My father sung this for me and my sister when we were small and we all sang together. i still have tapes of us and we were like 3 and 4 years old. when my father was dying long distance my sister and i sung this in to the phone. My heart is broken and i miss her and my father so much. This song will always be so special to me.
I am a teacher. I taught my 8-9-year-old students this song months ago. I told them: "One day, when you become adults, especially when you are in far-from-home places, or when you are in train stations, airports, ... you may remember this beautiful song, which recalls the time when I taught you this song, the time when you were kids, with neither sadness nor worries."

Randomly found this song on CZcams.. It is literally a masterpiece with great tune, and relatable lyrics.. I became very addictive to this song that I can listen it the entire day without getting tired❤

Here after Bullet train... But this master piece was sung by me daily non stop... 🥲... Today when I heard it watching movie ...just took me back to my 90's and to my mom's lap... When she first hummed this tune to me ❤️❤️❤️ 90's music and life was the best.....no one gonna take it from us ❤️
I live in Mumbai. My parents live in Dhaka. It's been a few days and I miss them so much. Once you leave you're home there is no going back. The place just isn't the same anymore. Every time you go back it's for a short while and you know that you have to leave soon.
I’ve never watched this movie, but when I was younger my parents did, and someone gave them a cd of the soundtrack. Every time we went on a long car ride, we would listen to it. I managed to learn all the words to 500 miles, just by listening. I actually sang it in a school talent show once, and came 3rd. My dad passed away when I was 10, and after that we stopped playing it on car rides, but it will always remind me of him and how my life was before
What a beautiful emotional rendering, Justin Timberlake has gone a long way up in my estimation. First time I ever heard Carey Mulligan sing, she has a lovely voice.
I’m in a space where I don’t really know where home is and I usually feel unsettled because I’m in between towns because of school..this song keeps me calm and just hope life unfolds to get me settled and feel like I have control of what I’m doing 🙏♥️Such a beautiful song
This guy did such a good job as Lewis Davis. Then I guess he dissapeared. This movie I guess wasn’t awfully popular but He , Jack White, and others did such a great job in bringing out the nostalgia that was the 60’s to light again
. . . . . . Wait a minute. I'm not a racist or discriminate on the basis of class. I once called my bengali friend (biswas), *das* (In hindi, das = servant). So he started teasing on my surname. I asked him what was the problem. He just said, *"Stop calling me das, you would be das"* I said okay, I'm das and will search on the internet about that. He said, *"since you are a das, you don't deserve to access the internet"* Then I came to know about it in google.
Our music teacher taught us this song when we were in 1st grade... And since then it's one of my favs. When we entered our 2nd grade, he asked us what song should we sing. I suggested this one, the whole class started booing😂 they wanted to learn a new one. But sir agreed and made us sing this song one last time, then he left the school next week. He was my favourite music teacher ever. I remembered once he said to me that i resemble her own daughter in terms of name and age(my real name isn't "owl" hehe 🦉). Some teachers said that he might be unwell, but I hope he's healthy & happy and wish to see him again sometime.💕 I'm in 12th standard btw
I'm a person. I woke up this morning and had breakfast and I've been doing that since I can remember. Not many people know this but I don't have any toenails and sometimes this film makes me remember a time when I could walk up the stairs and say that I'm on the second floor of my house. One day I hope to be able to walk back down them again and say good morning to my wife and 3 pet gerbils whom most of the time cannot leave their cages without moral support. I hope this story is as inspiring as many others in the comments section and shines a light in your refrigerator. Many blessings to me and not you.
I was born once. It's been so long ago now, but I still remember. Whenever I hear this song it reminds me of those moments so long ago and I was there. My family never really understood why. And now it's too late, as tomorrow has become yesterday. But at least I can always go back to this song, even if I don't know when it will be..
I played this song in my car after watching the movie in my room cuz i absolutely love it and i wasn't even born when the song was first released. Playing this song many times, suddenly my grandma who's in front of the seat with me sing along too, she felt nostalgic. I'm so glad she's still alive and be able to listen to this song with me and this version is so much better to listen, love it!!!
I love that not a single comment mentions the considerably big names (Timberlake, Issac, Mulligan) attached to this. The song is the hero. It is bigger than all of them. That is how real art works. It evokes the self and not some commodity or brand.
I absolutely LOVED this flick. It recreated 1960's New York city...where I grew up...VERY well indeed. It caught the ambience of it without being forced. And Oscar Isaac was BRILLIANT in the role. A wonderful film...in turns sad, sometimes surreal, funny, ironic and witty.
This song evokes an awareness of our "human" nature which is forgotten all too quickly. We are not special or superior than anyone. We are all the same.
back in 2003 my english teacher teach this song to us,and today i'm suddenly remember the title of this song. It feels like thos 20 years come back all sudden

