    Thanks for the real time demo. Just what I needed.

    Thank you! We got the tent up quickly but not so with the fly. This was a lot of help.

    Thanks for the demo! How does it hold up in high winds?

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  Před 3 lety +2

      We have used it in high winds. I was kinda worried because it isn't exactly aerodynamic but it held up well. I did make sure to properly stake and tension the guy-wires (on the fly). Those help the poles resist the wind.

    I really like the demo, really nice to see it in real time, but the rain fly is on all wrong. The CORE Logo should be to the front of the tent but good job sir.

    Great video. Do you think it can be setup with the rain fly attached already?

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  Před 3 lety

      I haven't tried that. Unfortunately it will be too cold for me to set up for the next few months.

    How wide and lengthy is your tent.

    will be returning my Coleman 6 person and getting the 6 person version of this tent - much easier setup.....and can be done with one person - that's what impressed me....so can the Coleman....but the damn thing leaked the first time it rained~! Back it goes!

      We've been happy with this tent. I was looking forward to using it this season but the camping grounds closed down this spring. I think some have opened up but it is too hot for me. I think we will do some backyard camping when the weather gets a little cooler.

    Thanks for the video. It the tent open from the bottom? Can bugs enter from any sides?

      The tent is closed. You can see a walkthrough of it here: czcams.com/video/iv7gHLW8keM/video.html

    Thanks for posting. Would this hold 5 adults and 2 children, or do you recommend going with the 12-person one for that size team? Does the roof zip closed, or is the mesh the only roof you have beneath the rain fly?

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  Před 4 lety +1

      With this and pretty much every other brand of tent, I like to divide the capacity by 2 to get a more practical capacity. I'm guessing you could stuff 7 people in this but it could get pretty crowded. I would go with the 12 person tent. This tent is highly vented. The roof under the fly is mesh and there are vents near the bottom you can close but they aren't sealed so air can easily get through. Some of the windows zip on the sides but clip on the top so air can move there too. We've actually used this tent a few times in below freezing weather. It wasn't the best tent for that but we survived. In the same regard, I wouldn't want to use a completely sealed up tent in summer.

      @@Rickmakes Thank you for this reply. We live in Florida and all that ventilation looks like what I'm looking for. The tent is for me and my 11 year old son. I want to put two cots and our gear in the backroom and zip it off and use the front room like a chillout area/eating (table and chairs). Is this possible?

    How much did this tent cost? Is it made by SwissGear?

      Kit Carson , 220 on Amazon. Not sure who makes it.

  • @thomasmorgan2346

    Is it completely water proof

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  Před 4 lety +2

      We have used it in the rain and haven't gotten wet. We have also used it in heavy winds and it held up. That being said, it does have a lot of venting (bottom, vents, screen top, etc...). I'm guessing a strong sideways wind during a rain could potentially drive some rain in. I would say that about most tents that have a lot of venting though.

    • @jonathandoelander6130
      @jonathandoelander6130 Před 2 lety

      No tent is waterproof indefinitely unless you use seam sealer on all the seams and stitching from time to time.

  • @felionrobinson698

    That rain fly is really….thin

    • @Rickmakes
      @Rickmakes  Před 2 lety +1

      Do you mean the material or the length it goes down the side of the tent? The material is similar to every other rain fly I have seen. As for length, we haven't had any issues getting wet when camping in the rain. That being said, no tent is going to 100% waterproof. If the wind is heavy enough, it could drive rain in the side but in that case, it probably isn't safe to be in a tent.

    For a tent you will not use often this seems complicated to setup… nothing never sets up like it did before. Just being realistic 😢

      You weren’t actually gone though. As soon as the dogs started barking you left a comment about barking dogs.
