Which boss do you think deserves a spot in this list?
I'm not sure if this would count but ouroborous from bravely default you have to fight him in 2 different forms but his second form has like 5 phases
Melbu Frahma from Legend of Dragoon should have at least an honorable mention.
kitava from path of exile
final boss of castle crashers or majora in majora's mask
Last boss in sekiro, literally 4 phases 😅
There's another way to counter Sister Friede's invisible attack. If you pay attention to the direction the dust cloud moves when she goes invisible you can walk in the opposite direction of it and you can force her to reappear and get a free backstab.

NC where are you years ago lol
If you've played Resident Evil, you know it's in there...
Ya fucking nemesis re3 remake
"Okay, Simmons is a T-rex now. Sure, why not ..."
Then he turns into a fly.
@@Lost_In_Neverwhere Thank you! Fuck Simmons. He is one of the main reasons I hated that fight. Although he should have been on here too. He was a human, then a dog thingy and a T rex and I think there was something else
🤣 Knew it immediately
Final fantasy is like "Hold my beer"
I've been playing DMC5 on the road to the platinum. DMC is such a fun series of games. I love seeing it get mentioned when we speak about games
👍🏼 Best of luck for your platinum
I remember how exciting it was to see the announcement trailer. I never thought they'd make a sequel especially 10 years later. It was worth the wait
DmC platinum is freaking INSANE and sooo hard.
DMC are my favourite games of all time. That's how I've twisted my hands a lot on every boss fight ever.
@@zacharymcchesney299 Yup I'm gonna be that guy - DmC is easy to platinum. It was DMC5 that freaking hard to platinum
There is also Dark Samus in Metroid Prime 2.
Just like Urizen, you fight her multiple times over the course of the game and each time, she's different.
For the last fight, Dark Samus even changes form mid-battle.
👍🏼
If y’all do a follow up video, the Over-G Akrid in Lost Planet 2 has several phases. First, you have to use a cannon the size of a train to breach the outer wall/shell, then, fight your way through a city drowning in its guts, fighting tentacles of itself the entire time, then you either use a laser cannon on a floating battleship that was hijacked by sand pirates, or do a direct assault on the heart, before moving to the core, fighting a battle against time, and winning at the last second by crashing a whole freaking orbital dockyard station DIRECTLY into the three heads of the Over-G
👍🏼 for part 2
Those first 2 games were awesome! We don't talk about 3 lol.
Those were some good battles, on all difficulties.
Lost planet 2 was such a great game loved every second of it
@@gameranxTV there is also Dettlaff from Witcher 3 who transforms 4 times in just one fight. Although in the last form he is just 1hp and kind of a replication of 2nd form but that still counts as a transformation ig
The hardest thing in Final Fantasy games is actually having to go through the list of magic skills you have accumulated and finding a use for most of them cuz you don’t wanna spam the same move …which you still end up doing
lol story of my life, my adhd won't let me just do 1 thing over and over
8:05 Ah yes, who could forget when Anthony had their final showdown with Sephiroth? Truly epic!
Sister Friede is a great fight & I love her boss weapon. If you're struggling , you can summon Gael to help you out but he comes in on the second phase.
👍🏼
You can summon Gael, but unfortunately not his final form lol.
@@gameranxTV id say gael would be harder then sister
@@justinroux1610 Gael is hands down harder than friede
@@stephenhill1990 Friede was harder for me. It's subjective.
Thank you for including Kirby! That boss fight absolutely deserved recognition on this list. What an amazing fight!
Like every Kirby game does that too, tbf. Best one is still Return to Dream Land with the greatest backstab of all time
I actually just did it today for the first time and I was surprised. Falcon was right, it did feel like a DMC fight and I loved it!
The Urizen transformation to Vergil was so damn good. Like, we all new it was gonna happen, but to actually see it happen was just incredible :’)
Tbh I hadn't yet played a DMC game before 5, so it kind of blew my mind
Seriously? I think it was disgustingly stupid
@@dima_keller Where's your Motivation Dilma?
There’s also Yami, the Lord of Darkness from Okami. He has 5 total forms and each one has a weakness to a specific brush technique. I remember fighting him my first time and I spend a good 3-4 hours on it 😂 very memorable!
