  • Let me tell you all about the Wilson Richards deck I took on my first playthrough of The Feast of Hemlock Vale! Sharing thoughts about how I built the deck at level 0, and where it ended up at the end of the campaign, as well as how it actually played through real scenarios.

    Some good insights here. Based on what you show here I'm lead to believe that Wison will probably be capable true solo'ing pretty consistently.

    I'm more of a fan of Backpack than I probabl should be, but all/most tools are items =D.
    Edit: we just need something to give a second body slot. Maybe a mannequin.

      I've always thought an alternative card to Backpack called Overnight Bag or Bug Out Bag would be nice, using the accessory slot, which you fill with six blind, face down cards off the top of your deck then draw from the top of those six cards (as an action) to immediately play any item or supply card drawn (paying its costs) and discarding all other non item, non supply cards and those you can't meet the resource cost for. This would be a neat and consistent parallel to Backpack, with its equivalent 6 card mechanism and has a strong inbuilt narrative (I frantically stuffed as much crap as I could into this bag at the last minute, and I don't remember exactly what) with scope for an interesting "keep drawing until you hit a playable card" upgrade, which would lend dynamism and perhaps tempt you away from playing accessory slot boosting permanents to accommodate it. Obviously most thematically appropriate and strongest as a Survivor card, where discards are often favourable and where dilemmas should make for even more deckbuilding fun.

    Sounds like card draw was a major issue in this build. I'll be running Wilson on our first Hemlock outing, trying Tetsuo, Backpack and Chemistry Set for draw and resource augmentation, leveraging Matchbox to help beat the fail by two discard resolution on Chemistry Set, adding Surgical Kit later for even more draw juice. I'm also planning to use Hatchets on a Tool Belt and Mk1 Hand Grenades, because they're slotless and free up more tool use potential as well as comboing superbly with Cleaning Kit. The rest is pretty much Magnifying Glass, Hawkeye Folding Camera, Dissection Tools, Microscope, Tinker and Wolf Mask along with a handful of level zero one handed weapons. Ever Vigilant has got to make it in at some stage too though, as well as Fine Tuning to make the most of Chemistry Set and Microscope, and maybe Safeguard to boost Microscope further.

      Chemistry set sounds like a fun idea! We only have one collection so that was in Kate's deck. And to be clear, the card draw problem was only really for seeing Ad Hoc, otherwise I always was able to fight or get clues. Just wish I could do more! The STTP and stand together did help quite a bit though.

      @@Quick_Learner That whole Seeker succeed by suite looks very powerful. I think if we were playing Kate she'd probably get it too, but we've got the Countess playing pseudo-Seeker on this run.

    Appreciate this summary. Do you think that perhaps FHV is perhaps not the best campaign to play Wilson Richards--seems weird, I know--due to certain campaign mechanics/encounter card effects?

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I don't think so. There were a few tough things towards the end of the campaign but they would hurt every investigator, IMO (some others harder than me, though)

  • @hotung1027
    @hotung1027 Před 4 měsíci

    I was thinking about the new card hatchet, with ad Hoc, to deal damage and leave the enemy alive with 1 damage. It would leave the hatchet card attached to the enemy, and then use another card to deal damage or perform a basic fight action to recurring the hatchet back control.
    With well-maintained, fast action attached to a hatchet, after it discards it would back both hatchet to hand, this is the best I could think of to recurring tool to hand. As lacking another mechanism to consistently recover cards(other then consumable card, like push to the limit, resourceful, salavage).
    TBD, I think cleaning kit(level 3) should available in ArkhamDB now, since the database is just updated recently.

    Hello, are you sure you can discard gravediggers shovel from hand to discover the clue? I have been playing it as discard from play. Great video, thanks for uploading.

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 4 měsíci +4

      You can't discard it from hand for the clue normally, but if you're using Ad Hoc or Pushed to the Limit, you ignore all costs, which includes discarding it from play. (I probably didn't make that clear in the video)

    i havent had a chance play it yet but for my Wilson Richards deck i went more in on clue getting. fingerprint kit gives you a boost of +1 so i think it'll perform better than thieves kit. also running a hawkeye folding camera to boost his base skill. for card draw im running backpacks and tetsuo mori. ill have to run it to see how it performs but im optimistic.

    • @Quick_Learner
      @Quick_Learner  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Tetsuo would have been a great addition to my deck -- I really liked Alice, though, but I certainly could have cut something else? (What, I'm not sure -- the great Arkham conundrum is always about making room for good cards!)

    • @ahmedlateef8669
      @ahmedlateef8669 Před 4 měsíci +3

      @@Quick_Learner I was literally just staring at the cards deliberating on what to cut. he has a pretty massive card pool so it's very exciting to deck build for Wilson. but that just makes all the card choices that much harder.
