I remember going to Edwards with my grandmother and great grandmother. I loved riding on the bottom of the cart!

My first job was pushing lines of those heavy carts back in from the parking lot! I believe that is why when I graduated high school, I only weighed 135 lbs!!!

I remember exploring this place with my friend when it was abandoned. I miss that Pizza Hut across the street.

I remember this store well. Originally it was a Mason's dept. store. After Mason's closed it later turned into Edward's. It was unique when it opened - they didn't price any of their merchandise - you picked up some black crayons when you entered and wrote the prices on your stuff (price was on the shelf label). Needless to say, this was before the widespread use of barcode scanners. They might have started pricing their stuff later after the novelty wore off. Anyway, what I liked best about it was the the fence was broken down in several places between Edwards and Miracle Mile next door. If I got bored of grocery shopping with the parents, I could wander over to the Hobby Center Toys or Tandy Leather and browse around while they shopped. But I better be back in time to box up the groceries when my parents were checking out.

I like that you mention the "box up" . . . I remember those brown cardboard Edward's boxes . . . about the size of a plastic laundry basket . . . very useful to have around the house and use for other purposes . . . and then remember to bring them on the next trip to Edward's.

Edward's at Miracle Mile was great! R.I.P.

While I don't remember much about this place, it became a Goodwill Thrift Store for a number of years, then in the late 90's it was rebuild as a Pep Boys auto shop, but sadly didn't stick around very long. Today it is a Dollar Tree.

For some reason I hated Edwards when I was younger! I think it was because it was so big at the time!
