- How I bought a SUPER STRONG chain link fence for about half the price you'd pay at Lowes, Home Depot or Menards. AWESOME Chain Link Fence Supplies: amzn.to/3pmipY2 How to save hundreds to thousands of dollars on your chain link fence, and build a much more durable chain link fence.

If you're considering installing a chain link fence, I'd highly recommend calling around your area to locate a farm supply, or fence supply company who you can buy chain link fences that are much more durable and cheaper than what you can find at big box stores.
The first fence I installed at my home DIY-style (4 foot, black, vinyl-coated) costed me nearly $3,000. It looks nice and encloses my backyard well, but the top rails, line posts and terminal posts are all surprisingly thin gauge metal.
The second fence I installed at my parents' home recently (4 foot, galvanized, thicker terminal/line posts and top rails) costed me about $550. While the fence is shorter (only about 100 feet long) and doesn't have a gate, all things considered I still feel like I was able to build a fence that is about twice as strong/thick for half the cost.

I put up a Chain Link extension to my existing fence.....bought the actual chain link and post rails. but used 1" PVC pipe and other PVC fittings for for the top rail, etc. The fence is not "weight bearing" ....just a cosmetic extension. The results have been tremendous. Used high quality grey spray primer to "pull" it all together......at just over 1/2 the cost of using solely chain link hardware. Did it just as Covid was hitting (just before prices went insane)....been over 2 yrs and it still looks perfect....indistinguishable from my other fencing.
Chainlink TO THE MOON!!! 😂🤘
Great advice.. Course I'll have to watch this several times but I'm sure I'll get it all right soon😉
Helpful information.
Appreciate it.
Great information! Thanks for sharing.
Super great video!!!! Thank you.
Me and 2 of my coworkers watched this and actually what cost him is that it’s vinyl and black coated materials. That is twice as expensive as galvanized mesh and product. Also the “coloured” posts are supposed to be thinner because it’s more of a compromise between ornamental and galvanized fence.
Good info, thanks
I used electricians piping for top and bottom rails on a job for my friend once they were cheaper
Thank you! Great ideas!
thanks!
Thank you soo much!
Thanks so much 🙏😊
Thanks for your help great channel subbed 👍
good video ur 100 percent correct
You got my at THIC!
Thanks!
I wish I knew this before I bought alot of mine at Menards and spent a fortune for only 11.5 gauge :(
Thanks
I'd look at a Harvest King especially if they have any more $2/qt oil specials. Great oil.
As a fence contractor. We do shop around for better prices. For customers. As for chain link fabric. Most folks want the cheaper fence. And they will tell you that
I agree I did the same but where I messed up was the people I hired they did it all wrong and I lost big-time. Now I have to redo or reinforce everything I'm thinking of instead of the tension cable at the bottom I'm going to put rebar 20 ft joints all across the bottom maybe drilling holes through the poles and pass rebar through them. The dudes didn't know how to install the tension cable wire and it looks embarrassing. I tried to help them by giving them work and it's frustrating but now since they're here I have to teach or explain what I want.
Ya I agree. We try to give people work but in the end, we gotta do it ourselves lol if you get a professional , then it's thousands more... if we get people that don't know what their doing... it's thousands more to fix their mistake
I'll just do 200ft myself lol cause I know I'll do it right the first time
Occasionally I see that stuff used at Joplin Restore and stores like that.
Can you help me? I am having VERY hard time to find chain link fence gate (12’) here in the Antílope Valley...where could I find it?
Make one yourself.
People install fences all over. Google it. Something will come up in your area. We could do it but obviously not in wisconsin. Good luck.
Who is a good supplier near Pittsburgh ?
I fell on my fence and it not only weak but brittle from my experience it snapped
Thanx
sure thing!
I need to put a fence around my koi pond. My pond is at a corner of my property so 2 sides are already fenced in with a wooden privacy fence. So basically i need two sides to fence it off. About 60-70 ft worth plus a gate. But I dont know the exact supplies i need to buy, caps, hardware etc.. Can you help figure this out for me? Ive never done this in my life.
Did you figure it out? Otherwise could help.
@@moolacue no i didnt.. id love some help ty
Man inflation is crazy, those $5 line posts back in 2020 are more like $15 now.
Thank you so much, really appreciate this information. 😊
You have to know the vinyl-coated stuff isn't a fair comparison to galvanized, right? If you switched to galvanized for your second fence, that comparison may not be the most fair.
That fence accosted you?
Im in texas. Home deopt, Loews, tractor supply way thin stuff. Yes my moms old chainlink. We could and can now at 150lb plus guy can hop that thang no problem. Typical theses days HOW CHEAP CAN WE MAKE IT
Want to know how people design machines that can do this?
I like it. I need to fence in about 1200 feet
Also me how much did you pay?
Costed? Bro....
I can't do it myself because I work out of town
Used oil pipe 2 3/8 schedule 80 pipe 45$ for 30’ pieces
If you don’t mind me asking.. where did you get it from? I love the idea but can’t find it
@@humzaahmad1876 Bakersfield California. Call around local pipe and steel suppliers and ask for used oilfield pipe
Does anyone actually have any phone numbers or websites
Tractor supply 💯
Haha no way, tractor supply is double what Home Depot costs 😂😂😂😂
I buy my posts hardware fencing used at local fence co & everything is heavy duty gauge on posts & the fencing, I wont buy any major fencing or posts from big box stores they are way too high & quality is none..
Let’s go
Costed?
the 100 foot galvanized steel fence costed about $600-700. I think the black vinyl coated chain link from Menards ended up costing about $3,000
600-700 for 100 foot galvanized steel fence including its materials?
I am a Chinese fence manufacturer and fence machine manufacturer
Bullish on $link thanks
I was thinking 1/3 of the price
Good grief, a bunch of rude, childish people here. Good video, thanks!!
It isn’t “it costed me” - it’s “it cost me” ;)
thanks yous! ;)
@@LifeyGuy No worries. Its ok - you're an American, so we don't expect a high standard of English ;)
I believe the past tense of cost is cost not costed 😒
Costed? Not cost? I need to relearn English.
Who gives af .. you understood it 🤷🏻♂️
Costed is not a word.
It ain't?
Not "costed", but "cost". You're young, you're learning. Great fence info though!
thanks! :)
Please stop using 'costed' it is not a word!
Nice presentation! I just wish you would go straight to the point and details. Too much extra talk makes your audience desperate.
Get. To. The. Point.
Jackass
He actually articulated himself really well. Must suck being miserable.
And stop saying "costed" -- that isn't a word!!
Halfway through the video and you've said the fence "costed" you 3000 at least six times. This could be a 30 second video.
@@redramagemake a useful “30 second” video on how to build a fence or something but you have 0 “diy” videos on your channel and 665665656322 “miserable karen type comments “ 😂
Great video and mostly correct. But for God's sake. Google fence installers. We are all over.
Cannot fi nd your farm supply by name, nor any better deals at any farm supply stores online. BIG LETDOWN.
