- Today we look over and start sorting out the issues with the latest purchase, a Soviet Union survivor, the Gaz 66 Radio truck, however this one has a surprising engine conversion to try and modernise it. We sort out the battery box and cooling then see how it drives!

What a great camper it would be if converted well, especially with a Cummins 6B in there.
I'm looking forward now, to Part 2.
catching up on your vids having a JD+ coke ... brilliant ... you are both mad as a box of badgers on Wizz
Can we have a tour of Joe's landy as it looks well kitted out
We’re planning a Landrover adventure video soon!
A lot of fun. Nothing like mates dicking around with mechanicals.
Almost had a meltdown, well done 🤣🤣
Joe going round in the fud chariot 😂 priceless
with a Pornhub jumped in the sun! LIVING THE DREAMA
Came across your channel 24 hrs ago. Great stuff! So jealous! Almost watched every vlog! Liked and sub hit!
Seeing as I've visited Chernobyl I'm laughing at the fact I'm getting all the jokes thrown in there 🤣....Great channel , keep it up
At least it don't need lights...it should glow in the dark.
Love old Soviet stuff.. Its Banging..
Welcome to the darkside! Many hours working on them, great trucks go anywhere.
"Darkside" are you sure, I mean look where it came from, it should glow for eons! :)
@@regsparkes6507 Most of them saw no service, sat in storage for years.
Stick with the videos mate really enjoy them 👍👍👍
Awesome truck.Very capable.
Did I spot a Provost? 😘 as a Private Pilot paid around £100 for a 20 minute ‘Sortie’ in one back around 1999 from Sandtoft Airfield, flew into into Sandtoft in my then jointly owned T67A Firefly G-BIOW based at Sherburn in Elmet, seemed a slow trip back after flying the Jet Provost, best £100 spent in my life👍
Those engines reliable as hell last for ever they are happy when they are pulling keep the heat in it and it will run forever.
Gaz 66's are banging off road better than my kraz.
Looks an awesome bit of kit 😎
fit for the scrap yard, this will cost thousands to restore if you can get the parts !
Subed after first vlog i watched well dun guys keep them coming
Glow in the dark Russian truck. ✨
Least it's free lighting for them
Irradiated plums and a ripple rider. What’s not to like😂
Ah Joe is just getting into the Russian Spirit, but he needs more Vodka.
OMG you guys got to do a video about that firetruck that was in the background. Yeah good thing you guys had that Falkland recovery vehicle get out of that ditch ha ha
You need to take off road with the British equivalent great video as usual
There’s another one of theses that’s been converted to a 6bt near me
No brakes??? That's not a problem as there's a barn.....
Didn't these Gaz have a right weird shifter which was behind the driver in the middle and shifted sideways instead of longitudinally, bet that was fun
Waa ever since I ran it with no coolant the engine is knackered!
Great video!! However, you guys must be nutts...are you intentionally trying to destroy the vehicle? It's quite interesting regardless of being radioactive. Built like a friggin' tank. The Cummins is above and beyond a better engine than the engine that was in there before. I really like the Chieftan videos. I'm looking forward to more from you guys. Regards from Alabama, USA. Bert
haha. bloody Davros zooming around
It rather reminds me of the Russian "Spetsbuksir" CZcams channel. They have one of these and use it as a camper. They also have several fairly new Dodge RAM pickup trucks. I have no idea how those made it to Russia.
They're sold in Europe, anyone with enough money can buy one. And some Russians have plenty of money.
( in poor russian accent ) great success .. surely you meant ( in Borat voice ) is nice .. looks like another promising project
How much for it with everything sorted so it's sorted to be road safe?
Not sure just yet we have several projects on currently, but will look into the Gaz a bit more very soon
Is Joe related to the mechanic out of 2 pints of larger
joking aside where did it come from in russia and do you have a geiga counter lol
I really want one of these trucks. I missed out on one a few years ago and never found another
This one will be for sale once sorted, follow our Instagram A W Hewes for details as soon as it’s ready
@@fittermat ill keep a eye on it then :)
if it was a chernobyl it would need all the paint sand blasting and repainting to be made safe. they still be glowing sometimes
All the vehicles used to deal with Chernobyl were parked up in an area near the reactor as they were too contaminated to be of any safe use. Being Eastern block scrap metal thieves rushed in and took these vehicles out and sold them on. Any thing East European needs to be thoroughly gone over with a proper geiger counter capable of detecting alpha, beta and gamma radiation. Rent one do not use a cheap ebay special. Many/most of the users of these vehicles have since died as have scrap metal dealers who sold them.
I would start with the seats. If the vehicle is clean then all is good. If not then it will need to be disposed of in a safe manner (after involving the powers that be).
doubtful they'd be eradiated enugh now to warrant scrapping the entire thing although some parts may need stripping. Surprisingly alot vihecles noly needed t be stirpped f all paint and resprayed to be made safe againt as majority of radiation was captured in the paint. Thank the russians for using lead primer and paint filler.
Is it just me or does the inside look like a prison transport?
5:23 Stephen hawking has arrived
Put a multi meter near it😂😂😂😂
Is that a jet proverst
What's the music around 6:20 please?
“The colonel”
😎👍
Does the p hub hoodie mean Joe has something he needs to tell us about his secret identity. Lol.
How do you think he pays for all of the chieftains 😂
That diesel filler on chassis is a foden filler
So this thing is literally from one of the Chernobyl vehicle dumps and is highly radioactive? Not good. I heard that unscrupulous people were selling these things. So how were you able to import it given it’s provenance? 😳
Woah, hang on.. You're that guy from Tiktok !
Guilty as charged
Sisters water pipe ditch😂
I suspect that a Cummins 6B would make a good engine for a water pump or electrical generator BUT I would not want it in a road vehicle.
Cummins 6B air-cooled? 😂
It's called Cummins not Cummings .
Come on the only sensible engine swap is a rover v8
FLAWLESS truck
And that porn hub hoody haha 👏
Is Mat trying to tell us that the Soviet truck designers copied the ergonomic design practices of Pommie truck designers? I am thinking of the Austin FG, English Ford, English Dodge, Bedford TK i.e., pretty much every cab forward and cab over design until the Ergomatic*.
*The Ergomatic cab destroyed Leyland’s reliability and reputation in Australia and every other hot country because … the designers made the windscreen so deep that there was no room for a proper radiator. The Ergomatic cab Leylands were the last Leyland trucks to pull Aussie road trains, due to the significant overheating issues that they reportedly suffered. When the ego overrides the brain, customers go elsewhere!
An MOT exempt vehicle still has to be roadworthy.
May I have your business contact please, I would like to provide you some auto products for review?