I think I beat him first try with hints. I think I died most to the multiple dragon head guy
Exactly!!!
Im surprised Sekiro wasnt mentioned. The final boss of the game has 4 phases.
Not to mention you fight genichiro twice before, once having 2 forms
Seymour from Final Fantasy X was the true antagonist of the game…..Sin got all of the credit, but Seymour was the real driving force behind Spira’s full destruction.
Seymour pisses me off 😆 but that makes for a great villain.
One of the best villains and definitely should've been included. Dude just popping up all over Spira.
My pick for this will always go to the final boss of Legend of Dragoons. Melbu just wouldn't quit!
Melbu Frahma from Legend of Dragoon should get honorable mention. His forms evolved through generations
Lol I just said the same thing...
Me Too lol
I expected to see it here, but I didn't realize how similar the Wild Arms 3 boss is to Melbu.
Dude you forgot one crazy boss. Simmons from resident evil six. First he became a T-Rex, then he became a lion , then he became a giant fly and then he transformed into a giant tarantula. He just wouldn’t stay down! Lol 😂. That Bossfight was so grueling because I kept running out of ammo. Also yeah I remember. Xemnas from kingdom hearts two. It was a cool boss fight but MAN it made me want to pull my hair out when I was 15. lol 😂
👌🏼 for Part 2
@@gameranxTV YES! Dude I really wanna see your analysis on that Bossfight! Don’t get me wrong I did have fun in that RE6 final battle but at the same time it was wearing me out. And that was Leon’s boss fight! It was the same thing with the other 2 boss fights. Chris Redfield had that bizarre giant white monster thing and Jake had that giant Frankenstein thing. They just keep coming at you, it was crazy! Lol 😂
I was just about to write that down
@@ricardobelmont5984 you know what I mean! At first I was actually enjoying the boss fight but towards the end I just screamed out “OK that’s enough!” Lol 😂
Forgot about Simmons. RE6 caught a lot of shit, but it was a wicked fun couch co-op game!
Devil May Cry 5 is a great game but what's greater is (at least in the Special Edition or if you bought the Vergil DLC) that it's one of those rare games that you unlock the final boss as a playable character and that playable character ends up being much more powerful than the actual boss itself.
Hehe, the Storm that is Approaching
Kirby Star Allies:
In Metal Gear Solid 4, Screaming Mantis would be great for this list. You get Screaming Mantis, then her human form, and then out of nowhere Psycho Mantis makes a sudden return and tries to go through his tricks from MGS 1, fails, and dies. Fucking amazing.
'The Ultimate Being' from 'Parasite Eve' should be on this list. It was the first multi-stage, end game boss battle I had ever encountered. That thing had four forms (or 'evolutions'). Then, after defeating the fourth form, there was yet another section where you had to run from it, and explode the ship, before it caught up to you.
First time I fought that thing, I remember thinking "You have to be kidding me!" when that fourth form was revealed. Then "Oh, come on!" during that chase sequence. 🤣
I knew somebody would write a comment about this boss (otherwise I'd have :D). I did this fight once and was so happy to beat all the forms... just to get lost in the ship and not knowing what to do, dying... and never touching the game again because I didn't want to do 45 mins of bossfight all over xD ... but because of the abundance of forms, the bossfight was in my mind ever since.
For me, the most memorable was the first one. Melbu Frahma from Legend of Dragoon, the final boss fight has 4 stages to it to finish it off.
Taught me the value in grinding as rushing it early is was a bad choice the first time.
👍🏼
Oh, you beat me to it! SO glad I’m not alone on remembering the moon god battle and melbu frahmu!
Yes.. he was a nightmare to fight but so good
This was going to be my suggestion too, what a final battle.
I was totally about to mention this one.
I just knew Xemnas would be on this list. He has like 5 phases. Just like Ansem Seeker Of Darkness in KH1.
It's a stretch, but imagine if every final fight against Xehanort counted despite being from different games.
Even though Ansem didn't transform as much as Xemnas, I remember being thoroughly shocked by the World of Chaos fight. I would call it the Demonic Cruise Ship 😅
I think Marluxia in Re:Chain Of Memories should be on here too tbh.
