Ok, as a musician allow me to attempt to explain how extraordinarily special Sade is. The chord progressions, though lovely, are relatively simple -- Major 7ths, Minor 7ths, an add 9 here or there. What makes Sade special is how her vocals navigate those chords with such apparent ease. Sade is a naturally-gifted Jazz musician.
True, her range is somewhat limited -- meaning she seldom (depending on the key) soars to the higher register, as do Jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald or Diana Washington. But she doesn't have to. Sade's sultry tone, emotive phrasing, and dynamics -- as well as the subtle, mesmerizing swivel in her hips -- say it all.
In fact, if girl were endowed with a greater vocal gift I'd melt into a pool and evaporate.
And, I must say, as sexy, sultry, and dripping with pure sensuality as a dame could possibly hope to be. (And Sade definitely is a a dame in the most respectful definition of the term.) Sade is a love goddess.

I'm not a musician so I don't know the technical things you mentioned. Thank you for that. I must have musician ears because ever since I heard her voice and her style of singing in mid 80s, I just knew she was doing something special. Her voice is like pure harmony, with ease, effortlessly in tuned with the band, just magical and it still captivates me some 35-40 years later.
