I prefer something that starts automatically, a fact that can be overlooked.
if you install original dashcam in your car, it has radar sensor , any movement it detects, it automatically record it, rain, bird flow, anything that move around your car , trigger LED light and starts recording
@@bilimogen1004 I agree with previous comment. Does this mean that I really don't need to switch it on upon starting my car? Would it automatically record in case of collision?
Strictly speaking it is all too easy for anyone to overlook what you prefer.
It Auto-starts when you switch on the vehicle. You have to activate the Automatic Loop Recording from Dashcam settings.
@@ajitbangal5812 hi. Where is such option? I don’t have on my dash cam
Great Feature, All Vehicles should have this available. I had this on my other cars but not built in like this, I had to purchase a camera and mount it to the windshield and route the wires for power. I purchased this feature as soon as I purchased my 2024 Mercedes GLC 300.
Very interesting !
Great info
Had no idea about this !
Tell your customers brother! Wicked
I have a 2022 glc 300, do you know if it has it built in all the models or does it have to come from the manufacturer?
Hi Goks Car Lounge, It was clearly explained, I would like to know if it also work on the A180 class with MBUX thanks man.
probably a very good idea, just like watching your vids!
I appreciate that!
Nice video, I had Mercedes Dashcam in my V class, front and rear window , in the Mercedes Dashcam app , we could also see the video from back camera, just wondering if you could also record it rear site as well.
Activated mine today. Not that bad and it's instant. I don't have to wait before it starts recording but of course I will always have to manually start recording but stops automatically when engine is off
Is this a subscription dashcam or included in the GLE Prem Plus? Thanks
Hi. Tks for your informative videos. I have a brand new GLC 300de, with the same MBUX as yours, but I am unable to rename the favourites adresses in the navigation panel (I've tried hard but ....). Tks for your attention. Luís (BEL)
Does this still allow other USB ports to be used IE for Apple CarPlay? Earlier implementations took over all the USB ports making them unusable.
What about the EQC 400? Does it have this dash cam option?
Is this function available in the 2022 Gle 350 standard?
Does it have parking mode ?
Does it record when parking ?
24' GLE has all the hardware for the dash cam but I haven't paid MB the money to activate it so will your way work?
Great video. I feel that dash cams should be mandatory for insurance and safety reasons. Thanks again.
Agreed! more so than a black box!
so without plugging in an sd reader the dash cam app won't show up on the display? because I can't find the dashcam app anywhere
Great Video! Has anyone information about activating this feature for GLC in Germany? Can’t find it 😢
I have a c300 2020 in Australia will this work?
Great video! Is it possible to have the dash cam recording while using the navigation or listening to music? Or you are locked to the dash cam screen if you want to record?
Thank you! :) yes once you hit record you’re free to leave the menu to operate different things :)
Hi great review, so are we saying we do not need to pay the £200 and just follow your online video. Cheers
I hope all is well! Thanks for the great videos! I tried to do this with my EQE SUV 350, but when I plugged the adaptor into the port, it said “USB HUB NOT SUPPORTED.” Any ideas on what’s going on?
And does the SD have to be formatted a special type?
I used a USB C Sandisk plugged directly into the slot in the center console in my E Class. No adapter needed as shown on this video. It will take care of formatting. I set it to the auto start option which starts it up when you start the car usually with a short delay.
I have a c300e W206 and my question is, does the dashcam also capture the rear camera image or does it only use the front camera? My other question is, what is the quality of the cameras? Mercedes doesn't sell it cheap in the store, and if it's only FHD resolution, they charge the price of a 4k camera.
I have a 2019 350 s class will my car have it
Thanks for the video! Is this feature available for all 2023 GLCs or only to the ones equipped with a 360 camera?
Thanks Raul! :) in the UK specification it needs to be Premium or higher to have it 👍🏼
only in uk. i ask. dealer about this. i also have 2022 glc300.. they say its available to purchase.. tru the app... it cost $200. here in usa
How do I connect the Dashcam app to the WiFi ?
Will this work on 2019 c class
Does the EQB have this feature
Hello great show love watching your videos. I oven EQE 300 pure electric 2023 Does my car come with dash cam built-in? And can I record with the sd reader?,🤗🙂
Tesekurler :) check your spec with your dealer they will be able to tell you 👍🏼 thanks!
Excellent video, prompted by it I bought a card reader and SD card. Unfortunately the reader isn’t comparable with the car (or that’s what the supplier of the card is suggesting) as it works on my laptop. Can you please recommend one, which did you use?
Hey bud, one I used was the Apple SD card reader 👍🏼
Just to add, as an alternative, you don't need an SD card, I bought a Sandisk 256gb USB C flash drive from Amazon, formatted it as exFAT, plugged it in and it simply works, the flash drives are tiny too.
I have the same problem, can you tell how finally it gets resolved for you? Thanks
Can anyone suggest which reader I should be using please, thanks again
@@GoksCarLounge can you advise please, thank you
Just wanted to mention, this feature is not available on the 2023 GLC 300 in Australia. I have just purchased a full specked GLC 300 mild hybrid, and the dash cam option does not appear at all.
Even my GLC 2023 doesn't have the dashcam app available. What should I do? Do I need to activate something?
How is the video quality at night?
