You literally saved me money! I did this with the help of a friend and my car not only cranks up after gassing, but I notice it rides much more smoother now.
Excellent to hear! Thanks for commenting
Very good & simple instructions. I had the check engine light came on and off for the last 80K miles or so on wife's 2010 Golf 2.5 without other issues. Knowing how little it costs, I finally changed it anyway. Car seems to idle a little smoother. Installation is pretty easy. Hardest part was getting the hose off on the left side. After spraying a little WD40, it came off fairly easily. Thank you for the video. God Bless!
Great video! Saved me a bunch of searching. Different years hide these things in different places. This is a very similar setup to my daughter's 2007 VW Beetle 2.5L.
One thing you said in the video is to get 3/8" clamp for the right side, but I measured mine and it looks a little bigger than that diameter-wise with the hose there. So I'm going to go with a 5/8" clamp to be sure. I believe someone down below suggested that same 5/8" size as well.
Seriously THANK YOU 😊 I'M SO GLAD I got a code reader my mechanic fixing the same thing 4x the same year what a rip off each time he charged 500 I did some reading and spoke to and watched a few mechanics after some tweaks and code clearing and testing I now know purge valve 30$ learning how to fix it myself and a big fu to rip off mechanic THANKS to people like you we are able to help our selves 🙊🙈🙉🙌👐🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 #subscribe
Hey, awesome to hear the video helped you out and helped you save some money! Greatly appreciate the subscribe and consider watching my most recent video Bell to Bell since that helps out huge with the channel! Thanks a lot
Just replace on 2009 beetle 2.5. Only issue was a taking off elec. wiring harness... What work for me was to slip small pocket flat-head on opposite side and lift locking tab, (as see in the video) then slide it off. Awesome couldn't have done with your awesome instructional video!!!!! :)
Great to hear you found the video helpful and I really appreciate you dropping a comment. Thank you
Update: Heck to the freak yeah! I did it. $15. Runs like a top. Thanks easter bunny! Tools: Channel locks, Small flat head, + get a 5/8" hose clamp, 20 min job. 30 if you replace the air filter in the engine cover. (recommend at least a check dust out) Cheers!
Nice work!
Thank you !!! I just replaced mine. Saved a bunch of money!!
No problem. And awesome!

Thumbs up 👍 thank you for sharing this information ℹ️
Great video I have replaced the purge valve on the wife’s 2011 beater 3 times now
Thanks Robert. Yeah I would imagine the aftermarket ones probably fail prematurely. Haven't seen this car back yet though and she's a regular customer.
NoNonsenseKnowHow but the funny thing is the valve is from orileys parts house and Bosch is stamped all over it
Perfect. Thanks
Heck yeah!
This part and many other emissions related parts are covered under the 15 year / 150k mile PZEV/SULEV warranty. Call your dealership to confirm using your VIN.
Excellent.
Thank you
no prob!
Thanks a LOAD!
No problem! Glad it helped out
What are the names of the hoses that attach to the purge valve? Mine are damaged and I need to replace them
So my scan tool shows a high percentage on idle should I change even though I dont have a check engine
No I wouldn't mess with it if the engine lights not on
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow my long-term fuel trim (LTFT) is also high on idle ( STFT is at normal level). And getting bad fuel economy but no check engine code.
Do you know if this fits a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle?
Sorry no I don't know completely off hand.
Okay thank you for the video! 👍🏼
No problem Danny g! Good luck on it
Hello, I have a 2001 VW New Beetle. Where is this part located? It doesn't seem to be as obvious as this 2013 Beetle.
Sorry without looking at it I couldn't tell you for sure. It should be somewhere on or near the intake manifold though. It is a valve that vents evaporative emission Vapors from your fuel tank back into the engine via the intake manifold
