      I agree with your comment. I believe those girls that put up natural hair videos are deceiving because my question is why don't they admit the truth and be specific about their hair type? They just waste people's time and want us to subscribe because they know we also would love it if our curls were a bit looser so it's as if they use that against us well I should say for the weak ones.
      Remain blessed dear 🤗🤗

      4C hair runs in different patterns and does have curls. Some are Visible while Others are Not Visible at all unless _(don't laugh😆)_ you look really up close or through a Magnifying Glass or Microscope. I don't know where the hair typing Community get that all4C hair has zero 0 curl Pattern.
      Now I do see how a lot of people mistakenly call their hair 4C when it's actually mixed with other types.

    PS: Loosely section your hair in mini pineapples using satin scrunchies and a bonnet for nighttime (just to avoid tangles for next wash day and to avoid having hair products on the pillow you lay your face on. We don't want to cause acne exacerbation honey lol)
    Also lol, another tip is to apply and work in your leave in conditioner while in the shower and then covering your hair with a plastic bag so it can truly soak in and give more definition. Then apply gel once you're out of the shower .
    I find that's less messy for me.

    I have 4b/4c hair and I used to do the soaking wet method (Anthony Dickey), but I found I get way more definition and moisture starting with damp hair. To make sure you get definition you have to do one part that’s very important of Anthony Dickey’s method however. In the shower put in lots of conditioner and water and work it all through. the conditioner and water will cause the curls to clump and form, but you have to soak the hair and let the conditioner take hold. Working the conditioner through while adding water will help the water get into the hair. You can also shake the hair during this process to get the curls to pop. Wash the conditioner out when complete. Then get out of the shower and let the hair dry some some so that it’s damp. This way when you apply the products they won’t have to compete with all this dripping water. Apply your product on damp hair, respraying with water for slip when needed or desired. And boom. Definition!!! And you shingle some but it won’t take so much time.

Sopping wet hair is the best foundation especially for wash and go’s (as annoyingly messy as it is) and that made your leave in glide through and the process quicker. ✨

    To maximise on clumping Jen it’s best to run a comb through at the pre-poo phase before shampoo. I have 4b/4c hair and I learned that when you run a comb through at the DC phase you are combing out the definition because our hair clumps with a good deep conditioner.

    • @tmcurly
      @tmcurly Před 3 lety +2

      @Melinated you are right. My hair used to look like Jens in a wash and go but these days I have super defined curls with hang time. Maybe my hair is 4b? I use Uncle funky curly magic or KCCC. I always detangle as the first step before shampoo. I use a clarifying shampoo which does not dry my hair. I am amazed as I didn’t know my hair could get so curly.

    I love how your hair turned out. That leave in looks so good. It's a must try for sure! I'm a mixture of 4a, 4b, and 4c. My wash and go looks very similar to yours. I just don't do them very often. I did one on Christmas Day a couple years ago right before church. The whole process from wash to style took 45 minutes max, which is very atypical for me. I used the Camille Rose Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse to wash my hair, and, believe it or not, I didn't use any conditioner or deep conditioner afterwards; I didn't have time. Then, I think I just used the Shea Moisture JBCO leave in as a one and done. It's crazy how the right products for our hair can work miracles. TFS!

I've tried braid outs, twist outs, rod sets, raking, etc. and go back to the wash and go with shingling. My hair looks its best on days 3-7, then do the process again. I do refresh every other day by spraying my hair with a mixture of water, a bit of oil and conditioner.

    You definitely need a hooded dryer. The professionals (stylists) call it hydrate and define 😊 That's more accurate. It's really just another way to set your hair. The term wash and go really needs to be retired.

    • @naturalkinkycurlymarie7496
      @naturalkinkycurlymarie7496 Před 3 lety +6

      A wash and go exists, is Centuries Old and the term should not be retired. People just need to Stop Calling their Regular Wash Routine a Wash-n-Go. Many just don't know how to do it or realize that their Hair Type, Density & Texture will NEVER yield the Results they are looking for. Wash-n-Go is NOT for everyone. *_So many times I drench my hair in the shower or sink, cleanse it, apply all my leave-in & products on soaking hair and let it air dry while I go on about my business--that's a Wash-n-Go._* The problem is most people who try to imitate this don't have the hair type that will produce a million Curls popping after the Hair Dries and need to accept their pattern Or stick to a Regular Wash day routine.
      _Those whose hair takes all day to dry may want to use a hand-dryer & diffuser or sit under the hooded dryer for 15mins then let it continue to Air dry as they go on about their day._

    To add length, you can hold the hair out and blow dry the roots with a concentrator. That way, it dries faster and maintains the definition. At night, because pineapples don't always work for us 4c's, you can band the lengths while leaving the end untouched, gently roll and tuck to preserve pattern, use barrettes along the lengths. It looks gorgeous and gives me hope. Great job!

    Beautiful results! For preserving the wash n go doing 2 ponypuffs at the top of my head works really. I put a satin cap on top or sleep on my satin pillowcase. Before I leave the house or during waking hours I pull it back into 2 low ponypuffs for a bit to make it fall back down. Sometimes I leave the bottom section out if it’s gotten a bit too stretched.
    Consider picking up a blow dryer stand or a hooded dryer. It’s a major time saver 😆

When I’m ready to apply my gel the process is way fast this way. I’ve tried many different techniques for drying my hair. I found that diffusing gave me the best results. i found that not having my hair soaked helps with shrinkage. so i keep my hair in a shower cap so and just take out each section when i get to it. this keeps the hair damp and super moisturizied. and i tend to use less leave in because mine is very water based and a little goes a long way. i tend to go heavy on the jell and defined if i use definer which causes my hair to dry crunchy with flakes. but once it’s completely dry i use oil one my stands and scalp and then my hair is soft and has not flakes. in the end the shrinkage isn’t bad and definition is there. i have 4b/a low porosity by the way
