If you want a cheap reflector for your lamp..Get a spoon from the stackable boy scout mess kit and cut and bend it to hang it on the edge of the light....The military spoon from a mess kit works great too.
I was inspired by these to make a beer can oil lantern, almost complete now :-) But money no worries I'd have a load of these and a pan full of wax for refills 👍
There is also a collapsible two-part top for the lantern that is great for when you are hanging it - it reflects down any of the tight that would otherwise be "wasted" up. Packs flat and adds virtually no weight.
Also can be used for a windscreen for a stove in a pinch. Have had UCO lanterns for over 35 years. Wish I still had the oil lamp candle they used to sell. I tell people the same thing about a candle. Can keep them from freezing in a blizzard. That reflector that clips to the back is nice too. I like the cocoon for 1 day trips. I go up to the fleece pouch to carry extra candles if going for any longer. They also make molds now to make diy candles, which I make beeswax and they burn much longer then the standard. That is the only drawback, them candles are pricey. I did make my own oil candle but it sooted everywhere.
@@OdinswolfSurvival They quit making them as some overheated and caused a fire. I have one that's made from steel, but the smell it gives off is not good.

Shorten the exposed wick, it might help with the sooting

There's an oil lamp that fits into the UCO on amazon occasionally... It's some Chinese made lamp that's not branded

I've never noticed a smell from it but your nose could be better than mine or you might have sensitivities to it. I know people that do
