Jim was a genuine person, being from the south. I have lived in the south, for a never of years, lovely people, a much slower pace. He will be dearly missed.
That is a really a sad song for me to hear . It being me back when I was I think 14 0r 15 years old when I was alone living on my own . Or trying to live on my own . I was a few hundred miles from my home and I cant go back . When I heard this song on the radio . Yes I had a pocket radio back then and yes I stolen it from a 5-10 store . I cried . I prayed to GOD that I wanted for GOD to take my life away . I attempted suicided that night . Then threw out my life I tried to take it 4 times sense . My body was not dead and my mind wanted to be dead but my heart was dead and still is to this day . I dont have anything to loose because I did not have anything to loose . I bet it's been 5 million miles sense the last time I heard this song . I am nearly in tears and I am 62 years old .

Just an afterthought, he would sing at indi 500, home in Indiana, for a many years. Sing that song before they said " start your engines". What a beautiful voice, still have many of his recordings. He was very much blessed with a beautiful voice, very talented individual.
Most people do not know that Jim Nabors had formal voice training. He could have made a great vocalist. The other show that could have been made was one where he joined the Navy, went to Navy music school was a navy vocalist.
I just heard this the other day and only could think of Jim Nabors. My husband never heard it the concert we went to so I played the version of Jim Nabors and he total agreed Jim Nabors did a much better song.
My family used to have all of Mr. Nabors' records and we used to play his XTmas music every year as part of our own holiday tradition. I am so very glad to have found his music on youtube to keep his memory alive. He was a most kind, sweet and humble person. I met him twice at charity events that he donated to. He most most kind and so appreciative of his fans. God gifted him with such a wonderful singing voice and now Mr. Nabors is up in Heaven singing with the Angels in a Command Performance. I met him a few times at charity fund raisers he either sponsored or worked with and he really really was most kind, patient, gracious to his fans very gentle Human Being Then when he sings, that power, that strength in his voice just takes over and makes you want to get up out of your chair :) i.e. like his songs of Inspiration makes yah just want to get up