@@FAHJA17 and xion from 358/2 days. It's 4 phases but super fun. And she looks super awesome!!!
Somehow I just knew Kingdom Hearts would be on here 😂
The Xemnas fights at the end of kh2 were honestly my favorite boss fights in the series and any game in general. It's all just so epic, especially with the music.
I really like that they dug deep for this list. Some times a list like this would only do games around 10 years old or just things that were widely popular. Also I'm currently playing Chrono Cross Radical Dreamers edition and the penultimate boss has 7 forms. It doesn't physically change just changes its attack patterns and weakness. So I'm not sure if it counts.
👍🏼
If you're counting pattern changes then Lavos still has significantly more. 3 basic form changes, and a total of 14-16 (depending on what you count) attack patterns.
@@Astraeus.. Does his weaknesses change or just attacks? I would count it if it was both.
DBZ is also pretty infamous for doing the different form boss battles. Almost every antagonist in the DBZ universe has a 2nd form or 3rd or 4th form lol (Cell, Frieza, Buu etc.)
Not surprising, considering he does character designs for a lot of JRPG's.
Very true. It is just a shame that The games can be so repetitive with fighting the same baddies over and over. Only a few games decided to change it up (Xenoverse for example). Thanks for mentioning Dragonball Z. Love the series. Games as well.
Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Buu, Baby, Zamasu, Moro, Gas, Cumber and Fu. So far this is DB main antagonist in the series (yes I count DBH as well since it has anime series) that has more than one form. As for DB movies, most of them only have one form transformation except for Broly and Cooler. The likes of Beerus, Hit and Jiren remain powerful with no form changing (Hit's improvement and Jiren's full power is NOT a transformation)
@@shawziiz5031 Even Piccolo if you count old and young Piccolo Daimao and Ma Junior
@@jakehudson5095 Ah yes technically Piccolo count now since he has giant form and the recent two new form, the Ultimate and Orange form. King Piccolo only has one form which is his younger self that all
Can't believe you didn't add Legend of Dragoon to this list. The final boss just kept transforming for eternity 😮💨
Transforming bosses in multiple forms, huh? I think Melbu Frahma from Legend of Dragoon should've been here. If I recall, I think that fight had 5 different forms
I loved Twilight Princess' Ganon. It was the first Zelda I really played and it was friggin amazing
You really need to play ocarina of Time and majors mask. They still hold up very well graphics wise as well.
Yeah but the fans complained that it was too dark So then we got skyward sword. Years later they stayed with that format (BOW ex)
@@THIZZAVELI OoT was awesome but MM was a pretty hard downgrade for me
TP and Skyward Sword both have amazing ending fights. The reveal in Skyward Sword is pretty epic, even by Zelda standards
@@petej7002 dude Skyward Sword gets fairly dark at the end too
Thank you for mentioning classic fantastic titles like Wild arms! 3rd game was fantastic! I hope sony would release alter code f, 4 & 5 in the store! They did with 1 recently and i hope the same with 2 and the others
Fingers crossed!
I wasn't a huge fan of the third one, it was decent but I thought wild arms 2 was better but it's good you can get the third one as a classic on the PS4 along with the first one. I remember playing either 4 or 5 on the PS2 years ago. I think the main character was called Jude? Had purple hair anyway, I remember that game being great.
I couldn’t agree more about Virgil. One of the best boss fights I’ve ever experienced.
Did you ever fight Dante?
I thought Vergil was a massive difficulty jump, but Dante in Vergil’s campaign is waaaaaaaay harder. Two phases back to back and both are just brutal. You need to know like Dante’s ENTIRE moveset with every weapon in every style. And on top of that he can easily one hit you with Devil Trigger.
I mean it makes sense, it’s Dante, but DAMN I wasn’t expecting Dante as the final boss or for him to be remotely that hard.
@@wr5488 I did. I agree it’s harder, thankfully without being bs, but tbqh, I enjoyed the fight with Virgil much more.
P. S.
Playing as Virgil is so much fun, because his move set is very badass and easy to get used to.
Legend of Dragoon's final boss also has a multi-formed fight as well.
