I WOULD Fly On WestJet's New UltraBasic Fares! People Think I'm CRAZY! June 2024

WestJet & Air Canada have recently announced some big changes and one of them is very controversial but I think it’s a good thing!
Air Canada is now offering complimentary alcoholic beverages on domestic and trans-border flights (Canada-USA), including beer, wine and spirits up to $5. You’ll also enjoy premium snacks!
WestJet has just announced a new discounted fare class called UltraBasic. These fares are available for domestic and trans-border (Canada-USA) flights and are a lot lower than regular Economy fares but also have some limitations:
- No carry-on bags allowed - only a Personal item which must be stowed under the seat in front of you. Bags can be checked for a fee that is $10 higher than you would pay on a regular Economy fare.
- No WestJet Rewards earn
- No complimentary seat selection for free at checkin time. Seats will be assigned and will be at the back of the plane and likely will be a middle seat. People booked on the same reservation may or may not be seated together. Seat selection may still be purchased for an extra fee.
- UltraBasic guests will be the last to board the plane.

Hi Marilyn! Yes you pay it online and it must be paid before you leave Cancun. It’s directly tied to your passport, so if you don’t pay it, they will know next time you try to enter.
