Well, that was unsettling. I was expecting this to be connected to The Real. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. The body is dead; the brain is connected to the virtual world. That is essentially a fate worse than death. You cannot disconnect from this virtual world because you have no body to return to, thusly you're trapped forever.
I was expecting the Real as well maybe it's an unknown aspect of it? This needs a sequel to it.

this is a good story.... a sequel based on the tech or methods advancing would be interesting. by that, i mean, the guys running the program figure out how to run this without killing or harming the individual. or harm them but their minds are intact enough for them to recover and report what they experienced.
