Why is this so satisfying to watch?!
I just bought this a few days ago and I love it! It picked up way more dirt from our living room area rug than any other vacuums that we've had (Usually the cheap-O Dirt Devil $50 Specials from WalMart). We also love that it seals in most if not all of the dust without it escaping back into the air. While vacuuming tile floors, it picks up everything instead of kicking stuff around. It's our very first Shark, and we're completely sold on it!
1 year later and how is it working for you? Does it vacuum the baseboards well on wood flooring? That's a requirement for me. Thanks!
Yes, it does. It's a very powerful machine. It's not very often that I buy a gadget that I'm totally in love with. If you don't like it when you buy it, I think they have a return policy of like 30 days or something. Best of luck to you!
Snagged this for $149 on Black Friday. Cleaned our house better than any vacuum Iâve ever used.
glad to hear it!
ill go behind you with my riccar prima canister with power nozzle or my sebo G1 and you would be amazed at what sharky leaves behind
These reviews are awesome and thorough. Thankyou for producing these!
Much appreciated!
On Jan 5th 2022 my mum bought this NZ850UK, she is 5ft tall and 70 with a few mobility issues, so anyway it was delivered she took out the box switched it on pushed it around for 30 seconds, switched it off and said no I dont like it, its too big and heavy for me, so she then rings me and says you can have this Shark I don't want it (benefits of being an only child), I said so send it back then and get you monay back she said no I can't be bothered (obviously has money to burn) so i'm not turning down a brand new shark, i go racing up my mums, when I get there she's packed it all back away in the box as if it were never opened, I could have cried I was so happy! So I get back home and spend the next hour I thought pissing my neighbours off at 10pm but I didn't because its the quietest vaccum I have ever used, and the amount of fine sand like material I got out of my carpet was shocking, I love it, thanks mum.
Shark in 10 years: Introducing the new shark every damn technology that exists for 12k
I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE your Channel!!!!! SO informative!! I just bought a shark vertex with the special powered pet attachment. Thanks for the recommendation!!! I'm so glad I found your channel!!! You have made this process SO much easier!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Just found this channel after my Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360 died (fell down the stairs due to clumsiness, mechanically it was fine and flawless for 3 years).
Decided to go with this model based on your review. Vacuum is just as described and your channel is a must watch for people buying vacuums. Keep up the great and very much appreciated work!!
Wow thank you!
This was so helpful! It's so difficult to sift through the information available to make a decision on what vacuum to buy. Thank you for the video!
You are so welcome!
I bought this yesterday and it works perfectly. I came home and it really sucks good. I have extremely high piled carpet in my living and dining rooms and it wasn't hard to push or pull backwards. I'm a female almost 60 and I didn't feel any resistance. Now, my 80 yr old mother MIGHT have trouble but not the majority of people. I wouldn't have even thought about that if I hadn't seen this video and a few others that claimed the resistance when vacuuming over high piled carpets. NOW, it WILL run away from you on LOW piled carpets like an area rug. I WILL say, when you lift it off of the base, that part is kinda heavy and your arm might get tired if you have to hold it for a while but that isn't an issue. I really bought this for hard surfaced floors and that roller in the front really does help it not leave ANYTHING behind and I did see a slight shine on the floor where I vacuumed. All in all don't hesitate buying this annnd you really don't smell anything after you vacuum so it really must be sealed. I just wish it had that attachment for the ceiling fans though.
My mom recently decided to splurge on one of these as well as a Crosswave. She vacuumed our living room which hadn't been vacuumed in ages, and amazingly there were zero hair tangles. Even with 2 dogs in the house. Going to test out the pet power brush after my doctors appointment in the morning
Update:
Pet powerbrush worked very well! And also if you're wondering, the Crosswave is great too.
That is awesome!
Not that I would buy a vacuum anytime soon. But your videos are really awesome. So I just remembered you as something to watch to fall asleep to and voila you just uploaded. Awesome!
You rock my friend!
Thanks to your helpful review, I bought this vacuum back in December 2022. Here to report that itâs the best vacuum Iâve ever owned! It does an amazing job!
Great to hear! Thanks for coming back and letting us know!
I got this as my first real vacuum. Prior to this, I was relying solely on an old 500 series roomba for my tiny apartment and I was sick of having to clean out the filter and hair wrap with every use. The Shark has been amazing at avoiding hair wrap, and it seems to clean well. I bought this one because it has the new duoclean rollers, and I opted for it despite the fact that it's not a powered lift away because it's a couple pounds lighter than the Vertex. I wish the smaller head attachment was powered because using only air suction makes it very loud and perhaps too rough on surfaces, but I still 100% recommend the vacuum.
