I am replanted Scottie. I came to the U.S. as an orphan when I was 12 in 1958. I am like you. No matter where you are, where you are going the music stays with you. It's a part of you that never changes. I to remember this melody from The Quiet Man. I heard it before that and it has always been a deep heart felt anthem. Once a Celt. always a Celt. I was born in Durness, Scotland.
I love that beautiful little smile she gives when she bows to the audience at the end. Oh. man, that island must be overloaded with beautiful an talented women.
Strange how many people think of music differently than I. I fell in love with this song first from "The Quiet Man". Each time I hear it it brings tears to my eyes - no matter the artist. There are other pieces - and other performers - that do that for me. As far as I am concerned, each of these is as great and wonderful as the next. I don't ask of art and artists that they be the "best", only that they speak to my soul.
For all those generations of Irish people who left home to make a life for themselves in far off lands they would dream of Ireland and their homeland and families...this has passed down the to diaspora of Irish children and grandchildren....who will never forget their heritage 🇮🇪 ☘️
Beautiful voice. I listened to this and then Orla's version. Both are great. To put Orla up by criticizing Rebecca is in poor taste. Both singers have wonderful voices and Rebecca's rendition here is pretty special. I hope she becomes a permanent CW addition.
Lyrics : I've met some folks who say that I'm a dreamer, And I've no doubt there's truth in what they say, But sure a body's bound to be a dreamer, When all the things he loves are far away. And precious things are dreams unto an exile. They take him o'er the land across the sea Especially when it happens he's an exile, From that dear lovely Isle of Inisfree. And when the moonlight peeps across the rooftops, Of this great city, wondrous though it be, I scarcely feel its wonder or its laughter... I'm once again back home in Inisfree. I wander o'er green hills through dreamy valleys, And find a peace no other land would know. I hear the birds make music fit for angels, And watch the rivers laughing as they flow. And then into a humble shack I wander My dear old home and tenderly behold, The folks I love around the turf fire, gathered. On bended knees, their rosary is told. But dreams don't last Though dreams are not forgotten And soon I'm back to stern reality. But though they pave the footways here with gold dust, I still would choose my Isle of Inisfree.
This beautiful Irish Song reminds me of a great movie, The Quiet Man, starring Maureen O"Hara and John Wayne, both of whom are now deceased. This song was actually the theme song from the movie. A beautiful movie, two great actors and my most favorite movie of all time Erin go Bragh.
Angels voices sent from ???????? They did what I suggested and ramped up the eye candy for the new Celtic woman generation.. Good for all Celtic Woman. I want to meet the orchestrator. Beautiful eye candy. You now have the next gen Celtic woman. Thank you. Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Rebecca, too (oh, that beautiful little smile she gives at the end). The new girl, Tara McNeill, also sings and plays the harp and piano in addition to the fiddle. It will be interesting how her talents are used in the future.
Orla gave me an impression of a mother telling her young one about her wonderful memories about the place while Rebecca's rendition is like a daughter who shares her feelings towards Inisfree.

I've always loved Orla's version of this song but with all due respect I love this one so much more. I have the Blu-ray of this concert and Rebecca Winckworth's is the woman in this video.

The song's simplicity is it's beauty. Her voice just tops it.

Rest in Peace my darling sister Pauline. Missing you forever, until we meet again. 🙏🙏💕💕
So heart-rending.......so beautifully sung.....

So beautiful, I have never heard my most favourite song in all the world sung so beautifully.
Thank you so much!
My favourite Irish tune! Heared it for the first time many years ago in the movie "The Quiet Man" where it is performed by Maureen O'Hara.
Lyrics :
I've met some folks who say that I'm a dreamer,
And I've no doubt there's truth in what they say,
But sure a body's bound to be a dreamer,
When all the things he loves are far away.
And precious things are dreams unto an exile.
They take him o'er the land across the sea
Especially when it happens he's an exile,
From that dear lovely Isle of Inisfree.
And when the moonlight peeps across the rooftops,
Of this great city, wondrous though it be,
I scarcely feel its wonder or its laughter...
I'm once again back home in Inisfree.
I wander o'er green hills through dreamy valleys,
And find a peace no other land would know.
I hear the birds make music fit for angels,
And watch the rivers laughing as they flow.
And then into a humble shack I wander
My dear old home and tenderly behold,
The folks I love around the turf fire, gathered.
On bended knees, their rosary is told.
But dreams don't last
Though dreams are not forgotten
And soon I'm back to stern reality.
But though they pave the footways here with gold dust,
I still would choose my Isle of Inisfree.

It's disappointing to read someone criticize beautiful music. It is said that those who can, sing. Those who can't, critique!
What an absurd comment - get over yourself

I love Rebecca Winckworth! I wish she was a permanent member of Celtic Woman. They really need a fourth voice and a harpist. :)
I love Rebecca, too (oh, that beautiful little smile she gives at the end). The new girl, Tara McNeill, also sings and plays the harp and piano in addition to the fiddle. It will be interesting how her talents are used in the future.

I'm waiting for the day comes!!!
The Irish Harp is such a beautiful instrument and is more special with this lovely performance!
ALWAYS Beautiful

Rebecca you are beautiful and your voice is more than your beauty.love you.
Orla gave me an impression of a mother telling her young one about her wonderful memories about the place while Rebecca's rendition is like a daughter who shares her feelings towards Inisfree.
Absolutely amazing! A clear, beautiful voice gently accompanied by her harp playing and only a few strings!
Thank you so much!
Very good. Excellent voice,
Thank you so much!
I'm sorry to comment in Japanese.
beautiful girl and voice

she did amazing but in my mind this is always Orla's song :)
I've always loved Orla's version of this song but with all due respect I love this one so much more. I have the Blu-ray of this concert and Rebecca Winckworth's is the woman in this video.
I prefer Orla's singing, but Rebecca's performance showcases her harp playing more and as a harpist, I can appreciate her harp playing.

No one could ever replace Orla in my heart, but still, done very beautifully and sweet.
