- Spookytime commences with a look at Something is Killing the Children, the hit horror comic from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'edera. Does this BOOM! Studios scare-fest bring home the thrills chills & kills, or does it rely too much on shock and kids in peril?

Another big thanks to Patron, friend & producer: Throat Milk for lending his editing talents to this episode.
Can't believe the Daredevil Splat panel got in the video. I'm dying 🤣:Pater:
Sounds like a mix of Twin Peaks and BPRD, perfect for Halloween
That's a pretty good analogy.
This was one of those “just one more issue” series. I caught up way too quickly and now I’m a monthly sucker
Felt the exact same way. Flew through this read.
@@ImperiusRex Haven’t gone into the House of Slaughter story yet (I did not know they were related to each other when I bought the SIKTC book, if I did I would’ve bought them together) but I’m excited to dive in!
Awesome video. I've had volume 1 for at least a year and haven't sat down to read it. This definitely grounded me and have me reason.
I love finding new comics through you guys, the banter and the way you guys touch on the stories and artwork is captivating.
Thanks so much MrWesker- love to hear feedback like this! We've got a lot of good stuff coming up on the horizon (trying to sneak in a couple more lesser known books) so keep your eyes peeled!
My spooky story is... Well...
I believe I've shared this before, but for those who have not heard it.
When I was younger, I was shivering in my old bedroom. A small cramped room thinly sheltered from the wintery outside. I tried to cocoon myself to the cold, I thought the creaking was my shivering. But... It started to move independently. Tiny taps, supporting scurrying weight. Mice? Or... Something bigger? I never saw them. My face was covered by a blanket. I dared not move in case... Just... In case. For hours I was dead awake, as they crawled on my face, my body and my bed. Until the morning came and my parents scared them away.
:D
Pud is the rat king confirmed.
W Book! James Tynion IV is super impressive
Lol thanks for the graphics love Dave.
I like this a lot more than his other indie darling The Department of Truth because Tynion doesn't overexplain the concept. I find the failing with DoT is that Tynion throws all of this shit at you very quickly and it takes away from the mystique of the world that the story is trying to convey. I'm glad that with Something is Killing The Children, Tynion explains just enough without trying to overextend himself, and allows the mystique of this strange organization to lure you back in.
Also Erica is probably my favorite character, she's like Batman where she has that rough edge to her that hides her compassion for other people and I'm very pleased that Tynion gave us just enough to be intrigued but not enough where it seems like he's overstuffing us. I just finished volume 3 and I am STRONGLY considering picking up volume 4 tomorrow.
Great video as always boys!!
Thanks man! I still need to read Dept of Truth, and Nice House on the Lake. I generally really enjoy Tynian's stuff, but haven't read too much from him recently. This was a nice reminder of what I'm missing!
One of my favourite episodes so far gunna have to pick this series up now
My spookiest story is pretty short. Was about 12 when I woke up in the middle of the night. Something hairy was running on my arm and moved past my face. Jumped out of bed, instantly awake and turned on the light. Apparently my pet hamster escaped his cage that was on my nightstand...
Anung-Un-REXS' Halloween of Horror??? Could be about comics, movies, video games, or just about what you left in the public restroom the day before.
One winters night when I was about 10 a single big adult handprint was on my ice cold bedroom window it wouldn’t wipe off from the inside so to it was clearly on the outside .. Nobody admitted it was there’s I Shit myself
Ohhhh that's a good one.
aw i was thinking about starting this but im kinda disappointed there's only one type of monster. still seems pretty good though
It's totally worth a read- and who knows- maybe more creatures pop up... the initial volumes all just focus on the same family of monsters... it could change in later issues
Update- there's more types of monsters.

Spookiest kids story:
Remember how you used to find porn in the woods? I once ran into the Woods Porn Fairy. A weird cross between Tony Todd Candyman & that homeless lady from that Lynch movie that everyone was scared of (though this was a white dude because that's the milquetoast level of this area at the time). I saw him...he saw me...I ran out of the woods turned back and then went back into the woods. He was gone. The porn (which is why I went to the woods in the first place) was gone. And neither returned. Somehow I knew I had to leave porn in the woods. It was my duty...I was cursed...
But then the internet happened & nobody needed woods porn anymore. So I got outta that one babay!
You don't get out of the Porn Fairy curse that easily. Finding one means you now have to take up the task. As time goes on, more misfortune will be heaped on your plate until you finally give in.
Dafuck? Porn in the woods? Get help, Shiddy!
@@batatinhacomics Woods porn is a staple for anyone over 30 in North America. You'd just find it.
@@batatinhacomics Well, happened to me and my friends once. We skipped school one day and were wandering around in the woods and found a huge stash of hundreds of porno mags that someone dumped. Why were they dumped in the woods a ways from the road? Dunno. Unfortunately, they'd been there a while and had been rained on, but we did salvage some. Found porn beside the road many times where it had obviously been thrown out of a car. Like, just a single mag or picture at a time, which I always brought home and hid in my bedroom. One day I will do what I know must be done eventually... I will take it all and dump it somewhere out in the woods. 🙃