Yah, Melbu Frahma has like 5-6 forms IIRC.
How is noone talking about Genichiro & Isshin Sword Saint from Sekiro! Isshin literally comes out of the dieing Genichiro and then has 3 phases of his own! It's starts challenging and just gets harder, in an incredibly cinematic setting, and an incredible cutscene to finish the fight.
finally, someone mentions that nightmare of boss. him and bunch of RE bosses were the first to come to mind
adulthood is full of ridiculous bosses that kept transforming.
😂
🤣accurate
When I seen this I instantly remembered Melbu from Legend Of Dragoon. Dude has 4 forms and was insane when I witnessed the fight
Urizen actually has four phases or forms. The sitting on throne form, the tentacled form after he got up from chair, the kicking form after he ate the fruit, and then Vergil.
8:05 can we all stop to appreciate how Falcon names Cloud "ANTHONY" in his playtroughs?
Genichiro/Isshin should’ve been on this list too. 2 phase first fight, 3 phase second fight with a transformation, and finally a 4 phase fight with multiple transformations.
Pitiful Grandchild.
One thing you didn't mention about Friede- she basically has the speed of a Bloodborne enemy except you are stuck with the slower Dark Souls character moveset.
Makes sense, she's inspired by Lady Maria
lmao Malenia has a Sekiro moveset in a Dark Souls combat which is pretty much unfair.
William Birkin turning into a giant rectum with very sharp Talon like teeth, was something I never thought I would see at the end of the game..
Rahu from Custom Robos on the gamecube had 3 forms. Also this game never gets talked about and deserves love.
I'm surprised you didn't put *Chakravartin* from Asura's Wrath on this list. He has 5 forms in total, but you only fight 3 of them. And they only get bigger and crazier from then on.
Yeah but the difference there is that the fight can be really, really frustrating, while most of the ones on this list are punishing but fair. Asura's Wrath is just mean sometimes
Dude, absolutely LOVE the content! Keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks! Will do!
I loved how in the final encounter with Sephiroth, Cloud’s limit meter is slowly building as Sephiroth appears. Then Cloud releases all the rage he’s built up over the years in one savage Omnislash.
I am quite excited you brought up Wild Arms 2 on this list. craziness final boss battle I've ever had.
The Blaze of Disaster didn't have too many forms IIRC.
...but I know you meant WA3. :p
Just finished getting through Scarlet Nexus the other day and Karen definitely deserves a future spot on such a list. Play it and I promise you'll agree!
Is she a Karen in the other sense of the name 😆
Ain't no way Gameranx going act like something huge didn't just leak 😂
Video coming tomorrow.
Borderlands Pre-Sequel's Eridian Guardian. The fight doesn't change much but you have to drain his health bar six times. The first phase is normal, the secon phase his attacks are Ice infused, the third is Fire, and I am not sure if the third one was Corrosive or Shock.
After beating the first, you have to go against him when he becomes giant and smacks the terrain and shocks it. The second time is shock phase where he pulls you up and if you don't pound the ground you will get your shield evaporated. He does the same the final form which is him in Corrosive again with the exception he also pukes toxic waste all over the floor and is better to avoid falling on that as it will likely shred your hp bar
👍🏼
Follow up idea - Sword Dancer from Tales of Symphonia. Loved the progressive difficulty each time I found it!
Ghirahim and his multiple forms in Skyward sword is pretty cool. You technically also "fight" him when he transforms into a sword and is used by Demise
Great list. Just here to point out that I guess you could say Urizen has four forms. Throne Form, where he doesn't even consider you a threat enough to stand up; Tentacle Form, where he stands up because he considers you annoying enough now to use his tentacles on; Shedded Form, where he gets serious and sheds the tentacles because Dante is actually finally a real threat; and Vergil, who is the usual excessive pain in the ass he has always been.
I guess you are not the storm that it's approaching
nor the one provoking black clouds in isolation
where's your motivation
If there's ever a part 2 of this, I'm sure there are many bosses that transform a lot, but I'd suggest Melbu Frahma from The Legend of Dragoon. Each form represents a period of time and I believe there are four of them.
