When JTB says "I think we have about a half hour left or so." (1:08:05), the in game timer reads 1:06:58, and the run ends at 1:36:28. Dude was less than 30 seconds off being exact in his time estimation.
CarBomb yeah these guys know their time down to within a few seconds from anywhere they're at in the game. It's ridiculous right...
and the best pun of the show 25 seconds after that!
1:36:18 (.8) is where the cutscene starts for time. He was only off by 10 seconds from his guess due to the few areas he cleared quickly, putting him 27 ahead. Then in the final, being hit the few times dropped it back.

Yes, also there is the facto that everyone played PS2 here in pirates console, which RE4 was like, the standard game to come, as well as soccer and God of War 1 and 2

Just wanted to say thanks for the speed run, used all the tips and tricks you showed to beat the game on professional. Took me about 4 hours while watching the speed run.
This is so satisfying to watch. From extremely impressive run to nice chatty vibes in general. I was worried if there is anything to watch today on Netflix or Amazon and I found something much better.

i feel like an idiot whenever i watch speedruns of this game, it never occurred to me to just ignore enemies and walk right by them on casual plays back in the day...would have made life a lot easier in certain situations
Well, in some cases that will bite you later if you want to get items and such. It's only useful when you dont intend to dilly dally in an area to explore lol
It's the 'Gamer Brain' working against you, like when we automatically go out of our way for collectibles (coins, rings, you name it). Trying to wipe out the (apparent) threat is just ingrained in us, now. It also doesn't help that some arcade games had/have this as a requirement: Clear all the enemies in the room/on the screen in order to advance

With the thing they talk about at ~34:35 --that's actually true of a lot of games, not just this one. The devs will program the AI in such a way that they're a lot less likely to attack you if your camera is pointed away from them, since it's never fun to get blindsided, y'know. Good thing to keep in mind the next time you're having trouble with an enemy encounter in whatever game you're playing.
I dont know why, I've never seen this game or played it but i watched this entire run. Something about speedruns make me love watching them whether i know the game or not and it's probably just because of the mechanics and morals behind it all. I just love it.

And here I thought I was a badass at this game. I still hold that title, but will easiliy admit that you got me good with this run. I started with the GC exclusive. Got just about every other version as they were released and would play throught them like 50 times again with each version. Ha, one of the best games ever. RE4 is such a wonderful game.
