- In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the Adobe Illustrator Blend tool to hack building footprint shadows. Making maps in Illustrator is fantastic, as many mappers use it as their go-to cartography tool!
As a GIS analyst that's new to adobe illustrator, this is mind blowing. I would love to see more content like this. Thanks for the video!
Thanks James. I hope you are enjoying Illustrator. I would love more time for making these videos. I manage to put them out as often as time allows - it is a passion outside of my normal work hours. Glad you liked it!
That shooting star took me straight back to elementary school. Great video, easy to follow and demystifies Illustrator a bit. Please make more!
Totally!

Thank you!
Hi Sarah, great video. I have a question : how did you get the vector layer of all the buildings ? Did you import it from Arcgis ? or created it manually in illustrator ? thanks !
If you use ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud, you can search for online building data directly via the plug-in (while in Illustrator). You can also export a file, such as AIX or AI, from a GIS software after adding the buildings to the GIS map. AIX is a format that you can create with ArcGIS Pro, and this file format can be opened in Illustrator if you have the Maps for Adobe plug-in. Highly recommend!!
could you please make a tutorial for arcGIS?
How did you get the building shapes? can u import form shapefiles to illustrator?
Yes, you can import shape files into Illustrator with a plug-in called ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. There are other ways as well, such as exporting a map from a GIS software. The plug-in is very convenient though.