>be me
>play through chrono trigger for the first time yesterday
>put in enough hours to know magnus is one of the big bads
>gameranx uploads new video
>see magnus as a PC
how have i avoided spoilers for like a 30 yr old game till i touched it
Why not "Asura's Wrath" final final boss fight I swear to you not he changed forms almost just as much as anyone on the list.
It’s really impressive that you can upload everyday keep up the good work
Will do. thanks
I like the ones with final forms that you have to meet a certain criteria. It's so cool to fight another form you discover.
Ones I can think off the top of my head are Ys VIII and Unsighted.
I guess Heldalff from TALES OF ZESTIRIA counts right? Three phases. The first one kinda normal, second form HUGE DRAGOON Monster and final form himself again but you fight him alone. With no party members in this last phase.
Wind waker had an incredibly involved multi-part boss fight with Gannon. Three forms in the tower room, and then you face him with Zelda on top of the tower
that was a fun fight
I remember bowsers transformation from Super Mario 64 and I thought that was nearly impossible playing it at such a tender age...Still one of my favorites of all time!
👍🏼
Frieza laughing In 3rd form:
"You fool...This isn't even my final form!"
I loved battling Frieda as a strength user. 2-hander weapons. Took me forever, but I was super happy to get it done
GTA 6 gameplay leaked, we need your opinion.
Most probably tomorrow.
@@gameranxTV play it safe!
Talk about gta 6
"Few things can match the excess of Square Enix when they're firing on all cylinders." Having played and loved KH2, and remembering that boss fight well, that sentence killed me. So true.
A ridiculous boss would have to be Simmons in RE 6. Yeah, ridiculous doesn't mean great. He's a boss in almost all of the campaigns, has a different form in each, ranging from a mutated T Rex, a jaguar(?), and a giant fly.
I would like to mention Chaos from Sonic Adventure DX, He has a total of 6 transformations shown in game throughout the course of it
Kena Bridge of spirits never seems to get any love...on any list lol. It's a pretty fun game. And not as easy as it might look.
Haven’t played Wild Arms 3 since PS2 days. I remember one of my best friends at the time introduced me. It was such a great game.
👍🏼
Urizen, 3 fights? Try 4 and just for Dante. 8 if you include Nero. Urizen sitting, thrice (2 for Nero). Urizen standing with tentacles about first as Nero then as Dante. Urizen standing without Tentacles, Dante only. Vergil, then Vergil again with Nero. The forms at play here are Urizen sitting, standing with tentacles, standing without tentacles, Vergil, and Vergil in DT.
You said something that I actually agree with, the final fight against Virgil in DMC5 is the best boss fight of all time. When they clash in the cutscene I screenshotted that and made it my PS5 home screen wallpaper, it remains to this day.
But if you want to talk about boss transformations, you should have included Bayonetta 2's final boss. There's like 5 levels/forms, and you fight them back to back, with no checkpoints until the third part.
That intro beatbox soundtrack with Dante in the scene .... match made in heaven.
If you do a part 2, Deaths Door, The Last Lord. It’s more of a fight where you have traversal to do, and you fight through many levels and at the end he has all the powers from all of the bosses you have encountered. Bonus points mention doing it with an umbrella lol have to do it to platinum the game.
Geez Kingdom Hearts 2 was so long ago for me that I don't even remember that final boss fight like at all. The only thing that stuck with me was when Sora was trapped and I had to run my slow butt over there as Riku to save him which I failed at so many times ending the fight. That and the first time I killed the boss, I didn't realize I had to button mash for Sora AND Riku so I ended up losing and having to do the whole fight over xD
Special shoutout to Albert at the end of Mega Man ZX Advent. You get your typical boss rush type deal where you have to fight the 8 main bosses all over again, but with all your transformations unlocked, and it's heavily implied that all of these rematches are actually all just the final boss himself, Albert, transforming into all of them by using the same power you have except stronger. Then he has 2 more forms, a giant robot dragon form and then a much smaller form reminiscent of Iron Man. Totaling out to 10 whole forms you have to fight this guy in.
I remember the final fight against N. Oxide in Crash Bash having a couple of different stages but my goodness it was a long fight... Or at least, that's how I remember it from being a kid.
