I remember wizard listing one of spawn's powers as: being able to be written by the best writers in the industry and still suck

Lee and Liefeld helped ink that huge double page spread with all the bodies. Todd mentions it in interviews during that time.

9:41 that second panel on the left page is so effective!!! Surprised you guys didn't mention that full page ad for Olyoptics coloring studio. 13:35 "The better you draw, the better we color!" That's Oliff's studio that you guys mentioned, right? There was a ton of people listed on the interior cover for it. They were definitely doing some experimentation on this issue.

Not to long after this I could no longer afford my comic habit, so I fell off pretty hardcore. The last monthly books I got were Spawn around this time. I ended up trading Spawn 1-15 for two huge European H.R. Giger books. I got #1 back signed luckily but, I kinda regret the trade. (My Giger books got stolen).
Thanks for the walk down memory lane...

Love the channel guys, keep it up. This is the era of comics that was exciting as a kid and eventually lead me to stop buying books. Great to know what happend behind the scenes.

This whole series of Spawn comics written by extremely famous writers is just so educational... The idea of "let's just hire someone famous to fix it for us" is always pervading the comics industry (and the pop fiction industry as a whole) and it just doesn't work, man. It's like those super-groups in rock and roll: you can't hire the world's best drummer and the best singer and the most famous guitarist and turn that into a great band that will sell millions of albums. It just doesn't work like that.

That Olyoptics ad.. I remember mailing them asking for cool stuff and they sent me a 2 pages (8x10) that were colored by hand. It was either watercolor or Prismacolor marker. Not sure what comic they were from.

Really liked the guest writer piece. I ate that stuff with a spoon. Never had much to do with Spawn really otherwise, Savage Dragon was more my jam. Your look at this issue has me wanting to dig into my copies of those issues. The Alan Moore issue is great stuff. Thanks guys.

I pulled my Darrow centerfold out years ago. Lost the issue, but found the centerfold and had Jeff sign it at Boston Comicon in 2016.

I was a huge Miller fan by the time this issue came out. And was so disappointed in it and the Image Spawn/Batman crossover. Made me stop reading Miller's stuff for a few years.
