I think the coat of arms being old looking and old dated is part of its charm really shows it has history and that its old

It is more of an Ancient Indic symbol, rather than just being Hindu. Because Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism stem from the same core philosophy.

Drew, to answer your question about the long Israel flag, many buildings in Israel have long flags that are hung from the roof to the ground which are very popular, and this school appears to have bought one (my school had a bunch but were hung traditionally) and flipped it to use on the fence

The regions of New Zealand do have flags (as do the cities) but they are not well known.
The Flag of the region of Otago has a zig zag divide between its two colours of blue and yellow, as well as two 8 pointed stars.
I saw it once at a museum. Quite a different sight next to the Australia like national flag and overly complicated city flag.

The Cape Verde flag has no official ratio, although the rules for the circle of stars essentially means it can't be bigger than 4:3, so in theory it could be 1:99999999.
Also, the flag or Arizona doesn't have an official colour for the star, I like to imagine it as pink

Wales (not Whales) aside, one of the reasons that there are so many coats of arms/local flags, is that until relatively recently, there were lots of City States. Each had their own ruler and alliances...which tended to change a lot. So what you see, for historical reasons, is often the flag/coat of arms of the old city state before it amalgamated with other small staes to be come part of a country.

The name of the symbol is "Ashok Chakra".
A Hindu later turned Buddhist king who United the Subcontinent.
It is actually a Dharma chakra which has been used by Hindus since long. Buddhists also have Variation of it with usually 8 spokes representing 8 fold path.
Go any ancient surya temple. You will find Dharma chakra on walls and pillars. This symbol isn't specifically of only Hindus or only Buddhists. This belongs to both without any copyright.

My understanding is that the Japanese “sunburst” flag is in fact the naval ensign, while the rising sun is and has always been the flag of Japan. The naval ensign of the UK 🇬🇧 is the Union Jack 🇬🇧 and it features as the upper left corner of some countries (Eg, Australia 🇦🇺 , New Zealand 🇳🇿 etc), while for The United States 🇺🇸 the ensign is the navy blue square 🟦 with white stars ⭐️. Anyway, naval ensign versus 🆚 national flag. It may be a thing.
