    I know everyone says it's the rider not the bike but having a well tuned suspension can make the ride so much more enjoyable.

    That shop looked great, and you know you received a quality suspension upgrade. I imagine it’s going to feel like you have a new, better CRF250L. You already have taken that bike through some very gnarly trails. Just think how much better you will be able to conquer that terrain now. As always, great video!

      V, as always, I appreciate your support. Thom is a great guy with a great shop. I had shop envy 😜 I’m looking forward to getting out and riding those trails with the new setup! Cheers!

    Very nice!
    I've said to other's before and you know first hand as I did as well.
    You can shred the bike with stock suspension and do fine, but once you go with an upgraded suspension the bike is a world of difference on all terrain.
    Enjoy brotha, and Ride Safe!

    • @Crittermoto
      @Crittermoto  Před 3 lety +1

      Absolutely correct. My main reason for suspension upgrade was to give it the ability to carry all my camping/travel gear. I was quite content with the stick setup aside from that. And true, the new setup makes it a totally different bike now.
      Thanks for checking out the vid, cheers!

      I hear a lot about how soft the stock suspension is but I would definitely want to put it through its tests before the upgrade, just so you can appreciate the difference 👍

    I am in Victoria and am considering upgrading my 250l suspension. I was wondering if you bought suspension first then took it to KSS or did you buy it through them? Also , if you don't mind me asking what it costs?(approximately)

    • @Crittermoto
      @Crittermoto  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Jeff, thanks for watching. I did everything through KSS. I provided my weight, type of riding I do, and how much my camping gear weighs (main reason for upgrading). Racetech built the custom rear and sent the bits n pieces for the forks then KSS did the rest. This set up is complete customizable to the rider should I ever sell, but I won’t. As for the cost: it wasn’t the cheapest of upgrades but cheaper than a new bike. If you contact KSS he can provide you with a pretty decent estimate based on whatever you want for your riding needs. 👍🏻

    i will be buying a crf 250l in about a week, i heard the stock suspension isnt very good. would a suspension upgrade be advisible from the jump or should i wait? i am def upgrading the gas tank to 3.5 gal on day one though lol

    • @Crittermoto
      @Crittermoto  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jim, congrats on your purchase. In response to your question: for me, I honestly didn’t mind the stock suspension. I’m 6’2” and go from 210lbs to 225lbs depending the time of the year 😜 I was able to go anywhere I chose with stock suspension and adapted my riding to suit a “squishy” set up. The one and only reason I upgraded was for he extra weight of my camping gear as I’ve gotten he’s ily into motocamping. As I mentioned, my weight was over the “designed” rider weight for the machine so I had Kontrol Suspension design me a setup that would take my weight plus the weight of gear into account. When the bike is loaded, the new suspension is an absolute game changer! A ton more control over the bike and rarely bottoming out. When the bike is unloaded, and if I didn’t adjust the preload, the bike rides stiff. It’s a give and take scenario now.
      Now for you….I’d ask what will be your main purpose for the bike be? Exploring? Motocamping? Urban coffee hunting? I’d probably advise riding the bike stock for a season ( I rode mine for three seasons before upgrading ) and see what does and does not work for you. Suspension upgrades can get costly. I wouldn’t jump right into a suspension upgrade right away. There’s a ton of people that like/enjoy the stock set up. Get to know your bike first and fall in love with it like the rest of us CRF250l owners have, then begin the “personalization”
      Thanks for watching and asking the question.
      Cheers!
      Oh and just to add, I’m running all stock gearing also and find nothing wrong with it all. Try not to get caught up in the “forum have to’s” just enjoy the bike 👍🏻

      @@Crittermoto thanks for the quick response! 👍 I'm also 6' 2" and around 210-220 lbs, yea, i think ill do exactly that and just ride it stock for awhile (except the gas tank lol) i would be riding it on street 75% of the time and offroad 25% or so. This will be my main vehicle for a few months until i can save up for a truck so i want it to ride smooth on the roads but also handle the trails like a champ. i will see how it goes and go from there. i like your channel dude! keep up the good work!

      Good call on the tank too by the way. I’ve got the Acerbis tank and get close to 300kms per tank vs. the 135kms I’d get on the stock tank.
      I think you’ll find the stock suspension more than adequate for the 75/25 you’ve described.
      Happy motoring! Keep the rubber side down 👍🏻

  • @breakM
    @breakM Před 3 lety +1

    So, you can have correct sag now and it doesnt bounce around in terrain, but is it more or less plush/comfortable then stock regarding feeling every rock and bump through handlebars and seat?

    • @Crittermoto
      @Crittermoto  Před 3 lety +1

      I don’t think it’s a case of more or less plush over the bumpy terrain...if I had to describe it I’d say it’s more “informative” and definitely more confidence inspiring. Now I know exactly what the terrain is below me and the bike responds to my input so much better. Does that make sense? It’s just completely transformed the bike and I’ve really been enjoying getting to know it all over again 👍🏻
      Thanks for the question, I hope I answered it ok.
      Cheers!