Glad you are enjoying it!
I am normally a hoover person. Husband told bme to try something else so I went with this model of shark. Bought it with my kohl's card saved over a 100 bucks doing so. Have loved it ever since. It does a really good job at getting up the pet hair and dust cause I have both rugs and hardwood floors.
This is our first Shark Vacuum and we absolutely love it! It did such an amazing job! Our apartment has wood floors and industrial carpet and man! Was I in for a surprise! After using our old vacuum I used the new one we purchased today (shark vacuum) đł it was like I hadnât vacuumed at all! I definitely recommend this vacuum!!
Great to hear!
1 year later, how is it doing for you? I've got wood flooring in 98% of my house and shitty industrial flat carpet in two rooms that might as well be concrete. Does it vacuum along the baseboards too? That's a major requirement of mine. Thanks!
Thanks for the review. I bought one and used your link so sending what love I can your way.
Thank you for the thorough, well done review. Wow! Very impressive.
You're so welcome! Glad it was helpful!
I have the shark lift away and it is amazing. I have several pets and you would never know it. Best part is no clogging like cheap vacuums. Pivots like a dream.
Thanks for the detailed review and also your 2022 vacuum review where this one got high marks. How is this one to maintain? Like purchasing filters, belts, rollers etc? Are the filters, etc pretty spendy to replace? And should this vacuum last a long time with normal use?
Ok this is what I was waiting for. I loved the Rotator Lift away series and now I can get it with the duo clean system!! Right now I have their Shark APEX UpLight Lift-Away DuoClean and even at only 10lbs it feels very cumbersome to use. Turning the head on hard floors leaves scuff marks and is difficult to turn the vacuum even on carpet for some reason.
I really appreciate the video. It was the final deciding factor as I just ordered my first Shark. A Rotator Lift-Away DuoClean (LA502). Decided not to have my 12 year old Miele Salsa repaired. (Great performance but lots of issues through the years). Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm about ready to order this (tonight or tomorrow) based on your review but you mention there are better vacuums for carpet. Is there anything better for carpet in this price range? I have almost 1/2 carpet & that may increase to 2/3 in the future so I want to make sure it does an excellent job on carpet as well since I have an American Eskimo dog that sheds a lot. Also, does the front roller get wrapped up with hair easily? THANKS!
I bought this right before Christmas and got a great deal. I checked your reviews and even though you didn't have one on this vacuum the similar parts that others had i made an informed decision based on your other reviews from shark to get it. What you said i 100% agree with and my experience sweeping is so much better than my old cheaper vacuum. The complete seal is a game changer with 6 cats. I use to sneeze whenever i swept but with the shark i dont.
Nice!
You get a large number of views in your comparisons and companies know this affects their sales in a huge way. They want to sell more than the other brands and this gives them a reason to innovate. You're doing way more for the community than just making reviews. I guarantee the manufacturers watch all of your videos.
Thanks so much. I hope they are looking at the comments. People share some really good input too.
Thank you so much for this super review!
You are so welcome!
I just got a brilliant idea for the pulling bug on the vacuum.
What if they designed it with the front roller spinning counterclockwise and the back roller spinning clockwise so they both cancel each other out. They could take it a step further by adding in a feature that rotates one roller faster than the other depending on the direction of the push or pull, so itâs easier to push and pull and feels like your pulling on nothing at all.
I was gonna get this vacuum real soon anyways, but this review just justified/solidified it for me! đ
Enjoy!
Just got mine for $150 at bed bath and beyond and i love it in all honesty upgrading from an old navigator
I was wondering why my Ion cordless would stall out for a second or two and then run shortly and stall again. Iâll keep the housing of the roller clean. Thanks again!
Would like to see you test edge cleaning with these - how close to the wall from the front or the sides will it clean?
Great Review!!! Thanks!! Two thumbs up!
Much appreciated!
I'm thinking of buying this now because of your great review.
Hope you enjoy it!
I didn't see this last week on Shark's website when I ordered my corded Vertex uplight. Hmmm...I also got the Vertex powered lift away. I do my light vacuum with uplight and main cleaning day with the Powered Liftaway. I almost got the cordless but they don't have extra batteries in stock right now and I don't want to deal with delays due to dead batteries. We'll see... great review! Smiles and blessings...
