  • Breaking down how to get a perfect wash and go in 4c hair and all of the lessons along the way.
    WATCH PART 2: • GET THE PERFECT Wash a...
    It’s been a full year since trying my first wash and go and I haven’t looked back. I can’t believe that I used to believe was and gos were a kind of “hair suicide” for type 4 hair. I would shun the idea for fear of excessive knots and tangles, but guess what? I’ve learned how to achieve the best wash and gos I’ve ever seen on my hair type.
    It takes patience to get it right, but once you achieve the perfect wash and go - there’s no looking back. I don’t exclusively do wash and gos on my hair, but knowing that it possible has give me even more pride in the versatility of my beautiful 4c hair.

    The biggest thing that held me back was imposing my idea of what a wash and go was “supposed” to look like - and imagining all the damage it would cause to my strands. Comparison sometimes keeps us from appreciating what’s in front of us. My motto: Try it. If it’s not for you, ditch it and move on. #nodrama 🤸🏾‍♀️
    P.S. Twists and twist outs are still my favorite.

    • @LaToyaEbonyHair
      @LaToyaEbonyHair  Před 3 lety +8

      No, because I make sure to redo the wash and go as soon as it gets too dry. That could be a day for some and a week for others. I also don’t mess with it too much if it feels dry. Day 3 is my max usually.

The moisture is 100 times better than eco styler because the ingredients are quality. I'm type 4 and I can do a one product wash and go with only Uncle Funky's Daughter. You truly inspire me to hold on to my 4c hair in its natural state. I had a breakdown about a month ago. My hair braider canceled on me last minute and I had a very important meeting the next day. I was *this* close to finding a salon to perm my hair. I instead found a braiding salon. They saved my meeting but I left half my hair on the salon floor! They ripped through my hair with the blow dryer before braiding. 😩 I’ve not mastered any natural style yet so I keep it braided mostly. Pray for me!

It is also sticky in the beginning but totally not crunchy it feels so soft!! And for the wash and go 🥰 the curls patern pupsss out like crazy first time using it i was very much impressed. I would definitely recommend it to all the 4c ladies! (I know some reviews i saw that some ladies disliked it because it didn’t work for them. but for me it did and i am wondering how your hair will take it) i love your hair🥰

    I use Softsheen curl activator. And what a game changer that has been. I'm going to try it with a Gel this weekend (UFD) It's non sticky and non grease like the Jcurl stuff. Also, does nothing to enhance my curls, but, my hair has NEVER felt so soft!!! It's day 5 and still soft, and it's warm and dry where I am (not usually, just weird dry spring weather...usually spring is humid)!!
    P.S i love the shake method. REALLY help to define effortlessly.

    I just did my second wash n go last night. I used sea moss gel and it looks pretty good! It's kinda stiff. I didn't rake much or use a tool to detangle so my ends are loving on each other. 😔🙄 But it's not shrunken to my head and impossibly tangled like last time. @@LaToyaEbonyHair I did a modified Anthony Dickey wng inspired by you! Lots of water, a ton of rinse out conditioner (Hello hydration) that I completely rinsed, about 2-3 palmsful of sea moss gel (maybe 1.5-2 cups?) that I just let water drip onto to wet. Then I used a generous amount of Design Essentials Deep Moisture Milk Souffle because I wanted get rid of it. I wet that some and added a tiny bit more gel all over top and wet that. I sat under the dryer for about an hour. The front left didn't completely dry before bed and that's the only part that has a white cast. It was soooo soft last night, even though it had a firm hold. But it's drier today. Maybe a leave in, which I didn't use, would've served me.
      If there's a next time, I'll use a leave in, but I won't leave my hair out. I'll just band it. I have fine strands, high density. Lol I don't know how detangling will go!
      Edit: I don't make my sea moss gel like Whitney. I make mine the edible way. Just clean, soak overnight, and blend with distilled water. After it's gelled I freeze them in cubes to easily use them in smoothies, hair recipes, etc.

    Great stuff! I love my wash and go. I’ve been doing them since I went natural 3 1/2 years ago. I can do them and they look great. But to keep them from frizzing out and stay moisturized, I have to do them every other day or at least every 3 days. I don’t have little children and I work from home so I do have the time. Plus I have the Dyson blow dryer which is a huge time saver. I can dry my hair in less than 15 minutes. I do have type 4 medium density, medium to long length and low porosity and it works. Yes it is pricey but since I do wash and goes all the time, it is totally worth it for me. I just wish my style would stay elongated but ah well. That’s all a part of having natural hair, right?