I still remember how my NG+ game of Chrono trigger went like
Soloing Lavos with only the MC without him going through any of his other phases was Sweeeeeet! Plus it gives you a new ending
Urizen is currently a collab boss in the mobile game Last Cloudia. It’s nice to see more about the boss!
The Xemnas fight was amazing !! It was so hard but it felt so cool.. The laser move is really what stuck with me, i think about it every so often
Glad Chrono Trigger is still getting some love!
Same as with Cuphead bosses, Returnal has a few great boss transformations too 🔥🔥
👍🏼
That Boss fight with Mercer in Prototype 2 was dope af!
The final boss in Wild Arms 3 was ridiculous. It was a long fight.
Duke from Tales of Vesperia was pretty neat as his third form is only unlocked after collecting all of the Fell Arms, which he then takes from you and uses against you.
You could have mentioned Nemesis along with Birkin in the RE2 one! He has a number of forms!
"Black Flame Freeda, which is basically her first form on steroids"
LOOOOOOOOOOOL
I'm shocked that the Melbu frahma fight from legend of dragoon wasn't on here. I remember playing that fight when that game came out and it was like four phases and took forever
Xemnas is one of the most memorable bosses I've ever battled.
"We Shall Go Together." Is a line I still think of to this day, years later.
Twilight Princess was the Peak of Zelda.
Void Termina from Star Allies should also count. The forms aren't directly one after the other until you take on Heroes In Another Dimension.
Hi for the part two probably Azel from God Hand would be a good candidate. He meets Gene for the first time in the Kilo-Crab of Dr. Ion, where Azel introduces himself as the devil hand. When Gene finishes almost half of his health he Azel forfeits the fight.
At the final level on the top of the tower of Angra, Gene confronts Azel for the second and final time. In the fight on the half way through Azel unleashes his devil hand.. although it is not a transformation of appearance but it surely a huge upgrade in power.
Finally when Gene defeats him then Azel finds out that he was the true conduit for Angra and transforms into Satan itself for the third phase.
👍🏼
"I've defeated 5 bosses in 1 play through what about you?"
"I've defeated a boss with ten forms"
Have to admit, I didn't struggle with sister Friede. I had a regen faith/knight build the first time around and healed very quickly overtime, so the battle of attrition was in my favour. The second time I was a sorcerer and blasted her down. I can imagine a strength or dex build struggling with her though.
Sister Friede is so much fun fighting. Definitly amongst the top3 in DS3 for me
How did Zeus from God of war 3 not make it on this list??? Epic conclusion to an amazing saga!
I'm not sure why it wasn't included, but I believe Dettlaff from the Witcher 3 Blood and Wine expansion makes the cut, he has 3 forms, each more daunting than the previous one and on deathmarch difficulty, tough as nails that fight
Man. FF7. I remember the first time I faced Sephiroth. Lost against him. Next day I tried and my save was corrupt on my card. Had to completely restart. Almost got to the fight again. Then my PS1 memory card went bad completely. Had to mow a bunch of lawns to save up for a new Mad Catz Multiple Card in one. Finally almost 2 months later I was able to defeat him. Can't believe that was soo long ago.
All I say is.... Psaro in Dragon Quest IV that guy has 7 FORMS (well technically more phase than forms per say) :
-Base form
-One Arm
-Disarmed
-Body change (change colord and a face grow on the remnant of his body)
-New Arms
-New Legs
-Second Head
You may technically count this as 2 forms with the first 3 phases being you destroying the first form little by little and the 4 remaining phases being the second form slowly getting create, but each phases has it's own health bar and moves.
And for Dragon Quest series we can also mention Orgodemir from Dragon Quest VII who has 4 forms (and this time they are proper forms) in total.
Man, Void Termina had 12 forms, 13 if you count when it was the Jamba heart. Also Miracle Matter had around 8 I believe.
Kirby is always fun and cute until the cosmic horror sets in for the last 30 minutes
Awww now there's one that I miss so much and loved playing this most chrono trigger 😊😊
Nice, i would put in that list, Eve from Parasite Eve(Need a Remake) and Nemesis from RE3R
I agree. Wild arms 3. that 10 boss rush was insane.
