    i was impressed the 7245 unlocked is tunning at a solid 100 ampand 150 unlocked at 220

    I got the Sony vtc4 . They're only 2100. But they're 30 amp...but the best part 8snthe price I get em brand new never cycled for 80 cents a cell.

    if you use this technique with out the holders ,it can start to cause some short if insulation isnt perfect ,so dont scimp thinking youll save money not using the holders

    I was planning to build my battery I've built a few small packs 6s most but I never considered soldering the copper on top of the nickel so thank you I've definitely learned something. Appreciate that nice build

    youll have to keep carefull eye on your controller heat ,i do not recomend putting inside the frame,i removed most of the outer on my 7245 unlocked and 72150 unlocked so could mount them both together under the frame and used water block cooling instead

      Yes in a later video I show where I cut slots in the side panels to get air to the controller, it definitely helped with the heat.

    I pretty much got the same bike and it recently stop charging if there is a possible way you can make a video or gmail instructions👍!!

      That's a tough one to diagnose remotely obviously my battery charger and BMS are totally different. First things first are you getting output from the charger? If so do you have an app or program you can use to see what the BMS is doing?

      @@samjohnson517 I think it’s the bms, I bought new charger still nothing do you know where I can’t get a bms for a coustom built, I bought it built so I don’t know the parts and thanks fors the assistance👍👍

      @@a1daone is there any way to contact the battery manufacturer or the person who built the battery ? because they would know, it could be something simple like a balance wire coming off I had that happen to me

    The BMS is not showing balance. What you see are the high and low volts. When it starts to balance you will see the difference.

    I have a big block of metal which my battery sits on top of and it works perfectly to cool down the big lipo.

      Pretty sure it's a 33.6AH. (12 x 2800 = 33600) Only the parallel connections combine to increase the AH

    If you’re making large batteries I suggest using a AC adapter it makes a day and night difference from experience :)

      Hello well I built my own battery because I could not find one powerful enough in the size I needed but there are other benefits, for one thing you'll know what's inside that shrink wrap as far as type of cells, thickness of nickel strips etc.

      In a later video I ended up cutting slots in the side panels to cool the controller but it seemed to be okay without them

      @@johnsonandjohnson9314 I was always concerned about having the controller and battery in there with no real way for heat to escape that's why I cut the slots out of the side covers. It kind of makes sense that it's going to get hot in there and excessive heat is not good

    Hi, great video and great build.
    In the battery ideally should be the copper making the contact with the battery, having the nickel welded do the battery makes the current always passing by the nickel till reaches the copper plate, you'll have resistance and a lot of heat on that nickel.
    Copper sandwich method works great, copper is 4x more conductive than pure nickel, with that spot welder you probably could weld a 0,15mm copper sheet with a 0.10mm nickel.

      yep and you can use nickel plated steel if you need more resistance at your weld points to get the copper to weld to the cell. You only have to lay down nickel squares where you weld

    Hey man you’ve been super helpful , have a question for you .
    You suggested a link in theses comments of a guy building a 20s14p 30q 72v 42ah
    220a max cont. discharge
    300a peak discharge
    25kw peak power .
    Idk much about this and I’m trying to build something similar .
    Would that be a good battery for a build like yours

      The only problem is the 14p, I think it's going to be too big it is going to be too wide for the frame , I dropped mine to 12p you will lose some range though.

      @@racerx2095 just be aware you may have the same problem I had and the reason why I built my own battery in the first place.
      It is very hard to find a battery with the specs you need (150amp continuous) and fit in the frame.
      But that is only if you want to go over 60 mph if you want to be in the 40 to 50 range then they're pretty easy to find.

      @@samjohnson517 I was thinking about a battery from Lightspeed in New York 21700 cells 84v and Dr Chopper in PA I talk to him a lot he does big Lipo batteries 2k that's my plan so far I'm still waiting on parts if I can find it cheaper I'll try and get it.

    2800? 2800 what? P42A's are a realistic 4000mah and 25A continuous current with a burst in the 40-50A neighborhood

      Edit oh you chose the 18650s...similar amperage but less capacity. They are good cells but I don't know if the 21700 can really be beat

    Hello, I am building this exact battery pack. But I am really stuck on one part and would greatly appreciate it if you could help. When you were soldering the copper plating onto the battery pack what type of solder did you use like what diameter and what type of flux in solder and what was the solder made of. And also what power soldering iron did you use like 60w or 80w. And lastly what rosin flux did you use on the soldering. Thanks so much keep up the great work!

      Hello and thank you if I remember right I just used some 60/40 rosin core solder it was nothing special just the standard size and a 40 w soldering iron I ended up not using the flux because it was causing me problems.

    Hey when you soldered the copper to make the series connection did it adhere well, im trying to solder mine right now but it just breaks off when i touch it

      Hello, the solder is going to want to stick to the copper more than the nickel so try and heat the nickel first once you get the solder on to the nickel then it's nice and easy to solder the copper

      So 20 plates at 5in, =100in of copper per battery,
      it is 4 plates per row x 4 rows plus you need 4 for the ends

    What battery would you recommend for a battery a bit larger than yours but for a similar build, I’m thinking about getting 420 Samsung 30q batteries for my battery (20s 21p)

      Yes Samsung 30q would work very nice that's what I was trying to use but I ended up with some counterfeit ones I had a hard time finding them after that so I went with Molicel which I'm very happy with but they are 2800mah so you lose a little bit of range

    I just got 225 21700 cells from a Tesla model 3 2019 on eBay in Germany for 250€ each cell has 4,8 AH so my Tipp is that u search for something like that (even if it takes a couple months) to get a high quality/performance budget build.

      tesla cells are a myth sorry to say. if you want high quality cells that are 21700 go for the samsung 40t3. 4 ah and 35A disvharge. If you actuly got cells from a tesla battery there used and there are no specs avalable for them....

    Can someone share me a pic of same frame motor but on a smaller wheels 24 inch mtb wheels. Planning to build a custom ebike also but I want it to be like a hybrid enduro and scrambler type not too high so I want like a 24inch fat tire wheelbase build on an enduro frame and I'll modify the seat area to be more like straight kinda like a scrambler.

      I did look into lipos I thought about using 5 4S packs but it was around $700 plus the BMS and I already had one lipo pack explode on me so I just thought the lithium ions are just more stable and would have more range.

      @@kaysonosborn5247 Hello and thank you for watching the battery is a 72 volt 33ah and I get about 40 mi out of it keep in mind that's not being conservative top speed I have a new speed run video is actually 66 mph as far as doing things differently I am more than likely going to do another build with a different frame but on this build probably paying more attention to the dropout size.

      @@PapaleguasNY no it is a real pain to take out and it is heavy if the controller was mounted outside the frame you could do it.
