella were raised under similar circumstances by Lady Tremaine. Wealthy, self-entitled, noble, and intended to be married off for wealth and status. Like manystep children, Cinderella is treated poorly by the other family. The children behave how their mother treats their new family addition.
      Drizella’s path of loyalty and full belief in her mother’s thoughts on life show her example of favor from her mother. How Drizella was always at her mother’s side rather than her sibling’s. She cares not if men or any concept of love.
      When Anastasia leaves for the baker, Drizella is shocked and questioning of her own life. But decides to take the easier path rather than the one of troubles. Her lack of personal agency makes her a pawn to her mother. But one can see she is worried in that moment that her sister abandoned all that she was taught for something Drizella never fathomed to be key to happiness.
      Anastasia and Drizella are two stories on the same path. You can walk a similar road but have vastly different outcomes. If one seeks more for the heart, rather than their greed.

    Well, Drizella, much like her mother, is just raised as women of their time and status are raised -- as a tool to bring fame, rich and power to their families.
    Both Tremayne and Drizella were never raised to yearn for freedom, or romance. They were only taught that their purpose is to bring honor to their family, and such can be seen when they had the wand, they could've easily made themselves wealth, fame and even ruler of the country. They could've granted themselves anything they wanted without relying on others.
    But what did Tremayne wish for? Not money, not power, not youth -- something that'd benefit her directly, but for her daughter to become bride of the prince.
    This is all the "happiness" they were taught of, to dress up, have elegant hobbies, then marry off to some rich guy to continue such routine. That's the extent of their knowledge for life's purpose. Which is a pretty sad thing to say that it actually did happened to noble women of their era.

    • @l4dy0c3
      @l4dy0c3 Před 4 lety +42

      I honestly think that if a live-action version of Cinderella was redone to accommodate both sisters - or something or other - I think that Drizella would either see herself or be married off to some rich man like her mother wanted but find out that it wasn't the life she'd always imagined it to be. Once she sees how miserable a noble life could be - because I don't think there were too many happy marriages in that class - and saw how happy here sisters were after finding love, maybe it'll make her do some self-reflecting go against her mother's wishes. I'd also hope to have some sort of flashback in Madam Tremaine's life to find out how she got to be who and what she is.
      I never watched Once Upon a Time, so I don't know if any of this was actually done in the show or not.

(Ehm Star Wars... ) that is why I truly believe in my heart that Cinderella 2 happens after Cinderella 3 😂 I don’t even care about Cinderella and The Prince as a little kid I just thought that Anastasia and the baker were the cutest couple lmao I just love the idea that him coming into her life made her realize that wealth status and looks don’t create happiness. What matters is how you treat others, who you surround yourself with, and purpose. I just think the second movie is really sweet as a whole 😂

    I think if Drizella is removed from her mother's bad influence things would speed a little faster. In psychology negative influences make it harder to leave,b/c its what they know and they're afraid to venture out and do things on their own. She needs both Cinderella and Anastasia's help to make her realize that. More positive influences will get her out of the negative,abusive environment

      I think that personally Anastasia used the wand to send Drizella 10,000 miles from her leadership and prevent her from going back by creating a wall that couldn’t be broken, subsequently leading to Tremaine having an emotional breakdown from no longer having the support and guidance of Drizella, meanwhile Drizella is finding her way around and meets someone who cares for her and returns to Tremaine and decides to transform her into a statue for her cruel treatment of her and her two siblings and leave to go back to where she was.

    To quote Grandpa Joe from Willy Wonka, "What she needs is a good kick in the pants." You make some good points in this video. I think the key to Drizella's redemption is to separate her from Tremaine. Since Tremaine is the main influence, keeping Drizella's away from her seems like the best option. The next would be to make her get a job to learn about hard work. And have her boss be someone who doesn't take her BS.

