    What I really find interesting about Bruno's room is that, apparently according to the directors, the stairs grew as his relationship with his family got worse. There were less stairs when he was younger. I find that very poetic. They both kept people from coming to get visions, but also stopped his family from coming to help him, whenever he was isolating himself.

      Isaac Carlson pointed out that Bruno's room used to be next to his sisters'. But the doors to the rooms can change location and, as Bruno became estranged from the rest of the Madrigals, his door was relocated to another floor. Bruno's Tower was the only room on that floor, a poetic way of showing Bruno's loneliness and isolation.

    I think that along with all the mirrors in Camilo's room, there is one mirror that always showed his true self. That way, no matter how much he shapeshifted into other people, he would never lose track of his true self.

    Theory that just occurred to me about Pepa's room (and probably Julieta's): What if her room used to be more magical and it's normalized a bit since Felix moved in? Like how the rooms adapt to each character's powers, it'd also adapt to his lack of powers? It'd be kinda nice if the house welcomed and adapted itself to the newcomers. Like, the powered family members that live in each room can deal with its extreme conditions because their powers help them control the room, but when a non-powered moves in, they'd be helpless. We already see this with Maribel's difficulty in Bruno's room; imagine if someday someone moved in with Antonio - how would they deal with all the animals they can't communicate with?; or Pepa's room, which could've been all extreme weather conditions - she could redirect it as she pleased, but not Felix; and etc for the other rooms. So, maybe that's why her room just looks more like a normal room now. Julieta's might be something like that too, to account for Agustin. Plus - Abuela, who has no powers, also has a simpler room. And Mirabel's original, simple room, which, yeah, wasn't designed or magically adapted for her, but it does make you think of whatever her new room in the new house is. Probably not that huge or complicated (she probably also wouldn't spend much time in it, but in the rest of the house, with her family, but I digress).

    • @marksebree5218
      @marksebree5218 Před 2 lety +46

      For that, I direct you to Antonio's room. The first few feet of his room were fairly normal, and gradually morphed into the jungle. Isabella's room does not do that because she does not need nearly the open space that Antonio does for the jungle for the habitat of the animals. It is reasonable to think that Pepe would have a fairly open space for her weather control, but also a "normal" space for entertaining and relaxing. Because Mirabel was able to bump her through the wall, it is not unreasonable to assume that she was on the adjoining wall near the door to her room.

    I'd like to think that Casita made a little extra room for Agustín and Félix in their wives rooms when they got married. Agustín even points out he knows how it feels to not be special make it seem like he doesn't feel like apart of the family. They even end up on the front door which is beautiful because before Abuela clearly only saw them as a means to produce the next generation. The Casita is telling them that they are an equal part of the family and no longer just the outsiders that just married in.

    • @jasonhenry3534

      If Casita didn't adjust the rooms to make sure that spouses were accommodated, I think producing children would be more difficult. Imagine adding a husband and a pregnant belly into a twin bed. The beds must be adapted for the growing size of the Madrigal family. And don't forget bassinets and places to breastfeed.

    I believe Camilos room, just like him, would transform and shift. I think this would help him learn to shapeshift and react faster depending on the situation. The layout of the room would change, maybe there are obstacles, his room would have him become more adaptable to sudden changes and become what is needed in the moment. In the movie he is constantly adapting to become what is needed in the moment (comic relief, emotional support for his mom, Jose, etc). I thought of this while watching the scene where Casita is falling and Camilo is able to transform to different sized people to avoid getting hit by rubble. Reaction time like that needs to be practiced and I believe his room is where he practices. I think that there would be mirrors but in the form of a maze maybe. I could be wrong, just a thought.

      @@GreenMeansGOF : I thought something similar. The Casita/magic was "looking" for someone suitable to be the next keeper of the magic with the second generation, and when Mirabel was 5, not only did she have the right elements of the right personality to be the next keeper, it was unlikely that there would be another child born, and who would be old enough to handle the responsibility of keeping the magic before Abuela died. Keep in mind that Abuela was about 65 when Mirabel had her ceremony, and is now about 75. Even with Julietta's cooking to keep her healthy, she is not likely to last long enough for the next generation to be grown, i.e. another 20 - 25 years.

