The funny thing is she's the one who pushed for the palace to announce that she was dating Harry. I don't know what she expected but she got a lot more than she thought she would. The press will stop taking pot shots at them when they stop sticking their heads up. Their visit to Nigeria was almost as big a farce as their wedding. This time it was a borderline international incident. They managed to offend over half of a country in 3 days. Not really surprising and I really don't think that's what she wants to be known for. Although she is desperate enough to see it as a win. She is now being thoroughly raked over the coals. She'll start crying victim again and I hope the press just ignores her. It's the fastest way to get rid of her.
Well, she can't claim racism for Nigeria calling her out for her rude, crass, embarrassing self.

I think it was the first sign of Meghan’s pathological need to be noticed. No one knew who she was prior to this statement. She wanted everyone to know she was dating Prince Harry and it needed to be ohhh so dramatic. It also shows her go to manipulation tools: racism/sexism. I remember when he was going off to college and respectfully requested that they just leave him alone for his studies, that he would be available when not in school and the rest of the university students deserved the same. I am not sure that Andrew deserves to be treated that way. He made some stupid choices but I do not believe any of the rubbish that American scrubber came with. She was not fighting anyone off, she talking about how thrilled her mother would be about this infamous photograph that she later relied on to make him out to be an abuser. Why did she keep going back the the same place to see the same men, including Prince Andrew if she was such a young innocent child. She knew exactly what she was doing & what she was hoping to get out of it.
As for bad reputations & bad choices, there is not a lot of good can be said for our present King & Queen at the moment. They both went out of their way to destroy an innocent naive girl because they wanted to go on screwing each other despite the fact that he was engaged to be married & then married to that young girl. They were both old enough to know better & to choose better.
I do think that Camilla has really stepped up to the plate in helping Charles in his reign & during his illness but I don't think that either of them can pretend now that their past does not exist.

The problem is that there is no actual definition, in any legal or concrete sense, of what a 'working royal' actually is. Traditionally, it has been an informal, in-family arrangement, done by people who don't really need to work for a living as a favour their monarch who is also the head of the family, because it is an honour, as well as out of a sense of duty and service to their country. Doing it purely for financial gain or personal fame was never part of it. All these notions are now slightly out of fashion and clearly people like H&M have no understanding of such concepts. The payment the working royals receive out of the Sovereign Grant is not a salary, because it is not an actual job, with all the HR infrastructure about hours, working conditions and advancement opportunities etc that that would include. It is only really intended to help cover costs and allow them to keep to a certain royal standard of living and appearances. By most modern rich people's standards, it is a pittance - M would spend most of it on a couple of outfits. But without a clear legal definition of 'working royal', it is impossible to put that concept into any legal infrastructure, such as the Act of Succession which governs LoS, for example. It is, effectively, another slightly archaic but charming loophole, that H&M very successfully exploited. So people keep complaining that nothing is being done by the RF without realising that the whole situation is much more difficult and complicated than first glance shows.
No. Leave Prince Andrew out of this. He was indiscrete but remains innocent until proven guilty by due process. He was removed from public duty because of the scandal. Andrew has complied with taking a back seat. In that sense, he continues in his loyalty and duty. Harry is disloyal to crown and country. As far as I can see, Andrew has not made an official public appearance since the queen's funeral. Since she was his mother, the man had more right than most to participate.

One may not agree with the don’t explain don’t complain mantra of the royal family, at least they live by their principle and let history be the judge. Harry issued statements on matters of the least consequence and relevance, about his girlfriend being trolled, about his father not giving him time, about finding freedom in the new world. But never on those that matter. Like the racist accusations targeting Catherine, like African Parks, like the lost millions in his charity. Coward!

When Harry was asked a question and he said 'what Meghan wants Meghan gets' I thought something wasn't quite right. I think she had him where she wanted him, right from the start and Harry, ignorant as he was, had no idea what he was letting himself in for.
He also screamed that "What Meghan wants, Meghan Gets" at Angela Kelly TLQs lady in waiting, she reported it to the Queen.. From memory, it was to do with Lolo demanding to wear a Tiara for a fitting with her hairdresser, & Angela had said NO.