    Drizella is highly influenced by her mother. As long as that abusive/ parasitic bond is untethered, it is nearly impossible for her to change. I believe Drizella's change lies best in two options. 1. She is forced to live a life of servitude which forces independence and she eventually learns to leave her mother's shadow. 2. Lady Tremaine finds true love or redemption and urges Drizella to change as well.

    You know, I'm not big on disney or even really movies for that matter, but I feel you left out a super important detail: dress color and how it correlates to the step sisters' desires. Drizella wears a green dress and Anastasia wears a maroon/pink dress. It seems that the reason that Drizella didn't get a redemption arc like Anastasia did is because her loyalty is steadfast with their mother, but it's not due to an unwillingness to change or immaturity, it's because she is envious (hence the green dress). Drizella wants to make her mother proud and obtain the life of luxury through the means that her mother has taught her. She searches for validation from her mother so she can feel fulfilled. Anastasia in her pink dress wants to fall in love like cinderella did to obtain the life of luxury that her mother taught her to want. Of course when push comes to shove, Anastasia finds love more important than money, which allows her to break from her mother. This is also probably another reason for the differences in dress color since Drizella seems to want money/status more than anything. On another note, the deep purples and reds of the evil step mother's dress imply power as well as evil intentions. Color is important!

    If I could make a parallel, Drizella is similar to Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender) in the sense that they both are extremely loyal to their abusive parent.
    Drizella never betrays Lady Tremaine while Azula gave up on Ozai only when he lost everything.
    They both also have a modeled worldview based on using power to get whatever you want. For Azula, that power is in manipulation and fire-bending prowess. For Drizella, that power comes from wealth and status.

    Also notice how the two sisters' different personalities and will to change are evidenced in both Cinderella 2 and 3: it is *Anastasia* the one that looks beyond status and riches and stays with the baker, it's *Anastasia* the one that decides to leave the Tremaine property and venture into the woods and sees Cinderella's secret. *Anastasia* is the one that has a tendency to question, to see what's beyond, to wonder and explore and find for herself, that's why she also has that longing for love, while Drizella is more comfortable under her mother's watch, where she has the luxuries she wants and is, basically, in her comfort zone. It's interesting to evidence these personalities from their choices! Not saying Drizella can't or will never change, but just an observation of the sisters' paths and the fact that maybe a redemption arch was easier seen on Anastasia (at least in Cinderella 2 and 3) based on her choices than it would've been on Drizella.

    More importantly though: If Drisella is the first-born then she's more likely to not be able to escape Tremaine's conditioning to become a driven apathetic heartless woman after a man of power. Anastasia was more fortunate because she was younger.

    @CeltycSparrow Před 3 lety +5

    I WILL say this for Drizella. In the final season of the show Once Upon a Time, they create a storyline where Cinderella and her family are part of it. Lady Tremaine is the villain and Cinderella (or Jacinda as she is called in the real world) is in love with Henry. While Drizella is INITIALLY her mother's little minion and enjoys terrorizing her stepsister and niece (Cinderella's daughter, Lucy), AND Regina (who she cruelly wakes up from her memory sleep only to inform that Henry WILL die if he kisses Cinderella) she eventually discovers that her own sister, Anastasia, is alive (somehow, they thought she had died.....I think by magical means) and Drizella makes the choice to protect her sister rather than follow Gothel (another villain's) terrible schemes. She takes Anastasia far away to protect her from Gothel. I find that worthy of respect. She thought of Anastasia before her own power.

  • @swankelly
    @swankelly Před 5 lety +7

    Funny, how in the Once upon a Time version she's a villain but it's driven by her resentment towrds her mother, who is the main person she wants to hurt and Anastasia is the favorire.

In every scene where the sisters were being mean to Cinderella, it was either their mother or Drizella who started it while Anastasia just stands there only joining in the taunting after it has begun.

I'm working on a fanfic for her where she gets her happy ending and even gets a partner. She gets to study what she loves and even finds love. I see her similarly as Amity from The Owl House, all she needs is to find the one person who brings the best out of her.
