"We spoiled Kate Winthrop's backside" - PBG 2023
Nice video! Like to see these recaps to keep people up-to-date with preview season. Though I do have two quick notes:
At 17:44, your definition of Elusive is incorrect. It is pretty close, but it critically when you *attack* it, or it *attacks* you. Dealing damage that isn't an attack (IE Beat Cop) actually bypasses Elusive, and notably the Weeping Yurei will run away after its Forced effect triggers.
Secondly, as someone who previewed two of the cards in this video (Ancestral Token and Fine Tuning), I would really love it if you could reference the other content creators who previewed these cards. If you don't want to interrupt your conversation, just flash the channel name on the screen or something. It is a small thing, but I think it helps the community a lot to share word about these other channels.
Looking forward to seeing more from you about Hemlock Vale, and I agree, super excited to see what Hank's deckbuilding might be.
Hey, thanks for commenting! We have a link to FantasyFlight's spoiler roundup in the description to point people to the hub of all content creators who spoiled.
It's not me trying to be malicious or anything, but I view spoilers differently when they've been spoiled. As soon as they're out there, they no longer belong to that content creator and instead belong to the community. I don't expect to be credited for our spoiler cards so it seems strange to me to credit other people for theirs.
@@PlayingBoardGames Ah, I was looking for links to the content creators in the description but missed the FFG link, that's my bad.
And that makes sense. It is not a way I would do it (I'm happy to link your videos whenever I do my recap), but that is a view that makes sense to me and I can respect that.
Plus with FFG doing a calendar now, hopefully people can find it as well.
Thank you for the reply!
The tool guy has so many possible hand slots:
2 base + 2 hidden pockets + 2 tinkers +2 bandolier(2) =8 possible hand slots.
The key of Solomon could be nice in carolyn/vincent
Regarding fine tuning, with the current card pool it seems fine. The most notable cards are dream enhancing serum, strange solution, alchemical kit, empirical hypothesis, and pocket multi tool.
What about a non curse bless build key of solomon + priest of two faiths on Dexter Drake? Wouldnt that make him 3 resources a turn?
"Book of Living Myths" - Does "resolving" a bless or curse token include drawing another token? IE, does this card mean "become a +/-2 token", or "start with +/-2"?
Does anybody know whether this is good expansion as first one after Core set or is difficulty too high for somebody new to game ? Thanks
So, we know very little about the campaign for now, if that's what you're asking about.
As for the player cards... it is a bit of a mixed bag, I'd lean to avoiding this one as your first expansion because of Bless and Cursed. Those additional tokens tend to complicate things quite a bit and reward specifically building around taking advantage of them, which may be a bit much for a newer player.
That being said, most of the new investigators don't interact with those tokens at all, and most of them seem fairly straightforward? Wilson is all about Tools, Kate is all about Science and Tools, Alessandra is all about Parley, and Hank... we don't know yet.
So it wouldn't be my recommendation, but you could do worse.
Thank you for your summary. I guess that Dunwich legacy or Edge of Earth might be better option then@@veronicavanvoorst
Key of Solomon plus well prepared…
My understanding is that when you take an action without paying its 'arrow' cost, you only save one action. 😢
No! Ignoring action cost ignore all actions it would have costed you to activate it! ;)
@nicmichaud7868, the designers have ruled it as reducing the action cost by 1 only
Unless we're talking about Ad Hoc which ignores everything
@@danielscarpace yeah I was talking about Ad Hoc but I see now there could be confusion with hand-eye coordination!
Prismatic Spectacles gets you a clue even if you fail? 1 more than 0 is 1.
It certainly is odd wording for it, but I personally read the intention of the card as you only get the clue if you pass.
The best part of Fine Tuning, besides the Milan Expanded Universe, is exhausting a card, then exhausting Fine Tuning to ready the initial card so you can exhaust it again. I mean, sure you could just exhaust Fine Tuning, but if you're not rotating cards back and forth what are you even doing?
So that's what DJs get their skills from
Fake credentials + fine clothes could be fun in early scenarios of a campaign
I don't see the added benefit, because its once a turn and you need an enemy. Why would I use it instead of just sticking to Lockpicks?
Having played like 30+ test scenarios with Alessandra, having to have too many cards that need enemies is not a good idea IMO.
@@Bsli81 that’s true, I forgot that you need an enemy in order to use the parley action. I could see it being clutch in an ideal case (aloof enemy) but it’s too specific for it to be broken
@@Aflacist I so want these parleys to work for Alessandra (i just love her concept), but the lack of control, you have over when you can use a card is bad. I tried to use Kicking the hornets nest but not better. I just found that she barely needs more parleys then her 3 (which are bonkers if you have fine clothes out), you are better off with preparing to scenarios when you do not have enemies. Its sad, but I still hope there will be some more fun/good cards for her coming up.
@@Aflacist Also the sad thing is that the Blackmail file vs Disguise comparison is even worse :(
@@Bsli81 i just read the two cards and I agree, yes that is very silly…
Sledgehammer is a tool 😎
Finally! Will Yorick can hold Sledgehammer and Newspaper!

I hate that they keep releasing 4 book 4 brain mystics
Id even prefer a 2 brain 5 book one for a change, just only use divination as a spell sort of thing.
Ok, I’ll ask…two of you in masks, one not? Is Justin not inducted into the Cult?
Thanks for another interesting video.
Yeah, I didn't pay my union dues and got kicked out of the cult.
@@PlayingBoardGames I wouldn't want to be part of the cult either.

Hate to be "that guy", but fake credentials has a typo for succeed...