The problem is the protectiveness of the Monarchy of Pretender Henry from the time he was a baby creating a monster. He was a menace as a child, teen, and young adult, and the Monarchy kept his antics from the press. The difference now is social media is not so easily hushed and the truth - not their version - but the real truth - is found out.

Harry put out that statement before most people even knew Harry had a girlfriend. They put it out to garner PR. Because simply announcing he had a girlfriend didn't generate enough media activity
I don't recall even knowing about Meghan Markle until that statement came out.
I remember thinking at the time of when Harry put out that statement, that everyone is the R word towards MM jist because she was always called out on all her pathetic nonsense and rude behaviour towards the royal family. I was baffled as I saw absolutely nothing racist about any of it! It was very clear from the very beginning of their relationship that MM was untouchable and if anyone said anything that was factual about her they were deemed the R word instantly and MM used this to manipulate Harry saying oh the press are after me just like they were with your mother! What a horrid vile and calculated person she is.
I remember this statement appearing in the gossip type news we read in the office then. Some of us had watched suits & some hadn’t but this was the first we knew of their relationship and every single person said this is going to be a disaster!

There was the 'straight outta Compton' one, which was written by British journalist Ruth Styles but from New York, for the Mail Online. The article itself was simply commenting, approvingly, on how much times have changed that a British royal prince can now marry someone from that sort of background. The fact that M wasn't actually from that sort of background at all was not the reason that offence was taken - no, it was the implication that she actually was from a deprived primarily black area which was somehow labelled racist. Arguably, her outrage at being thought of as being from there was the really racist thing, because she clearly thought she was above it. There was also an article in Britain by Boris Johnson's sister Rachel Johnson which referred to M's 'exotic' blood, which caused an uproar about racism, even thought the whole slant of the piece was positive about the injection of M's fresh/modern/different bloodlines into the 'blue, watery, inbred' royal bloodline. Nobody complained about any inherent racism of the 'blue, watery' comment, interestingly enough, even though that was clearly not intended as a compliment to the white RF, unlike the 'exotic' descriptor. They just leapt on the word 'exotic' which, like many other words, has recently lost its original meaning, intended here, as originating in or characteristic of a distant foreign country, and become considered as a sort of racist slur. This twisting of the real meaning and intention of something into a racism that was never there has become characteristic of the whole H&M debate ever since. Rachel Johnson immediately apologised, for an offence she neither committed not intended, but the damage was never undone, because M was actively looking for something of that sort to utilise for her racism victim narrative, so it was pressed into service regardless.

I ended up on a sugar site by mistake one day and they referenced the whole press had it out for Meghan from the beginning etc. I said that in the early days there had been the 'straight outta compton' headline' and maybe one other that I could remember but they were rightly called out at the time. I was told that my 'reasonableness is hiding my racism'. Needless to say, I have never been on the site again (don't even remember the name) but I wear my reasonableness with pride!

I’ve been visiting the US for many years on a regular basis and have always found Americans wonderful people who ask loads of questions about the UK and are incredibly welcoming. Last year I was paying for some goods I purchased and the woman cashing up my purchases me asked if I was British (a normal question I have been asked in the US often). Then she said ‘how would the British treat someone like me if I visited?’. I was confused as to why she was asking that, as I couldn’t understand why she would think we would treat an American cashier any differently in the uk. I apologised and asked her to clarify and she said ‘a black person’. I can honestly say I hadn’t really noticed what colour she was. In the uk we live, work and have friends who are all shades of black and white. I asked why she asked that and she said ‘after all the problems about the British being racist and all’. I was shocked that someone could think that about the uk and told her that Britain is a multicultural country and has been for a very long time and the 99% of the population didn’t even notice someone’s colour and that every country had its unpleasant people but I had never met a racist at home. I can only assume that the underlying cause of this question was the rubbish that MM and H had started and it made me want to weep with sorrow and frustration.