Would be good if this worked, have tried both usb c mem stick and card reader, neither work, will be contacting MB to have it sorted
2023 Model?
wow😲😯
I picked up a new c class with dash cam today. It does prompt for a flash drive. Does it have to be an SR card and adapter or can it be a usb c flash drive?
That should work… in theory. However I’ve not tried myself.
@@GoksCarLounge tried it today. Works great.
I got the c class , Which reader I should use ? It’s not working for me atm , any help will be appreciated
@@Rusho5555 I bought a type c USB stick and plugged it in directly, no problems, worked first time.
Indeed it is a pity we have to click each time. Imagine you have an accident and you did not enable the cam :(((((
Very good point! If you have a card inserted maybe it should auto record…
Can you record to any usb device or only to SD card?
Technically USB also works, but they don’t have the temperature resistance as SD cards. So SD cards are recommended over flash drives in cars.
How not to pay for the cam thats allready in it.
Why not just save on you phone connected using bluetooth ?
Great video & content keep up the great work. I do have several questions which you might be able to help me with. What does the recording look like at night? Does it have night vision? Are you able to upload some night recording content to see what it looks like. Also does it utilise the reversing camera to record rear video footage? I’m weighing up my options either spend £200 and get the built in dashcam activated or get a proper front and rear dashcam with night vision. Many thanks.
Hey! Thanks for the great feedback… that’s a great question and something I should have included. Sadly I didn’t and unfortunately I don’t know re the night driving. It might be worth the investment to get both cameras which should auto record too, as with the GLC you need to record manually with every trip… for the sake of £200… hope that’s helped
I Agree with mandatory dash cams in all vehicles. I am confident it would reduce Insurance premiums, eliminate most of the fraudulent claims, reduce fatal accidents and personal injury. How about a scent sensor which picks up drivers alcoholic fumes, drug use or erratic driving and speeding in restricted areas and disables vehicle for 24 hours? Add on an internal camera which can identify mobile phone texting orDriver Laptop video viewing? Ask anyone who has lost a child or any relative due to the fault of someone under the influence or just unworthy of being behind a wheel.
Deffo more can be done 👍🏼
How does it store video via an SD Card Reader? Am i missing something??
I just use the SD card reader bought from amazon and using USB C type to regular USB adapter. 128 Gigs card is enough for loop recording.
Can I implement this for my 67 reg GLC which has 360deg cameras?
No buddy it doesn’t work off the parking cameras. Separate one.
@@GoksCarLounge Is there a good reason why the parking cameras can't be used as a dashcam?
Probably.
My 2024 GLC SUV does not have a dashcam option. I am in the United States. Is this feature not available here? Edit: I have the Premium trim.
I was also looking for something similar to BMW’s remote camera, which builds a 3D image around the vehicle so you can see if anyone is lurking.
do you have the 360 camera feature?
I have a question, does this dash cam also record the rear ?
Just front :)
@@GoksCarLounge oh man so the GLC only got a front camera? ...
Hi man, I am from Australia. I don’t even have the dashcam in app.
Once you have connected an SD card or USB stick. I use a USB stick on a right angled OTG lead so it can be tucked away neatly and can be forgotten about. No need to go into settings on the screen everytime you set off either. While preparing to set off I just say 'Hey Mercedes swith on Dash Cam recording' she then finds the USB and starts recording with a voice back confirmation. A quick glanse at the centre screen checks a red dot is now on the camera icon showing that recording has been activated. It's all too easy to set off and foget to do it manually which means you then either have to stop or fiddle with the screen while mobile which isn't a good idea.
It's a shame that the DashCam doesn't use all of the cameras too
I’m still not clear if it requires to start recording manually every time I start the car. Can you explain?
My gla starts automatically it overrides the previous recording is the way I have it set
Dang I don’t have that app
I do believe you have to start it manually each time. The dash cam does not start automatically as a traditional dash cam, due to some legislation !
Correct!
What?!! I just paid 200 bucks for that? I thought it was similar to what Tesla has! Oh man, this blows!
Horrible Horrible Horrible
I ended up buying a USBC Pendrive which works perfect. Also discovered you can ask "Hey Mercedes, start Dashcam"
@@carlhaslam that’s a game changer if true .
In the UK, the Dashcam doesn't auto-start when you start the car, even in loop mode. You need to manually activate it, I've saved it as a shortcut/favourite. Apparently it's something to do with local laws - I was watching this video to see if anyone's found a solution
I want it to record as long as it’s turned on etc and not have to worry about if it’s on off etc etc
Dashcams should be mandatory in all vehicles also they should start automatically every time you start or drive the car.
Does the 2022 glc 300?
With all the computers that this car has they couldn’t come up with something easier. Set it and forget it?
Well on the same time this can be used as a spying tools to see where a significant other has been!
Lol
Perhaps it’s better this way?
Haha. I’ll leave it down to the individual. Maybe there will be an update to automatically record….
They have managed to make the least user friendly dashcam experience I've ever seen... No auto start? No auto end? Mad. p.s. you don't need to use an SD card with an adapter, you can buy USB-C memory sticks for peanuts, a sleeker solution.
Pathetic thatMercedesexpect a driver to manually start and stop dashcam every trip.
It Auto-starts when you switch on the vehicle. You have to activate the Automatic Loop Recording from Dashcam settings. So it’s not pathetic 😊.
@@ajitbangal5812 That option is only available in certain countries.
The most useless feature ever. Always to start manually? Horrible.
