Yeah, it was already a little stupid in the book that he did not realised that he will not save his mom despite the prophecy and the three pearls (although Book Percy is a little stupid sometimes, he didn't even realized that the pearls were for getting our of the Underworld XD). But when you have a full week to search for them, and you still not realize there's three of them and not four?! XD
It makes me so mad that the movie is so bad compared to the books and the TV show like what the hell were they trying to do make their own story? That fits the perverted, sexualized agenda of the time… I’d say they nailed it.. poor Grover.

Not to mention I don’t think they had to eat anything for the effect to take place it was just being in the building itself. Like the whole purpose of the place was to add tension by turning a week into like a day and a half. Even in the show I wished it was more of a kids arcade than the casino it was.
I liked how the even though the show has differences they ended up with the same result each as the book. And those most of those changes added more value to the characters and the story.

You have got to listen to the musical if you haven’t yet! It’s fantastic. They obviously had to change some things in order to make it work for a stage, but the way that they did it was amazing and paid tribute to the books wonderfully. You can feel the love that everyone poured into that show. To address this scene specifically for the musical, since they couldn’t easily do the St. Louie arch and pearl/bubbles on a stage with the budget they had, they instead had Poseidon give Percy a sea shell in a dream that made a portal to the beach when leaving the Underworld, and had Percy leave his mother behind with the promise to come back because he knew he wouldn’t be able to defeat Hades in his domain, survive, keep his friends alive, complete the quest, and save her at the same time. It’s honestly really cool and they did a really good job at drawing the parallels between Percy and Luke. And Percy, Annabeth, and Grover each get a very powerful and somewhat heartbreaking song (how heartbreaking it is depends on the part of the song and how much you think about it lol)
Nah, only book 1 was good. Book 2 and 3 were just fodder for fans to read. They had a clear cut solution and they implemented it. There's no detours, no mistakes, nothing. And I was like, "that's it?" When it finished reading it.