Gave up my Shark rotator lift away a few years back for my Dyson cordless. I love my Dyson, but it's not made for every carpet, especially older carpets that need agitation every now and then. I just ordered this Vertex duo and will be using it along with my Dyson. Live and learn.
I'm sorry to hear that but thank you for your input.
@@VacuumWars I think you misunderstood or I wasn't clear. I loved my shark rotator and I thought I was upgrading by buying a dyson. I was wrong. I love my Dyson, but there are things the Shark Rotator did better. That's why I just recently purchased the Vertex. I'll keep the Dyson for general quick vacuuming.
Quick question. My wife and i need to buy a new vac and we were thinking of buying the shark rotator Adv the 502 model. And we would like to know if it pulls on lose carpet stran's.. The reason why we ask is because our old liftaway kept on snagging on the lose carpet stran's and made the carpet worse. Would b able to lets us know please and thx
I have all hardwoods with area rugs. Would you recommend this or the navigator?
How would you compare this and the navigator NV356E? Are they comparable? which one is better. I have area rugs and hardwood floor
I just ordered mine today. So excited to get it. Just put a few Hoovers and dirt devils into the trash.
Not seeing a date for this video but I just bought the LA500 based on another of your videos. I just put it together, read the manual and watched this video before plugging it to be sure I haven't missed anything. I'm pretty sure there's a spare dog in my area carpet. Thanks for this!
Great to hear!
Iâm trying to decided between this one and the newer version of the navigator. I have shag carpet In most of my house except upstairs has this low pile carpet that no vacuum I have had wants to pick dirt up from it, just throws it around. I also have a long haired dog, and I also have long hair. Which one do you think would be best?
Thank you so much for this review. I purchased the Rotator based on your recommendation and am loving the features. However, I am a small woman and the "self propelled" feature is causing me a ton of wrist pain that persists for days after vacuuming. This happens even when I vacuum our rugs on the "low" suction. The rest of our house is hardwood and tile. I am not sure if I am going to keep it or not. Do the other Shark vacuums in the same price bracket have that self propelled feature? We bought this to replace our nearly 14 year old Shark Navigator (the model that preceded the lift away!) and while this new one does perform better I can't get past being in pain after vacuuming. Advice?
Excellent presentation!
Thank you!
Would you recommend this one over the nv360 or the origional shark 352. I love my 352 but would like a 2nd shark.
Great review
Thank you!
I notice the quote âself propelâ with my Shark and my Bissell. The brush does tend to drag it a little bit forward. It isnât as drastic as my Kirby which of course is a self propelled vacuum, but I do still notice it.
I won't ever purchase another Shark Vacuum. The motorized rollers in the floor nozzle of the Duo models are known to break down, and Shark claims the entire bottom portion of the vacuum including the roller motor is a "wear and tear" item. They don't stand behind their products and will use any excuse to avoid honoring your warranty.
What is the cleaning path width? I just viewed your Shark Vertex review and you mentioned it had a wider cleaning path than the Apex but I do not know the cleaning path width of the Apex, Vertex, or the LA502.
How do you d
Fix the duo roller won't lock in place front roller
Great video! I'm looking for a vacuum which is great for both laminate flooring and carpets but also good for pet hair and an upholstery tool is necessary. Could you recommend any please preferably under ÂŁ200 if possible? I've looked at Vax too but I'm unsure how good it would clean hard/laminate flooring. Thank you!
I'm about 95% sure that Shark saw this video and decided to bump the price up to close the gap between this and the Vertex. When this video first came out, I went to Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon and got the ADV for $240(!). An absolute steal for this machine considering it's $320 now đ
Anyways, I really appreciate this video as I love the Rotator ADV and I know I got an absolute value buy because of this channel. So Bravo and thank you for your reviews VW!!
Thanks so much!
Actually, bed bath & beyond is at $350 now, but they do allow their 20% coupons taking it down to $280, and through March 6th, they're giving hey bed bath & beyond $50 gift credit that must be used within 30 days, effectively taking it down to $230. I just bought one yesterday after seeing this video to help whittle down the choices.
Can you use this on lvp floor or will it scratch the floor up?
How do you put on the attachments? I see 3 attachments and only 2 places to put them on.
