      Thank you very much. I had that crazy idea of calling it the "Possible Dovetail Puzzle" which is an adaption of the impossible one Mr. Puzzle showed before. The possible refers to the inner puzzle!

      Sorry for that one. I noticed that the inner puzzle changes the puzzles mass point and makes it fall. Just use the cube stand for another puzzle or see it as another puzzle "placing a cue on a cube stand".

    So this a boob cube but with "impossible" dovetail joints? That's awesome! As a cuber, this appeals to my heart! The (spoiler) puzzle in the middle reminds me a lot of a Rubik's link/chain puzzle from the 80s. This is soooo cool for a cuber

    I like the fact that there's a compartment inside of it. I wanna do a thing when I have kids someday where every easter we'll do a Riddler hunt instead of an Easter Egg hunt. Set up a bunch of puzzles with question marks on them, and make them more challenging every year.

    • @NDPuzzles
      @NDPuzzles Před 6 lety

      That was the whole change and challenge. In the "possible dovetail puzzle" everything is about the inside. The outside is just a neat box to keep you guessing why it is called "possible" despite depicting a seemingly impossible object.

      That's a risky way to store money. When I built the puzzle and did some first tests, the magnets I used where too strong and I permenantelly closed the box :D Still, once it is working a puzzle box is a great way to keep unwanted people away from your money

    Someday I want to see a puzzle that has some levels like this, I mean after solving a puzzle, you get puzzle inside, then another puzzle. Imagine it, some different type of puzzles are combined into one....Started from a mysterious box, locked by puzzle, the box is puzzle, then inside it we have puzzle, after solving it we get a clue to open more part of the box, then another puzzle wow...

    • @NDPuzzles

    • @messylaura
      @messylaura Před 6 lety

      one i thought of would be a mechanical timer inside the puzzle so it would have to sit still for a minute before the right sequence can begin, a wrong move resets the timer, probably with no warning to the solver

    • @NDPuzzles
      @NDPuzzles Před 6 lety

  • @Nogli
    @Nogli Před 6 lety +16

    It's a nice idea, but my one problem with it is that, to my knowledge (unless I missed something?), the colours on the outer puzzle were completely irrelevant. It had to be 'wrong' for the second dovetail slide to open, and you only have trial and error to work with - which is the correct 'wrong' orientation that will let me slide it open? I felt that maybe the first dovetail opening should have revealed some kind of riddle, picture or even the little mini puzzle that made the colour orientation of the outer puzzle relevant.

    It also looks like you can twist it once more diagonally after it has been opened and the small puzzle inside is removed.
    Maybe the rest of the bigger portion can be unassembled now?..,...Could you let us know if this is the case?
    Thank you, And thanks for all the cool videos.

      The rest of the parts cannot be disassembled.

    • @NDPuzzles
      @NDPuzzles Před 6 lety

      I actually thought of a way to even disassemble the two halves which would have shown that I used a dovetail to move these as well but it turned out pretty unstable, so I went with the version you can see in the video.

  • @reggiep75
    @reggiep75 Před 6 lety

    A nice and interesting puzzle that would be an absolute treat to use if there was another unlocking method, or two, of splitting the dovetail sections from the body.
    For me, it would be a killer puzzle it could be made into a longer puzzle with more twisting parts together with more unlocking features. For design and concept I'd give it 4.5 out of 5. If a different unlocking method was added to the other part other than the dropping BB and magnet.. I'd give it 5/5!
    No doubt the puzzle would be of a higher quality and standard if it went into production and was injection moulded to tight tolerances..

    • @NDPuzzles
      @NDPuzzles Před 6 lety

      Thanks for the great review. Quality of course is always an issue on prototypes but I'm quite happy with this one. Adding more unlocking mechanisms sounds fun and would be quite a challenge for the designer as hiding all those mechanisms inside of the puzzle is not easy.