      @MercuryA2000 Před 2 lety +3

      @@marksebree5218 Personally, my headcanon is Mirabel kinda just got unlucky. I think the magic was already waning at that point, and since Mirabel is only a few months younger than Camillo, the miracle didn't have enough time to build up the magic to give her a gift. Antonio is years younger, so there was a lot more time for it to prepare for him, but even then it was barely enough.
      At the end however, Mirabel pretty much earns the miracle again. Between everything she'd done during the movie and during the repairs after, plus the love and care involved in the family giving her the doorknob as the final piece of the home, Mirabel and the madrigal's bond was strong enough to bring it back, and as the central focus of all of that, Mirabel became the new keeper.

    It's worth saying that right behind the doors there's a relatively normal room
    We can see this at Bruno and Antonio's room
    Normal floor and furniture and bed.
    And there's no "back wall". It just opens up to the magical part of the room.
    I think Isabella had it too, but maybe used her power to just grow the flowers and make it as one.
    So I'd believe the Pepa is sitting in her normal part of the room. The one she's living in with her husband.

    @chubby_deity3143 Před 2 lety +6

    Just some random ideas that pop into my head while watching the vid...
    Bruno's room is based off of a natural occurring erosion. One could say that the sand that erodes are a witness to time passing. It's a nice representation of how sand can see all and Bruno is just looking skipping ahead.
    Luisa's room could have that secret room, it's just that house provides her with it, it doesn't mean that she "allows" herself to use it. After the movie, after her self realization. she might finally go into that room.
    I think the mirror idea is great for Camilo, but just to add a bit more. Those "House of Mirror" mirrors in carnivals. the ones that distort and there might be one in his room that will ALWAYS show his true form, regardless of what he turns into.
    If Pedeo is Casita, then it could mean the entire house is "his" room, wanting to protect his family and provide them with what they need. So it's not that Pedro as Casita is giving the family powers, but he is just another recipient of the "Gift".

    4:00 I think the reason he has so many stairs is because he has to learn patience with his gift because his visions can be frustratingly confusing sometimes. It could also be because he needs to put a lot of consideration into performing his gift, because it may negatively affect people's views of their life(and of Bruno). It may be dangerous at times to see your future(just imagine if you knew the time and date of your death. How would you feel?)

    Hi Chad the plant!
    Love your videos as usual! I'd love to see the other rooms in a possible sequel or series, that would be awesome.
    Regarding Bruno's room though, it was my impression that the reason why there were so many stairs was to represent how distant he had grown from the family. The more and more secluded and ostracized he became, the more stairs were added to his room, until it finally culminated in that ridiculously long stairwell, plus a bridge. Also, it may have been a way to help with ensuring whoever made it to his Vision Room had a really important vision to request - basically, preventing him from getting pestered with really small and 'pointless' vision requests all the time, as having visions is obviously very stressful for him.
    Oooor it was Casita preparing him for all the parkour he'd have to do to transverse the inside of the house with all its cracks and holes.

It would explain how he was super chill during his verse and how the rats were basically obeying him (they might have been elements in the room that Camillo controlled like puppets). Also when Mirabel fell through the ground Camillo was just there at the bottom floor ready to catch her. If that didn't prove that it was his room and he was controlling it I don't know what will. It would have niches for all her crafting supplies, and the rest of the walls could display her best work (which of course would all be family-related). Once the Casita regained its sentience, it might have a glowing door, like Abuela's, but it might just stay normal, but cozy, and exactly what Mirabel needs. I always assumed that Bruno's room had so many stairs as a way of discouraging him from using his gift every single little time someone came to him with a request for a big vision, especially if the person asking had to go up with him. This way, people were only asking or he was only using the gift for very important purposes.
    I also got the feeling that any time Bruno said _anything_ then people just assumed he was telling them a future prediction. For instance, if he said "Your fish looks like he is about to die," or "If you keep eating all those sweets you are going to grow a gut," or "Pepa, you are stressing out and that is going to bring on the rain."
