  • Well, the brakes are no good on my 2001 Honda Foreman TRC450 ATV. Simple job, let's replace the front brake shoes.
    Come hang out with me in my garage working on mowers blowers dirtbikes and motorcycles. Small engine repairs galore!

    Show us your lift unloaded and tell us how it works. I've been wanting something like it. Keep working hard Your audio and lighting could use a little work. It fades depending on how much you move around. I'm slowly watching all your videos.

      Thanks for the comment, and for watching! I actually have a video on my lift. I just don't think I've uploaded it yet. I have also been trying to figure out a wireless mic for the camera, but haven't found one in my budget that works with my camera yet.

    Good easy to understand video. I am getting a 450 S and boning up on common issues. This is one of them. Have to decide if a disc convo is a better route or not. Interestingly all the different channels I have landed on have been from Canada.

      They are a great machine for sure. I went with new shoes on the front instead if the conversion because there really wasn't too much wrong with it. I have another TRX450 that I did the rear disc conversion on though...

    I just found this channel through a search for Honda foreman 450 repairs. This is the only video I can find about a 450 in your playlist. I recently acquired a 98 foreman ES and it’s in need of some repairs. I’d like to learn a lot about it and fix it myself. I liked your video, do you have anymore videos on the 450 planned? I really like that lift table too, by the way. 👍

      Thanks for the great comment! You have a very good machine there. I have the 2001 450S in the video and a 1999 450ES. I did very extensive work on both of them including a new rear driveshaft and a rear disc brake conversion on the ES. But all that was before I started doing repairs on CZcams. I have no videos on that. I have a video coming this spring on rear wheel bearings on the 2001 S though. Probably a couple months away from uploading. Spring is here and the quads will get used more. I'm sure there will be things to fix, and I will make vids on them.

      @@randomwrenching my main issue at the moment is the electric shift. I have put a new shift motor, a new angle sensor and a new shift up/down buttons on handle bars. It sporadically stops shifting and starts back for no reason. I have even put a new fuse box in it. I have another speed sensor I am gonna change, after that I’m stumped other than tearing plastics off and tracing every wire in harness. I’m hoping to avoid that.

      @@kentuckycornbread8502 It sounds like you have already done everything that I would start with. You may just have an intermittent bad connection somewhere. Time to start inspecting all connection points on everything related to the shifting system. I haven't had that problem myself, all the shifting components on my 99 ES are original...

    Hey i would suggest getting a drum to disc brake conversion kit. It's a really simple install other than hitting the wheel studs out and they work great over the stock brakes. They're cheaper than rebuilding stocks too, I got mine for $250 for my fourtrax 300

    • @randomwrenching
      @randomwrenching  Před 3 lety

      That is certainly an option. They are usually less problematic than the drums. I did a drum to disc conversion on the rear of my other TRX450, and it worked great.

    my master cylinder handle is like a rock won't move. Front brakes are locked. 2002 Honda Foreman 450 trx fm 703 original miles. 240 engine hours. I bled the brakes and removed the hubs. One brake pad fell off(the friction pad. ) Also the vent tube down to the left front wheel is broken into. When I set the parking brake the front tires lock up....strange.

    • @randomwrenching
      @randomwrenching  Před 2 lety

      Sounds like your wheel cylinders may be seized. I had that happen on a 1997 Foreman I had years ago. If you open the bleeders, will the lever move then?

      I cant say for sure. You can look up part numbers and see if they are the same for the 250 and the 300
