Well the summary has made me feel ill, So job well done lads! As for other Batmen, the Confessor and his arc is a fantastic story and one of the best Batman books sans the name. It's also part of Astro City and everyone should read Astro City.
One could argue that Josh Simmons and Patrick Keck are channeling what Alan Moore did with his lost girls series. By taking well known mainstream properties and injecting them full of sexuality and psychology.
My favourite Batman pastiche is probably Private Eye from Marshal Law: Kingdom Of The Blind. The writer, Pat Mills, is well-known for hating superheroes, and boy, does it show lol (if you think that Joker beating Robin to death with a crowbar was harsh, you should see what happens to the Robin character in Kingdom Of The Blind!).
Awa did a book called knighted recently that was about a batman facsimile and it was actually pretty decent. The twist being that in this book he's just died by getting his grapple severed and a guy with no training or experience has to take up the mantle cause he's the only one who knows the batman facsimiles identity on account of finding his corpse. If your looking for batman adjacent books that's a pretty decent one.
It's a pretty decent book, plus there are elements of it I Know for a fact the imperious rex crew would appreciate. especially in regards to the Alfred analog and his thoughts on/relationship too the batman analog of the book
There was also a dark horse book called cloaked, came out around the same time and is another batman facsimile but taken in a wildly different direction that is not as fun ( too me at least) but is a more serious deconstruction of batman that is also really good
Another fun and hilarious video. If last year's Christmas video was wonderfully hilarious (Troy & Neil's laugh...priceless) I'm looking forward to this years Christmas video. Congratulations Troy!!! Merry early Christmas 🎄!!!
I'm so siked. I phoned you guys to request Mark of the bat forever ago. I assumed you guys just ignored it since it's so "interesting". Anyways congratulations Troy!
Ah- thanks for calling in Stefan! I’ve been waiting for an excuse to do these books back when they only had the first two collected in his anthologies publications. Such a wild thing to exist! Glad we finally got there.
I would read this over many other "critiques" of Batman. Because why not have a bit of a laugh, a bit of a gasp, & some eye rolls. Not sense not being absurdist.
this mental juvenile stuff is my bag as being juvenile doesnt rob it of any point its trying to make, a-la fritz the cat, @**nskin etc. also weird batman pastiche, check out bananaman, truly awful from the classic british comic strip the dandy
Bananaman always seemed more like Shazam than Batman to me. If you want a good Batman pastiche in the style of the Dandy or the Beano but with more adult jokes, try Lew Stringer's Brickman. The first issue features a foreword by Alan Moore and guest art by Dave Gibbons and Kevin O'Neill, plus a back-up strip by John Higgins.
What’s up fellas!?! Love the channel!

That's a comparison I never expected, but I can see it if I squint.
Can't wait to get a LEGO version of this 🤣

Not far off from the Bat-Brand at all.
Seriously even the post apocalyptic scene
