I can understand what you are going through ... I lost my friend and a cousin due to covid ... They were gone at the most unexpected time ... Who will answer why??

Sorry
I felt so sorry for you🤧
So sad 😓😓😓
I left my family, friends and my hometown and came to this new country when I was 15, I didn't speak the language then and struggled to make friends, find jobs and to survive in this foreign society. Whenever I'm feeling lost, the song can always take me back to my home and the simple and happy life I used to have. I still remember the day I left. The train slowly accelerating and my hometown station soon became miles away. Now here I am in this country, still trying so hard to achieve my dreams.
This song is my nostalgic song, my stay strong song, and also a song to remind me of where i came from. It literally means the whole world to me
I m also ..where are u from?I m Chinese moved to Brazil...
I'm from China and now I'm in Australia
I completely empathize with you.
I left my country 15 years ago, and nostalgic feeling escalates with this song.

I’m 72 ant thought I learnt a lot from all my time I’ve been on this planet. Yet today I heard this song for the first time. The emotional joy was overwhelming. The memories came back for the first time in a long time. The words are few but they mean the world. Thank you for your gift
❤
It's really good to see people listening and sharing their memories with this song
Those who have never listened to this one and are just listening to this masterpiece can't feel the same way that we do it's totally different feeling trust me
For me:- this reminds me of my childhood (which I believe was one of the best there is) especially the school days where we all sang this song in our morning assembly
It's been like a decade since I last sang this song
And the fact that I didn't even knew at that time this was a song 😅
As far as I can remember it was added by a teacher
I don't know but I suddenly remembered that there was such a song during our school days
It was kinda like a hundreds miles a hundred miles... 🎶
Then I finally decided to look it up and after quite a while I got it!
That's it,
Thanks for reading 🌟
Same bro it reminds me of the time when we all used to sing it on the beat of congo in our music class . Good old times
In my 4th grade, I'd a really awesome lady as my english teacher. I remember the day when she made us sing this song after writing the lyrics on the board. It was a free class, we sang it along her. We all were so cheery and innocent back then...only to not know that she'd leave the school the next year.
I haven't known about her ever since then. No contacts, nothing.
Don't know if she'll EVER see this comment, but if by any chance she does I want to say her, that thank you so much ma'am for making my 3rd and 4th grade years so memorable. Now that I finally found this song, all your remembrances are rushing back to my mind. Lots of love from one of your 4th graders from FBS, Muskan❤️️
Same happened but this time she was my school principal ....I remember she took us to the lab toh show this song to us and now when I have done my 12....I remember those days even though my principal was not a humble lady but still....
God bless you❤️
Are you Bangladeshi ?
God bless you dear. You're a pure soul!

For all those who listen to this song and emotionally attached to it. This song passes on all your emotions, nostalgic memories and heart-warming feelings to me. I don't know anyone of you but still cry to read through your messages I feel like I inhale all the pains ; losing parents, dear ones and the best moments of life.
Beautifully said. I love how you said "inhale the pain". I've never know the best way to explain how I seem to feel, until I read this.
My Mum loved this song. I think Bobby Bare did it first. I personally think it talks to my Soul.
You are a very good boy...
Very well written. God Bless. Amen
Well written,I must say
I miss my childhood so much😭😭😭 LIFE is so tough now
Me too , now I am 1000 miles away from home 😢
Look at the life around u, and wonder at the wonder. (and wonder how adults make such a mess of it).
I would listen to this and play it on my guitar a lot when I was homeless. It always got me through the day.
Mark Hays Great Comment!
As I'm sure it did for those listening to you .. Cheers! 🍻
Why not just loop it...and you will...but remember the blow you hear is the sog of the train that God has sent for you to hear and hop on...lots of love for you brother or sister that reads this - it is for you that I have been hearing the songs
Even when we have a physical home and are comfortable and among our loved ones the longing for that intangible " home" stays somewhere in our being. My humble guess is that this is to a degree part of the human condition.

The most beautiful version of this song I have ever heard. Love me some Justin Timberlake.
I remember when I in class 6 (2014) our English teacher taught us this song. I can't explain the pure nostalgia that hits when I listen to this song.♥️
When ever I listen to this song I remember my beloved father, he sang this song when he tooked me to zoological garden along with my sister and my brother , it maybe 30 years since then . I cried that day cause 🐘🐼zoo was closed and my father sang this song for me to stop crying. On the other hand I remember a lots my beloved darling who live in Burma ( Myanmar) . We have been separated by nine rolling mountains. Here I miss those happy time we were together , we cried in small things. Those were the day's........ Missing u 💓

Thank you for uploading this...😢

Yvonne Rota i’m sorry 🥀
It's always reminded me of my grandpa. He was a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Railroad, and the train passed by their house. He died when I was 5, and I knew he was more than 500 miles away. My grandparents had petitioned Washington, for train whistles to blow at intersections after my uncle was killed by a derailed train, that had struck a truck at an intersection. This song has held a place in my heart, from the first time I heard it.
My dad’s grandfather. My great grandpa was a S.P. engineer. I never knew him but that’s what he did after leaving the US Navy after World War 2. Joined the railroad in 1947 and retired in the 1980s
I remember singing this song in my school days.
I started missing those days after listening this song 😭😭😭😭

This song reminds me of my Father in the 80's, he used to play this song in our cassette player when I was 6 or 8 years old. God is so gracious when I ask our LORD if the end times is already at hand? Then this song just suddenly popped out in my mind today(10/23/18)after 40 years? Now I fully understand the meaning of the lyrics it talks about the coming "Rapture" when all of us believer of Christ will meet Him in the clouds.
My music teacher told me this song when I was in class 3( 7 years old) and now im in class 9 (14 years old) my mom said to sing this song but I have forgotten this lyrics but I searched this pn google and sang this is very soothing music also.

Hey how are you doing…?
I am an older gentleman who has heard lots of versions of this and... this is the best imo.
Why 1960s, 70s, 80s songs are always re-sing? I think because those era songs & music are the best. My 8 years old son play his keyboard & I play guitar to this song every weekends at home. We enjoy those era songs such as Stand by me, Sukiyaki, Al condorpasa, Love is blue, etc. Thank you for up load to this new version 500 miles.
old is gold buddy!!
Yes, that's the answer. I agree.
The 60s, 70s and 80s were about the song, the music. Not always about profit, not about 'target audiences'. Songs made it because they were good, not because people were brainwashed into buying' it' because the radio played nothing but 'it' or as now, the net pugs' it' constantly. I have never liked Timberlake... but this is actually quite good and he has learned to act pretty good as well. A grumpy oldie even grumpier now!!

I just searched for this song outta nowhere and here i am listening the song after 16 long years which i had sung in school's annual day. Felt really nostalgic and relaxed.
I am still in high school and only remembered bits and pieces of this song till yesterday. I remember sitting in the western music period in the basement of our school in 2nd maybe 3rd grade singing this song. I know im still not very old but this song brings back so many memories of me when i was a small child. This song is a very big part of my childhood. I listened to it soo much and my friends and i sang it in elemantry school a lot. It makes me remember our teacher who taught us music and get all nostalgic. Every second and every tune of this song brings flashes and images. I just love it so much.
This shows the versatility and artistry of Justin Timberlake that he's willing to step outside of his genre and comfort zone to cover this classic.
In our school a teacher who is loved by all of the teachers and students sang this song when we were in primary school but she came back to visit all of us after 6 years and sang it again.MISS HER 💞
