    Just a quick tip. Use the spark plug electric lead to remove the plug once loosened with socket. Not many people would have your wire spreading gizmo in the garage.

    Thanks for the vid - good call on the swivel socket. The auto parts store has 5/8" deep swivel sockets (magnetized)!

    I miss the days when a man could just pop a plug wire off take out the old plug and put a new one back in and snap the wire back on. Modern is good but simple sure was easier. Glad to see a video from you. Stay warm and Stay safe

      Tankerman I hear ya. I think things are getting better. I think dialing in a car from the mid 80s to mid 90s is the worst as the electronics are complex enough to get in the way but not smart enough to make anything easy. The more modern cars seem to be a bit easier to tune to me. In the same light the DRZ is pretty straight forward to rejet, but it takes me at least an hour and that's if I guess right the first time. The WR re-jets itself for altitude and for tuning I can adjust with the aftermarket programmer on the trail in seconds, but if something breaks I may never figure it out.

    Nice! I still have the spark plug swivel I used for the YZ426F back in the day. Changed plugs a lot on that thing lol. Ran racing fuel since it was jetted for it and it smelled soooooo gooooooood. I miss it!

    Man I can't believe how long this video has been up and no one mentioned to use the plug wrench that comes in the toolkit of the drz400, it's a tough fit, but you don't have to disassemble 1/2 the bike to change the plug.

  • @I_Am_Michael
    @I_Am_Michael Před 9 lety +9

    Something else. consider using a rubber vacuum hose attached to the top of the plug.. this way you can ease it down slowly and then by turning the hose you can start threading it. less chance of damaging plug.

    The first time i changed my spark plug i felt like a champ but then i was told to change the oil, the sprocket's, the tires ect. =/ and now i am not so afraid to take the DRZ apart, I guess that's a good thing for a girl.

    Subscribed! Planning on getting a WR250 come spring. Enjoy your videos. Do you ever ride in Summit County? I lived in Breckenridge for a ski season back in the early 90's. Always thought someday of going back and running Boreas Pass on a bike. Might have to do that with the WR someday. At 6'4", 175 lbs the WR should fit me like a glove. Here in MN at close to sea level, power should be plenty good. Being partial to Yamaha (having owned a 78' DT 125 and 81' IT 175) it does't hurt that its best looking dual sport out there either. Keep up the good work!

      @HermitDaVlog  Před 9 lety

      8northernlites I've ridden Red and White in Vail the last couple year, but Summit County didn't melt off until later in the Summer last year. Looks like there's a lot of pack this year too. I think for your size and weight the WR250R is a real good choice. Those bikes seem to like tall thin people.

    @Thatdualsportguy Před 9 lety +1

    Mine is losing it's power and when I ride it hard it's a little laggy like it's having trouble with the fuel....I'm assuming it's the spark plug but I've been kinda scared to take it apart..I don't know Why Suzuki decided to put it under the gas tank but Honda and Yamaha (not sure about Kawasaki) have them on the side of the cylinder

    • @HermitDaVlog
      @HermitDaVlog  Před 9 lety

      Thatdualsportguy Really? My WR450F had it on top. I haven't looked at the WR250R yet. If you haven't already make sure check the easy stuff, like clean air filter, and gas cap is venting. But don't be afraid of that plug, it's easy 'nough.