It is way past midnight. Here I am scrolling the comment section of one of the most melancholic songs ever written. There was a time I found this song very relatable when I first moved into my hostel(600km away from my home). But after two years,I can still relate to this song but on a very different note.I am now going through a very uncertain phase.Absolutely have no clue about my future, dont have any precise motive/goal,procrastinating horribly.I am,in fact,500 miles away from home(myself). This notion of uncertainty really frustrates me.But this song helps,it draws a line between the stagnant reality and myself.I hope this song will still be relatable to me in 4 or 5 years but on a very exciting note.
a friend of mine sent me this song just now. I did not hear it since ages. I know it from my childhood, but never paid attention to the lyrics since english is not my mother tongue. I started to read the first few comments yours included and they made me cry since I left my home recently and I am at a crossroads like you had described. I wondered how did things go for you over the last 11 months. are you still in uncertainty or did things change for the better?
Living in Sweden since 2018, was born and grew up in China, some bad issues had just happened to me. When listening this song, couldn't help crying. But could not show up to anyone, because I don't want anyone who loves me worrying about me.
Listening to this song reminds me my life. I am originally from a small town called Mindat, Chin State, Myanmar (Burma). I left my home many times for my education to study in other parts of Myanmar since I was grade six. when I passed high schools, I went my hometown one time for a few weeks as a stranger in the eveys of my neighbours. Then I continued my undergradate and post-graduate for almost ten years. Then I went back to my native towns just for a week to say goodbye because I went to join a civil service work in a remote border area of Myanmar, near india and Bangladesh. I worked there for four years and while my dad and my sister passed away and I could not manage to travel in times for their funerals. I was very sad not to see their last journey. But being a good civil servants, I got a scholarship for further study in Australia for two years from 2019 to 2020. I finished my study and returned my country and now in a hotel quartine. After this I have to join my work and there is still difficult to go back home. While listening to this song , I make up my mind to quit the job because I have a lot of losses and quite travelled more than five hundred miles in my life. life is short and I shuould be at my home and work there without leaving my home and family any longer. I pray for you, mates not to leave your home and family. Wish you all the best!
We used to sing this song when I was in Boarding school every morning. I was in 5th grade back then and it was my first time living away from home and used to feel very home-sick. It was something about singing this song with all my friends every morning during assembly that made adjusting out there so much easier. I listen to it every now and then to remember those days. I am so thankful for that time in my life and this song.
I remember signing this song in my music class when I was 7 and i remember being saddened by the song. I'm 20 now still brings tears in my eyes when i listen to the song after all this time.
I just discovered this song 2 days ago my father was kidney patient, and today 2 hours ago my dad expired, this song is graved in my heart with my dad's memories now

Corona took my best friend my grandfather away from me.. My mom and my father are separated for the last 25 years.. it's only me n mom now. not a day not a moment goes by we miss my grandfather.. Wherever he is now may he be in peace.. I wish we could've given him more..
courage brother
May they be at peace. I sincerely hope you meet them again in some way

This song makes me think about a life that I never lived, and a family I never had. I miss them so much even though they never existed.
I know that feel bro.

