On 8 December 2019, the outstanding Japanese master of Shotokan style karate, Hirokazu Kanazawa, passed away at the age of 88. He held a place of honour in the history of the world's martial arts. Kanazawa was the founder and chief mentor of the International Shotokan Karate-Do Federation. A 10th Dan in Shotokan Karate, he actively shared his knowledge and experience throughout the world, remaining true to the principles and spirit of Karate. Master Kanazawa continued to train and improve in karate until the last days of his life.