Any plans to review Shark WS620 Wandvac 3 in 1 System? I recently bought it and am impressed by what it can do for the size, but there are a few things that bug me about it. 1. High speed setting is not a switch or a trigger but a rubber button underneath the handle which is very uncomfortable to keep depressed for long periods of time. 2. Batteries are in the handle and it gets very hot and uncomfortable if you use high speed for a few minutes.
I purchased a Shark LA502 in June, 2021. It is not 11 months later and the soft roller ( the roll on the very front) no longer rotates under power. I have a set of torx security bits on the way but I am worried the gears are toast... Is there anything I can do in the mean time?
I swear I see a vacuum and want a âvsâ and this guy has everything! I was looking at the Rotator vs Apex (at Best Buy) and like why is there a $280 difference!? But this one has the new spinning things! I just want one with the Duo since I have hard floorsâŠ. Our old shark rotator is shiny blue and white (looks like R2D2) but itâs really my wifeâs from like 7 years ago and still works (but some plastics have cracked)
I had a rotator cannister upright. bought the wheel stand for the cannister. It died in 2 years. I can't use the heavy uprights. are they going to make a cannister unit again? I have pets and just hard wood floors. don't have rugs. please advise
Thank you. Just... thank you!!!
Welcome!
Itâs a nice vacuum I love the PowerFins I still have the old rotator that I have for 5 years but I wonât complain about the AVDâs weight
I like this shark vacuum cleaner! :D
This vacuum looks like it holds way more than the vertex in the dust cup. Then at the end the Bin size for Vertex is 1qt, 0.89qt for the LA502. Is that correct?
waiting for your Shark Navigator LA322 review!!
What do you think of built-in heaters in Bissell carpet cleaners?
I just watched your video on what you use at home. Would you compare this to the speed? We have had our share of sharks and dysons over the year. We have a rotator professional, zero m uplight and a hoover linx. Not really feeling the uplight living up to the review and not sure why. The cord gets so tangled, the linx just eh. Saw your review on the pure but wow that price.
can you remover the 2nd roller? our current shark won't and is not spinning. yes, it is cleaned prior to every use.
Havent seen any vacuum videos involving auto detail any suggestions?
@Vacuum Wars - you mention you'll be doing a review on the Shark LA322 Navigator soon. Can you give us an idea of when? We were very interested in this one until you mentioned that it would be better for houses with more carpeting. Would like to see your thoughts and then make a decision.
My vacuum falls apart every time I use it because of this stupid multiple use function. What am I doing wrong?
My navigator came with the hard floor hero attachment which made it so awesome for hard floors but they don't have them anymore with most of their other vacuums, which stinks because it's my favorite thing about my shark. I don't know about the newer lift aways but the hoses on mine are horrible. They cracked within the first two months. I replaced them with different hoses that were not from shark and those hoses are doing great. The only hose from shark that I have left is coming out from the handle & it is now cracked almost all the way around. The bad part is I don't think I can get the handle apart to be able to replace it. The replacement hose from shark comes attached to a handle assembly but the hoses they use are so bad that I don't want to replace a bad hose with another equally bad hose so I don't know what I'm going to do once it completely breaks in two. Right now it's taped but that won't last forever.
See this confirms what I originally thought about the "unsealed suction" test. What has the biggest impact on that test is the size of the floor head. So the bigger the floor head the lower the number.
That's why Sharks with powerful motors will score lower in that test, they have the big head designs with 2 rollers that don't seal with the floor. I'm not sure how useful that "unsealed suction" test actually is.
It's definitely not a very useful test, a lot of vacuums are designed with floor heads that have a small channel running off either side to aide in suction against walls. A great feature to have, but obviously it would mean a lower score in this test.
I wouldn't be surprised if a plunger scored higher than most vacuums simply because it creates a perfect seal over the centre of the hole.
@@ToucanSamich I'm sure a plunger would have super high number. I think as long as a vacuum passes the crevice pick up test, this test doesn't matter as much. My point was also you have vacuums like the Vertex that have over 100" of water lift, yet have a low score on this test.
So I think the test simply measures how small the floor head is compared to the motor, in practical terms.
@@Damitsall which is the most important for cleaning capabilities?
The larger ones might be easier because they take less time, but it seems they are as good at cleaning only that they clean more area.
lots me at this vacuum from 2012 is iconic.
Would love to see an update on this review to see if it's holding up? Lots of reviews of people complaining about these vacuums not lasting very long in comparison to the price.