Here after Bullet train... But this master piece was sung by me daily non stop... 🥲... Today when I heard it watching movie ...just took me back to my 90's and to my mom's lap... When she first hummed this tune to me ❤️❤️❤️ 90's music and life was the best.....no one gonna take it from us ❤️
90's music were always Thomas.
Me too
I live in Mumbai. My parents live in Dhaka. It's been a few days and I miss them so much. Once you leave you're home there is no going back. The place just isn't the same anymore. Every time you go back it's for a short while and you know that you have to leave soon.
It's sad when the people who gives you the best memories becomes a memory..
I listen to it every day and feel sad but, I like it this way.
I love how much joyful satisfaction is in this statement.
We all do like it that way

Hi
I’ve never watched this movie, but when I was younger my parents did, and someone gave them a cd of the soundtrack. Every time we went on a long car ride, we would listen to it. I managed to learn all the words to 500 miles, just by listening. I actually sang it in a school talent show once, and came 3rd. My dad passed away when I was 10, and after that we stopped playing it on car rides, but it will always remind me of him and how my life was before
Carey's singing voice is exactly how i picture heaven would look like, her voice is charming and so smooth, i love her........
She sings in "Shame" also, if you wanna see it
She sings the best and most haunting version of "New York, New York".
@@maxinvictus I know that, she has a wonderful singing voice, i would also love to see Carey in a musical movie. She should sing more

oneof my favorite "small" things about this movie is how innocently genuine timberlake's character is
What a beautiful emotional rendering, Justin Timberlake has gone a long way up in my estimation. First time I ever heard Carey Mulligan sing, she has a lovely voice.

60's is a very important decade to remember.
Indeed.
60s were more important than the 00s and 10s put together.
This guy did such a good job as Lewis Davis. Then I guess he dissapeared. This movie I guess wasn’t awfully popular but He , Jack White, and others did such a great job in bringing out the nostalgia that was the 60’s to light again
This version deserves a million of likes, such a beautiful version, love it.

Wait a minute. I'm not a racist or discriminate on the basis of class.
I once called my bengali friend (biswas), *das* (In hindi, das = servant).
So he started teasing on my surname.
I asked him what was the problem.
He just said, *"Stop calling me das, you would be das"*
I said okay, I'm das and will search on the internet about that.
He said, *"since you are a das, you don't deserve to access the internet"*
Then I came to know about it in google.

Could you imagine a world without music, a world without fantastic songs like this ?
Our music teacher taught us this song when we were in 1st grade... And since then it's one of my favs. When we entered our 2nd grade, he asked us what song should we sing. I suggested this one, the whole class started booing😂 they wanted to learn a new one. But sir agreed and made us sing this song one last time, then he left the school next week. He was my favourite music teacher ever.
I remembered once he said to me that i resemble her own daughter in terms of name and age(my real name isn't "owl" hehe 🦉). Some teachers said that he might be unwell, but I hope he's healthy & happy and wish to see him again sometime.💕
I'm in 12th standard btw

@@sesshomarusama7511 Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), prepare yourself 'cause it's a lot more sadder than this song
I love that not a single comment mentions the considerably big names (Timberlake, Issac, Mulligan) attached to this. The song is the hero. It is bigger than all of them. That is how real art works. It evokes the self and not some commodity or brand.
It's 2022 and I still can't still stop myself from listening this masterpiece

I absolutely LOVED this flick. It recreated 1960's New York city...where I grew up...VERY well indeed. It caught the ambience of it without being forced.
And Oscar Isaac was BRILLIANT in the role.
A wonderful film...in turns sad, sometimes surreal, funny, ironic and witty.
This song evokes an awareness of our "human" nature which is forgotten all too quickly. We are not special or superior than anyone. We are all the same.

I hope things will get better for u
a friend of mine sent me this song just now.
5 yrs time when u look back, rest assured u be smiling at your own naive thinking. U will be in a better position. Trust me.
I hope you are doing better now. All the best for your future (Y)