Is there a different between the LA 500 and LA 502?
Will the Newer Models still attach to the Caddy on my 6 year old Rotator?
I'm freakin STOKED to finally make a comment here about you helping me choose the right vaccuum, this was out maybe a year ago when I got it or perhaps a few months back but there was the vertex or apex. One was $100 more and I seriously couldn't figure out why the increase besides one just advertising more for pets? I was flustered over it but just wanted the hepa filter because I have Asthma. The Shark Rotator Lift-Away Box didn't mention it having a HEPA filter I think but looking online it did so it was a "It has what I want at least" purchase.
I have two cats and they shed a bunch and it shows up like crazy on our dark floors. I'm the weirdo who loves to see all that crap come out/off the floor. I wish the cord I didn't have to bundle back up each time but I'm pretty sure that's just a trade off for quality.
It does absolutely drive itself on carpet and it's a little annoying, didn't realize I should lower the suction for it. I also did eject the roller head to inspect it and found a hair tangle believe it but super minor. I can't really think of what else I'd want it to do better. Using it for the carpeted master bedroom is the most disgustingly cool things ever.
LMFAO OH THIS WAS BACK IN JANUARY 2021 yeah okay nevermind. Solid purchase.
That is fantastic to hear! Thank you and we are so glad to have been a help!
Is there any difference between the LA502 and the LA455?
The new Shark Performance ADV Duo Clean with Powerfins model UV850 at Costco appears to be very similar to this Navigator. Can you confirm? The attachment has a brush rather than the fins though. UV850 specs appear to be 960 watts and 8.0 amps. 13.64 pounds. You indicated the power on the rotator was 910 watts. The UV850 at Costco seems to be replacing the UV700 which was 780 watts 9.5 amps and 13.3 pounds. It had zero-m which appeared to be the old style brush roller. Not sure if the UV700 (Performance) had a place to hold attachments. Was the UV700 similar to the Navigator? Which performs better? Also, one has higher wattage, the other higher amps. Thanks!
Great vid as always ,but, are any of these suggested for commercial heavy duty use? I mean for carpet clean business with all types of pile heights and debris/hair that come with. If not , can u suggest one please?
take a look at this video I did of commercial vacuums - czcams.com/video/IMpUUkLM4Jk/video.html
I would love to see a comparison of longevity on the zero m roller (yellow fins and complete rows of stiff bristles) and the power fin roller which has the blue fins and partial rolls of softer bristles... I suspect the latter will not hold up as well over time and if I'm understanding things, there is no way to replace only the blue fin roller when it wear out. I've had a vertex stick vac for only about a month and noticed one of the fins is already beginning to tear. It's not going to affect function yet but it gives me concerns about durability. I think I'd rather cut hair off a traditional roller and have the deeper reaching, longer lasting bristles vs. something that might reduce hair wrap but also reduces lifespan.
I am seriously old - I look forward to new videos by a youtuber talking about vaccums.
Right there with you.
Does the LA502 have a large bin than the AZ2002
Just got this about 3 weeks ago! I love it, I have a question. Am I supposed to change filters?
You can clean them with running water and let them dry for 24 hours. Make sure that the filters are washable first.
You should wash the sponge filters every 2 months and change the Hepa filter once a year. Of course this varies by how much and how often you vacuum.
I think itâs cool to see a vacuum âwalkâ. Lol. My Royal does that.
My Kirby Legend 2 Does that when it's set all the way down
Is the UV850 (Costco model) similar to this vacuum? Been researching and trying to figure out how they differ. Thank you!
I believe the rotating head attachment is differently shaped and it comes in a solid blue color.
Could you please test the Invictus x9 next?
So the Navigators are better for carpets
CZcams algorithm: youâre now into vacuums and youâre gonna like it!
Me: Ok
I recently thought the UV850 from Costco, which seems to be the same as the LA502. Iâve noticed that while the vacuum performs well in normal mode, the suction from the hose in lift-away mode is extremely weak, almost unusable even in the high-suction mode. The rotating hose attachment either doesnât spin or barely moves at all and is useless. Did I get a dud and need to return it, or should I just upgrade to the Vertex/Apex? Thank you.
Did you switch the vacuum to hard floor mode with the rotating brush attachment? That mode gives you max hose suction.
Just ordered the vertex. Hope it holds up a good while. My other shark the duo clean has done decent but the small suction hose in the head piece has split and cracked which sucks
I hope you enjoy it!
